help android[edit]

I have just encountered serious problems trying to log in via Android. The mobile site seems to log itself out. Is there a known fix? Also note massive power drain on battery. --Pennine rambler (talk) 02:21, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

the people at the Wikipedia:Village pump (technical) would probably have an answer for your quicker. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 03:14, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Chip davis[edit]

Chip Davis (Man-Steamroller) lives in Omaha Nebraska. I currently run his home security. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.74.86.152 (talk) 02:29, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, we can't use personal anectode as a source of information in Wikipedia. That is a strange thing for a security manager to go out of the way to reveal, by the way. SpinningSpark 06:29, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Pictures Won't Enlarge[edit]

When I click on a picture in Wikipedia I get a black screen. This doesn't happen in other places. I used to get an enlargement of the picture. I'm using Windows XP.172.6.249.33 (talk) 06:28, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Village pump (technical) might be a good place to ask this question. Please also indicate what web browser you are using. Robert McClenon (talk) 23:34, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Referencing errors on Duff Goldman[edit]

Reference help requested.

How do I fix the parameter error?

Thanks, Camellia wagashi (talk) 11:14, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The error message has a link to the help page. -- Gadget850 talk 11:22, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The report at User talk:Camellia wagashi#Reference Errors on 1 September is from 2 September. If you click the "View history" tab at Duff Goldman and then the "prev" link at the 3 September edit then it shows that the error was fixed there. The pipe character '|' is used to separate template parameters. If you instead want the character to be part of a parameter then you can write {{!}} as the fix did, or use | as the help page mentions. PrimeHunter (talk) 11:31, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Robert Ghiz[edit]

HI - Please add to Robert Ghiz's profile my name - RoseEllen McGowan-Ghiz - parent (mother)

Thank you

RoseEllen — Preceding unsigned comment added by RoseEllen Ghiz (talkcontribs) 12:31, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@RoseEllen Ghiz: Welcome! (As a note, Wikipedia does not have "profiles" - it is an encyclopedia and has "articles" - people who approach content from a "profile" perspective often bring with them assumptions that conflict with Wikipedia's goals and procedures.) We only include article content which we can verify and so we cannot take your word that X is his mother's name. If you have a reliably published source to support the mother's name, you can provide the source on the article's talk page and request a neutral editor to review and add. However, as someone with a conflict of interest, you should not edit the article directly yourself. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 16:02, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Notwithstanding the above, you are already mentioned in the article, in the "Life and career" section. Rojomoke (talk) 16:40, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Content pages on alcohol redirect to a much less helpful content page[edit]

Hi,

Not sure this is the best channel for this, but can't find a better one. Can you forward this for me?

I was investigating different drinking traditions around the world.

I found this: Drinking culture which was good, but I wanted specific traditions from other countries. At the bottom of Drinking Culture was a set of links to what looked like country specific pages - "Drinking_in_Algeria" or "Drinking_in_Egypt". Most of these pages, however, redirect to Islamic dietary laws#Alcohol instead of documenting the socio-historic traditions.

This seems wrong to me. Can the original pages be restored? Or have they, and the traditions that they document, been erased from history?

Cheers,

-Ben — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.164.155.238 (talk) 17:46, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

None of those pages have been deleted, they have never existed. If you check the redirect page itself you will see that it has been created to encourage an article to be written.--ukexpat (talk) 18:00, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Add interwiki[edit]

Could someone with a Wikidata account add Qız (bürc) for Virgo? Thanks. 93.174.25.12 (talk) 20:29, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It has been added by Wikidate user Fauzan.--ukexpat (talk) 13:17, 16 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki Loves Monuments: Photograph a monument, help Wikipedia and win![edit]

It used to be one click on the X in the top got rid of these for good. Now this message pops up in every page I go in. SlightSmile 23:09, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe they're trying to induce a Pavlovian response in users — read the words "Wiki Loves Monuments", click on a close button. Maproom (talk) 06:55, 16 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion[edit]

Hello again,

Okay ... I had asked about deleting an article or page of Michael Levine. I read the deletion articles that SpinningSpark sent me but I am still need a little more guidance. I am still interested in deleting this page but don't know where to start the process. Learning how to navigate through all the articles can be a little daunting (but I do read them). How can I start the process of deletion? Is there a page where I can submit the page to be deleted? I guess, to be honest, what is the easiest way to the process?

Thank you for your help, Cczeto (talk) 23:30, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

On what grounds do you think the article needs to be deleted? --Jayron32 23:34, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
AFD is a complex process unless you have the automated tool Twinkle installed, which will do the work for you. I have nominated the article for deletion for failure to meet general notability guidelines. Robert McClenon (talk) 23:41, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jayron thank you for your response, we feel we don't have the enough references Wikipedia requires for the article to stay active. We've tired editing it then it's gets removed because of valid references or resources, which is completely understandable. Because we respect Wikipedia standards maybe when we have more resources when can submit the article again.

Thank you Robert McClenon.

Thank you for you help, Cczeto (talk) 19:22, 17 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Made correction now lost page.[edit]

I was using Wikipedia for a character search in the 2006 television movie (Earthstorm). I found the character in the cast (MollY) and went to the link for the actress and saw no listing with Earthstorm as a credit. I then attempted to edit that to her filmography. Without any investigating or knowledge of editing I made the change. Now I cannot find in any cast listing of the movie with the character (Molly). I did not record the name of the actress. I would delete my edit if I could find it!! It is possible I put it in the wrong place for that category. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bradman55 (talkcontribs) 23:46, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

What article were you editing? There isn't an article about Earthstorm. This edit to this help desk is the only edit that you have made. Robert McClenon (talk) 01:54, 16 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Bradman55: If you click on the redlink above, you will see that there was an article for Earthstorm but it was deleted because : "Unnotable made for television B-movie. Fails WP:NF and WP:N" - Wikipedia only has articles about topics that reliable sources that are independent of the subject of the article have considered worthy topics to write about. it appears that Earthstorm isnt one of them, or at least there was no evidence in the article. If you do have reliably published third party sources, I would suggest you follow the articles for creation process -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 02:05, 16 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
