Need guidance on Manual of Style (capitalisation of a brand)

I previously asked a question like this on the Teahouse, however, I figured the help desk might be a better place for discussing this further.

The brand in question is Imec.

The relevant MOS guideline is MOS:CAMELCASE.

The MOS guideline linked above states, Follow standard English text formatting and capitalization practices, even if the trademark owner considers nonstandard formatting "official", but also follows with as long as this is a style already in widespread use.

The examples below it, state: use: Time, Kiss, Asus, Sony Mobile. (Capitalize GEICO, IBM, as acronyms/initialisms.) avoid: TIME, KISS, ASUS, SONY Mobile

I go to the relevant talk page, and the community seems to have come to a consensus that Imec/imec (capital I for beginning of sentences) is how the brand shall be capitalised throughout the article, as even though it's an acronym (thus fitting in the acronyms above), Imec/imec is how nearly all of the sources write it (thus it would be in "this isn't a style in widespread use").

So I guess that's how this brand should be capitalised on Wikipedia?

I'm confused. And so seem to be several other users who have edited articles mentioning the business, like on 2 nm process. AP 499D25 (talk) 09:53, 16 November 2022 (UTC)

Renaming an article

I want to rename article "Honored Art Worker of the RSFSR" to "Honored Artist of the RSFSR", but I can't, because apparently it already exists. However, it only redirects to an article "Honored Artist of the RSFSR (visual arts)", which is not the same as "Honored Artist of the RSFSR". In short, I need help. How to edit page title

I have edited my grandfather's date of birth on his page but the title of the page is still showing the incorrect one. How can I change it in the title Janette Fellows (talk) 12:04, 16 November 2022 (UTC)

I can't see anything in the article's Edit history to indicate the several changes you have performed have been reverted, so I suspect you merely need to clear your cache. However, I also do not see where you have cited any published Reliable sources (or non-reliable ones) to verify the information you have added or changed. Strictly, therefore, your edits should be reverted as Wikipedia does not admit information that someone just happens to know from family lore (for example), because readers cannot verify it.

However, I suspect you will be given some time to read up on the procedures I have linked above and add the required citations. Note that these do not have to be online: giving the bibliographical information of books, newspaper articles etc. that contain the information is sufficient. If you have queries about this after reading the material, by all means come back here and ask further questions. Hello Janette Fellows. I see that you edited Andrew Donaldson (footballer, born 1884) to change the date of birth from 1884 to 1886. I can change the title of the article ("move" the page in Wikipedia parlance); however, we have no way of knowing that your edit is correct. Do you have a source (such an a newspaper obituary) that carries the correct date?

Note that the first source present in that article, here, says that he was born in 1886 1884. We want readers to be able to confirm the information we have written, so we cannot take your word for it. Tigraan^{Click here for my talk page ("private" contact)} 16:20, 16 November 2022 (UTC)

One of the sources [1] says: "His date of birth of 5 June 1884 is also wrong in Alphabet of the Celts. A relative has said he died in 1980 aged 93. Confirmed he was born on 8 November 1886 in Bothwell." PrimeHunter (talk) 19:08, 16 November 2022 (UTC)

@Janette Fellows Your citation has been reverted by an experienced editor. The source you used was a Wiki; that is, like Wikipedia it can be edited by anyone at any time. This means it is not sufficiently reliable to be used to confirm the true birth date. The best way forward would be to take the discussion to the Talk Page of the article at Talk:Andrew_Donaldson_(footballer,_born_1884) and debate the possible sources. One of these that is reliable is the official government one Technically, moving the article to give it a new title is straightforward but should not be done until the matter is settled. You need to find some reliable independent published sources that discuss him. Then write your draft basing it on what they say. The sources you have cited are all based on what Rai has said, and don't qualify as independent. Maproom (talk) 13:43, 16 November 2022 (UTC)

@Abhinav1976 Your draft cites no sources for Rai's early life and career. How is the reader able to verify that what you have stated is true? This is a core content policy discussed in detail at WP:BLP. Without these sources, your article will not be accepted, even if you manage to show he is a notable actor, which as Maproom has said the draft does not currently do. Note that people responding here rarely act as co-authors on articles, but are happy to give advice on any questions that arise as editors get to grips with Wikipedia. Blaze Wolf probably asks because there are many wikis which look similar to us but are unrelated. If you use Special:PasswordReset here at wikipedia.org and also log in here at wikipedia.org then it should work. PrimeHunter (talk) 20:29, 16 November 2022 (UTC)

Created pages not being added to watchlist

Until recently, when I created a new user talk page when warning a user, the page was added to my watchlist (& defaulting to watching for a month, now that the temporary option is available), but I notice that pages I created today weren't added to my watchlist. Is this happening for everybody? Has something in the software changed recently? My preferences still say that created pages should be added to my watchlist. - David Biddulph (talk) 21:29, 16 November 2022 (UTC)

@David Biddulph: Please always include an example. Based on your edits I guess you refer to pages created with RedWarn or Twinkle. I don't know Redwarn. See Wikipedia:Twinkle/doc#Default watchlist options for Twinkle. PrimeHunter (talk) 23:58, 16 November 2022 (UTC)
