Unless he has received sufficient coverage or is particularly prominent in some way as an MD, it would seem that he is more notable as a politician and the page title probably should remain as is. Eagleash (talk) 01:41, 28 April 2016 (UTC)

Date citation error

On Race in the United States criminal justice system citation 50 keeps producing a "check errors in date=" message that I can't get rid of no matter what I put in the date= parameter. Help would be appreciated. Everymorning (talk) 03:42, 28 April 2016 (UTC)

The |date= parameter expects a date in the format DMY (where any of those are optional) - ranges are not accepted. |date= means publication date, which in the case of reference 50 is 1996; I've fixed it. I have also fixed reference 12, which appeared to be malformatted and missing some parameters. You might want to go through to make sure I didn't delete any important information by mistake. Not true. |date= does accept MDY and YMD date formats as well as DMY. Date ranges are also acceptible but they must be in accordance with MOS:DATEFORMAT. The trouble with Editor Everymorning's date is that it used a format not supported by MOS: |date=1995-6 and |date=1995—6. These are not correct for two reasons: the ending year must be two or four digits and the separator must be an endash:

|last=Bishop |first=Donna M. |last2=Frazier |first2=Charles E. (this form preferred for better data granularity).

Template translation

May I know the underlying mechanism of template rendering as well as how to modify the translation of parameters? For example, please check out Shinto shrine in Vietnamese. In the example, the parameters are in English, but the display language is Vietnamese. Nhkhai (talk) 08:34, 28 April 2016 (UTC)

@Nhkhai: See Help:Template for general help. Each Wikipedia defines its own templates and chooses its parameter names. Vietnamese characters are allowed in parameter names. I don't know whether there is a practice in the Vietnamese Wikipedia but in other languages it varies whether parameter names are translated when an English template is translated. A template can also be written from scratch in Vietnamese with or without any resemblence to English templates. If an English template is used as basis for a Vietnamese template then any modification can be made to any part of the template. PrimeHunter (talk) 10:08, 28 April 2016 (UTC)

Inside the template there is stuff like this

Essentially, that code adds a row to a table when |type= in the template has a value. There was no automatic translation; the row 'label' is Loại đền. When the template was created, perhaps as a copy of {{Infobox Shinto shrine}}, the necessary translations were done manually.

Plot inaccuracies?

Is there a template that one can add to plot sections, be they film, book, TV, or anything, that states something along the lines of "This plot may be inaccurate in places"?

For example I'm looking at Soylent Green, and there are a few details that I think aren't quite right, but as it's been a while since I watched the film I can't remember exactly what is correct - only that as stated they may be wrong.

It's only small stuff and doesn't change major plot points, but it still may be wrong. Chaheel Riens (talk) 10:22, 28 April 2016 (UTC)

User who isn't signed up to Wikipedia repeatedly section blanking without reason.

Hello all, I have been helping out with the editing of the 2016 Lao Premier League article since 24 April 2016 and have added some content that as far as I can tell is fair and needed, however a user who isn't signed up to Wikipedia (it just shows their ip as 27.130.99.234) keeps making random edits to the article.

It's not like this user is removing a certain part of my edit that is incorrect or thinks it looks better without my edit but it seems they are just taking away random portions of the article and leaving it in a worse condition (for example, they removed the league table but kept the header for it even though it now no longer exists). I at first did just re-add my edit the first time but then remembered about the whole edit warring stuff so took a look at that at it says I should write on the talk page, which I have but to no reply. Am I missing something perhaps? I know usually you go to their talk page, but this user doesn't have one. Any idea what should happen next?

