Who is he?[edit]

"Syzygy" is actually Elmar Vogt, a German software developer and tech writer. Born in 1966, he uses the Wikipedia regularly, and occassionally contributes to it.

His spare time interests consist of creative writing, research into the Voynich manuscript, the development of a programming language, and medieval reenactment.

... and the nick?[edit]

Syzygy was the original name of the company later to become known as Atari. Elmar was an avid fan of the Atari ST home computer. Besides, he was pretty sure that an obscure nick like this wouldn't already be taken when he subscribed anywhere. (And it makes for nice openings in chatroom conversations.)
