Your bot[edit]

Hi! Please, be more careful when you're solving interwiki conflicts with your bot. You made a complete mess with Aymara people and Aymara language interwikis. Hugo.arg (talk) 19:23, 23 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I did not understand or investigate all the links properly before making the changes. Rather than reverting back my changes, can you please correct the interwikis if you can? --Sreejith K (talk) 02:33, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have already done that =) Hugo.arg (talk) 10:50, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sree, please do not run the bot during or before approval (even trials have to be approved at the English Wikipedia). If the bot runs again it will be blocked until after approval. Thanks - Kingpin13 (talk) 13:17, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free reduce[edit]

I was wondering why you reduced the file File:Saw 3D Final.jpg. I added Non-free reduce instead of Non-free reduced. I was using the tagging feature (FurMe) and didn't initially catch what it said. That being said, thanks for adding the non free reduced tag on there. :P Mike Allen 23:21, 25 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Don't Change my creation[edit]

Good Afternoon, Mister
Previously I apologize to you, but this is very important for you. I warn you not to change the license and the copyright on the image I uploaded to wikipedia, the use has been in the Arrange Copyright by Wikimedia Commons, ok. | LFi (talk) 09:14, 30 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I believe you are talking about File:MNC TV MNC-Group.png. The size of this file has to be reduced to meet WP:NFCC. Please revert back the changes you have done to the image. --Sreejith K (talk) 06:50, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please respect my upload[edit]

I know that the logo of DWDB-TV File:Citynet27.jpg is not mine but it took me time for me to vectorize and add colors for that. Why did you reduced it. You made my vectorized copy looked ugly. I want a reasonable explaination for this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pinoyprovider (talkcontribs) 06:43, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you are talking about File:Citynet27.jpg, this file is not vectorized. This is a jpg file and is scalar. If there is a vector version available, please let me know. Non-free JPG images needs to be of a smaller size than the original as per WP:NFCC and that's why I resized it. --Sreejith K (talk) 06:47, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Permissions question[edit]

As I see you just added the OTRS to File:Mmix.png implying it was accepted perhaps you could explain the message on the uploaders talk page and how appears to indicate be a non-valid OTRS. In case that didn't come out right - On November 30 the image was tagged for no license and the tag removed several times when on December 8 the license was added as PD. A message posted at 4:52 said "I'll email the author to double check this." and than, 8 minutes later, indicated "Email sent and forwarded to permissions-en AT wikimedia DOT org." That is all fine and well however at 21:38 on December 9 the uploader said "The author replied, but was quite annoyed at being contacted again. I should have gone with my instincts and never listened to you. Sigh." It still doesn't make sense that December 8 the author was contacted and a permissions email sent but it wasn't until the next day the author replied and "was quite annoyed at being contacted again." The final comment and "sigh" gives a strong indication of something than a clear permission to release it into PD. Soundvisions1 (talk) 06:05, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am an OTRS volunteer and I have seen and verified the email from Don Knuth, the author of the image. I understand that Arial removed the deletion notice multiple times which in fact he should not have done. Whatever Arial said in his talk page is also reflecting in the emails which Arial and Don Knuth has sent to OTRS. If you want to double check the permissions, you can contact someone else with an OTRS account. --Sreejith K (talk) 06:49, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I understand your vagueness because it is the "rules". Actually I already asked someone else with an OTRS account before you ever got involved but someone else with an OTRS account got involved and neither one them would say anything about it other than it was "locked" and presumably would be resolved. I contacted *you* because you are the one who placed the final notice on the image. My concern here is copyright and, as it relates to copyright issues, the privacy portion of OTRS makes it extremely hard for someone such as myself to verify copyright - especially in situations such as this when the "public" time line paints a very different picture. (And yes, I have discussed the privacy issue in the past with others that have an OTRS account). Thanks though for looking into it (?) again. Soundvisions1 (talk) 07:19, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I understand your concerns. But as part of OTRS privacy policy, I cannot reveal the contents of the the email we received at OTRS. I think one of the reasons for concern was that I did not put {{OTRS received}} tag when the first email was received. I will definitely get another OTRS member cross verify the OTRS ticket to make sure that there is nothing dubious about it. Thanks in advance for your patience. --Sreejith K (talk) 07:52, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'll confirm that the email provides usable permission and that the author did indeed appear to be "quite annoyed at being contacted again". The timeline is also correct, although I can see how it's confusing when you don't have access to see for yourself; the original communication was forwarded when they said it was and then more was sent later. I don't believe that breaches any of our privacy policy, and I hope it clears things up a bit. VernoWhitney (talk) 14:46, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Johanna Long.jpg OTRS[edit]

Hi there,

I'll contact the people at her PR agency and see if they can email the OTRS permissions people with a more explict release. :) - The Bushranger One ping only 03:55, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OTRS request[edit]

Hi, Sreejith. I see you're an OTRS volunteer. Could you please clarify to me the licensing status of File:68731 FIRE logo.jpg? It's tagged as a non-free image, but it has an OTRS ticket number. From the date it seems that the OTRS ticket applies to the version uploaded 2 December 2008 and not the current version—is that correct? And what exactly was said in that OTRS ticket—has the 2 December image actually been released by the copyright holder under a free license? —Bkell (talk) 20:03, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You are right. The OTRS ticket is applicable for the 2 December 2008 logo. The email had the logo as attachment and a note saying that the logo has been recently updated and this is the new logo. So the image was non-free then and the new image as well. Ideally, the OTRS ticket number should not have been placed on the page since that was not related to license. I have updated the image page accordingly. Thanks for checking. --Sreejith K (talk) 07:32, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I see. Thanks for looking into it. —Bkell (talk) 12:29, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Check OTRS[edit]

Can you varify this image File:Santhosh_George_Kulangara.jpg as user User:MichaelMaggs not in this list. I am writing on your talk page because this is the picture of famous keralite + posed shot and assume that personality rights are protected..Kalarickan | My Interactions 08:13, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This image came from Santhosh George's personal website http://www.santhoshgeorge.com/. The footer of the website says that the copyright is owned by Labour India Publications. The OTRS email has been sent from Labour India as well. So the permissions on the image are OK. And since its a picture already published on the internet, I am not quite sure whether we should question the personality rights. You may ask some experienced editors from commons about this. --Sreejith K (talk) 05:32, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