The reason that the IP doesn't have a talk page is that nobody has yet created one; I suggest that you do so and ask him to explain his edits. --David Biddulph (talk) 11:07, 28 April 2016 (UTC)

I have restored the content and another user has warned them about removing content. Everyone, including users that edit under an IP address have userpages and usertalk pages, see User talk:27.130.99.234. So you can go to their talk page and discuss the edits with them, or better invite them to discuss their edits on the article talk page. If they continue to remove content we can semi-protect the page to stop them. -- GB fan 11:11, 28 April 2016 (UTC)

(edit conflict) (x2) :Hello, the IP appears 'stable' (I.e. it is not an IP-hopping editor). I have therefore left a (basic) warning on the talk-page (IP addresses have talk-pages same as regular eds. but the danger is if the IP changes then messages may not be seen.) Background colours

Hi there Im having difficulty with table background colours on the page Train reporting number (Australia). When i made the page some time ago the background was white, now it is blue for some reason that i can neither work out nor solve. Can an experienced editor of tables please help me get the tables to have a more user friendly background? Thanks JamesJamesbushell.au (talk) 11:36, 28 April 2016 (UTC)

@Jamesbushell.au: Wherever in the table you see bgcolor=“#f9f9f9", it will be blue. To change to white you would change that hex value to FFFFFF. There's probably more at WP:TABLES but I'm in a rush and can't check right now. Dismas|^(talk) 11:54, 28 April 2016 (UTC)

@Dismas:, @CiaPan:, ive reset the first table to #FFFFFF, though its still blue. Is there something wrong with the type of table I'm using?

There are a number of problems with the colour definitions in the table. #f9f9f9 is the code for grey, not blue, but you'll see in the code that Dismas showed that it is started with a curly quote “ rather than a straight quote ". --David Biddulph (talk) 12:21, 28 April 2016 (UTC)

We prefer not using background colors at all, so I removed all of them. They were also using the wrong form (bgcolor), which is deprecated HTML and it should have used style attributes with CSS instead. And I added proper header cells, so you don't need to do manual bolding, and so that screenreader users also understand that something is a header cell. —TheDJ (talk • contribs) 12:30, 28 April 2016 (UTC)

The image you uploaded is copyrighted. If you own the copyright and really want to allow anyone to use it for any reason, then you will need to confirm that through WP:OTRS. Football club badges, such as File:Liverpool FC.svg, File:Manchester United FC crest.svg (or even File:Sheffield United FC logo.svg) are treated as company logos, so can be used under a claim of fair-use. This means they must be loaded to en.wikipedia, not Wikimedia Commons, must have a fair-use rationale and the image resolution must be small.
Each and every use will need its own fair-use rationale, as with the four rationales for Liverpool's badge. Please see Wikipedia:Logos, and look at one or two other football club badges, for the "how-to" - Arjayay (talk) 16:55, 28 April 2016 (UTC)

Nobody owns any Wikipedia page, and if, as you claim, you represent Luis Rubiales, you have a conflict of interst so should not be editing that page at all, even if you could.
If you want to suggest changes, please suggest them on the talk page as a semi-protected edit - like the one you have already made.
Any such requests should be in the form "Please replace XXX with YYY" or "Please add ZZZ between PPP and QQQ".

Louis E. Eliasberg

On the “Louis E. Eliasberg” page, two paragraphs have been added at the end which make reference to The Louis Eliasberg Watch Collection. These watches have no connection whatsoever with Louis Eliasberg, his coin collection, or any of his family. It is an advertisement that should be removed from the “Louis E. Eliasberg” page. The section regarding the watches should be considered an entirely separate entity and transferred to another page under a different title.

If Wikipedia will not remove this advertisement from the “Louis E. Eliasberg” page, then the following should be added to the verbiage about the watches:

Please be aware that the organization offering the “Louis Eliasberg Watch Collection” is not, and never has been, affiliated with Louis Eliasberg or his family. The watches are being sold by U and L Watch Group, LLC, in Lakewood, NJ; that company has no contract, license, agreement, or other arrangement with any member of Louis Eliasberg’s family or his heirs. The family does not condone this use of Louis Eliasberg’s name. Please do not equate the coins that were part of Louis Eliasberg’s famous coin collection with these watches; there is no connection. Table apearing beneath the references... why?

I inserted a table in an article that im translating that is suposed to be the last thing before the references, but somehow it always appears beneath the references. This would appear to relate to Draft:NVIDIA Titan grafička karta, where the table does appear after the refs. Eagleash (talk) 23:02, 28 April 2016 (UTC)

The table was missing its end tag - |} - though why that caused the table to appear at the end of the article instead of not rendering at all is a mystery. —Cryptic 23:05, 28 April 2016 (UTC)
