Page creation log?

It seems I can see what pages I've done anything to, as well as pages I've patrolled. It seems strange that there isn't a log that can show me the list of pages that I've created. Or is there one that I can't find? If there isn't one, is it an oversight, or is there a reason? —Largo Plazo (talk) 00:05, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

@Largoplazo: It's difficult to say what is "normal" these days. The tool is now at WMFLabs, which is still in its infancy as a place where tools run (as opposed to the old toolserver); also, as you can see at WP:VPT, there have been a number of recent problems with slow(er) response time by WMF servers. -- John Broughton (♫♫) 06:12, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

Accessing image files from other Wikipedia languages

I'm editing the en. page on Pavel Batov. The ru. page on the same subject has an image I'd like to import to the en. page. The file in ru. is: Файл:Генерал П. И. Батов.jpg. You can only use files that have been uploaded to the English Wikipedia or to commons. RudolfRed (talk) 04:08, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

Not necessarily. For example, English Wikipedia hosts images that meet its non-free content criteria but which are not free enough for Commons. It is possible that the image at Ru Wikipedia would meet the NFCC and if so, you would have to download the image from Ru Wikipedia and upload it here, with an appropriate non-free use rationale.--ukexpat (talk) 14:18, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

Position where image is rendered

Looking at the source for the article Second Balkan War, in the section "First Balkan War", between its second and third paragraphs, there is the code for including a map showing "The Serbian-Bulgarian pre-war division of Macedonia". This is a sensible place for it, and is where it appears if I make my browser window quite narrow.

But if I use a reasonably wide browser window, this map appears some way down the section "Bulgarian plans for war", where it is no longer relevant to the context.

I would like to make the map appear where it is meant to appear, after the second paragraph of the section "First Balkan War". I don't understand why it does not do so. Can anyone help? I am asking here rather than in the article's talk page because the actual content of the article is irrelevant. Maproom (talk) 09:42, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

The UTC clock gadget top right corner of screen

It gets the time from your computer. I guess you haven't set the time correctly there. You may have to change both the time and the time zone setting in your operating system. If both are them are wrong then the errors may cancel eachother out so you see the right time in your operating system and haven't noticed the error before, but it sends the wrong UTC time to your browser. The UTC clock gadget shouldn't depend on the preference. The whole point is to always show a UTC clock regardless of the preference. PrimeHunter (talk) 11:15, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

(edit conflict) I've noticed it doesn't seem to take DST into account, or at least does something strange with hours. It currently shows T - 1h for me (my system is set to BST, with the correct time, and no other applications or websites show this error). • Sonicdrewdriver, I have a version of it that does. You just need to disable the site's gadget and add the following to your common.js:

importScript( 'User:Technical 13/Scripts/Gadget-LiveClock.js' );// [[User:Technical 13/Scripts/Gadget-LiveClock.js]]

This will have the main clock use your local time, on mouse-over will show a popup with UTC and will still purge when clicked.  :) Technical 13 (talk) 11:28, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

Wait! I take that back. You're still a genius, but the clock doesn't display utc for me. It's still 8 hrs earlier than utc. I'm in China. Is that part of the problem? How can I fix this? Maybe I can just get a mini clock from a freeware site. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:26, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

It gets UTC from your system... It uses var UTCh = getUTCHours();var UTCm = getUTCMinutes();var UTCs = getUTCSeconds();, so I'm unsure why it isn't working correctly for you. It should be your local time, there should be a little popup with UTC when you put your mouse on it, and clicking should purge. What OS / browser / skin are you using? Maybe I can replicate what you are seeing. Oh, and what TZ is China? Technical 13 (talk) 13:42, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

Just to let you know, it works exactly as expected (all functionality present) when using Vector in Chrome 29, Safari 6.1, and Safari for iOS 7 (although the tooltip doesn't appear in iOS, as these are not supported by the system). An editor who deletes a "Citation needed" tag. Is he violating Wikipedia policy?

I have attached the "Citation needed" tag, since in my opinion this specific sentence is wrong. He deleted this tag without an explanation, and the wrong sentence stays the same.

It is not the first time for him to delete without any explanation.

I'm not sure why you are referring to an old version of your AFC draft. It has been reviewed again since then (and I'm not sure why you tried to delete the feedback from that review). The AFC is at Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Bradley Kohn. Hi David. I must have tried to delete it by accident. I think the reason I was referring to an older draft is because I thought I'd lost the latest one. I am not trying to write an article about myself...I'm trying to set one up about Bradley Kohn. I have read the links you forwarded to me...can you please let me know in a bit more detail about what needs to be changed to get the article approved.

Please see the comments placed by the user who rejected it, User:JSFarman. S/he said, "This submission is not adequately supported by reliable sources. Reliable sources are required so that information can be verified. If you need help with referencing, please see Referencing for beginners and Citing sources" (in the pink box at the top) and "The references don't support the content of the article or his notability - they need to be non-trivial, independent, and about Bradley Kohn - not the projects he's worked on or the companies he's associated with". Cincinnati Basketball roster mistake

On the page:

2013–14 Cincinnati Bearcats men's basketball team

for the University of Cincinnati Basketball roster it lists David Nyarsuk twice. The first time it appears it shows information, (i.e. height, weight, city etc.) for Kevin Johnson.

Please change this roster line name to Kevin Johnson.

I have looked at your contributions and have no idea what your are referring to. You made edits to Chuck Murphy that were reverted because it is a different Chuck Murphy. Anita Bryant

In your Anita Bryant article you never mention Conan Dunham's song "Tell Ol' Anita" It was written by a gay activist in the 70's. He opened for Melanie, Canned Heat and travelled on the Freedom Train from Ca. to D.C. He has a hugh following in San Francisco still, but has retired, so of , in Tampa Fl.....web page www.conans-back.com.....you can listen to the song there.

That's likely because we don't have an article for Conan Dunham. We don't normally list things by people who don't have an article since that may demonstrate that they aren't notable enough for an article and thus a mention either. Dismas|^(talk) 20:20, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

Editing article source code

I used to be able to edit Wikipedia just by typing on the page like a word processor, but now when I press Edit it opens up a source code editor, which is a nightmare. How do I get back the old functionality? 96.224.67.162 (talk) 19:55, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

If you create an account, there is a preference option to disable the VisualEditor. I don't know of any ways for IP accounts to get around it. RudolfRed (talk) 20:25, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

Category:Articles to be split from September 2013

How come Template:Clothing nor its talk page can't be seen in Category:Articles to be split from September 2013? I added it days ago and I have tried to update the category, but it's still not there. Snowsuit Wearer (talk|contribs) 20:18, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

That's because {{Split-apart}} has been coded that way; it only puts the page into a category when the page is in the article namespace. It's a side-effect of the {{DMCA}} template it uses to set the categories. That could be changed, but then the category names would be wrong: "Articles to be split..." -- John of Reading (talk) 20:41, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

I don't think there is one; the editors who designed these templates didn't allow for the merging and splitting of large navboxes. As a workaround, I've added the category to Template:Clothing. How do I get post removed that has my town where I live?

How do I get my name removed from a post that is on here? I do not want it on here, it contains the town where I live and I want that kept private, did not have permission to post this. I don't know the circumstances but if you don't want to discuss it in public then you can try Wikipedia:Requests for oversight. PrimeHunter (talk) 23:15, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

@Jmy2469: We will need to know what page you are referring to before we can help you. I'm not sure oversight is the best option, as if it's in reliable sources they're unlikely to remove it, much less apply oversight. ~Charmlet ^-talk- 23:17, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

If this information is in an article about you, or an article that mentions you, you can remove it yourself uncontroversially per WP:BLPEDIT, using an edit summary like "remove unsourced BLP", provided it does not cite a previously published reliable source. If the information has been taken from a primary source, like a public record, rather than a reliable secondary source in the public domain, then you can remove it per the same policy as "poorly sourced BLP". If the information is private and has never been public, and you don't want to discuss the current problem in public, follow PrimeHunter's advice. Other suggestions are at WP:BIOSELF. In the Wikipedia article on me, Gregory Baum, it says at the end :" Baum left the priesthood through automatic excommunication when he married without dispensation from his vow of celibacy in 1976." I don't know whether this true, I have never investigated my legal status in the Catholic Church.The reference given in the article is no longer valid. This uncertain information about me should not be in your article. Please, delete this sentence.
