Hey, Yerpo. I've been taking an interest on working on the article after I saw the peer review. I have a question for you. In one of the sections, it says that the Olm was featured on the Tolar coin. However, from my analysis, it seems to be a stotin coin instead. Since I'm not very familiar with the currency, would you mind telling me if it's right or wrong? bibliomaniac15 An age old question... 22:59, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

Stotin is to Tolar what cent is to Dollar, so the coin represents 0,1 Tolar. Which is approximately nothing, since 1 Tolar was worth something like 0,6 cents. It's just that "Tolar" is the official name of the currency (ex currency to be precise, we use Euros now). thanks, Yerpo 07:44, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

I will look it over again by to tomorrow.--BirgitteSB 12:06, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

Could you check out User:BORIS BL's edits to Olm? He's been changing and adding lots of weird stuff. I think he also edits in the Slovene Wikipedia, so you might want to look out on that. bibliomaniac15 BUY NOW! 20:44, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I know about it, thanks. The user is dr. Boris Bulog, a professor at the University of Ljubljana and an expert on Olm's sensory and digestive system (also a (co)author of a couple of sources cited). So as far as accuracy is concerned, I'm inclined to believe what he says about the Olm. That said, I know he'll have to learn a lot more about style on Wikipedia, especially when editing a featured article. I discussed the issue with him already, but you know how's with older people and new technologies...
And BTW, thanks for the barnstar.

Re No quorum?

Hi Yerpo,

Per the description at the top of the Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates page: "For promotion, if an image is listed here for about seven days with four or more reviewers in support (excluding the nominator(s)) and the consensus is in its favor, it can be added to the Wikipedia:Featured pictures list...".

This minimum was recently upped from 3 + nominator to 4 + nominator (see Wikipedia_talk:Featured_picture_candidates/Archive_25#Changing_to_Minimum_of_5_Supports), so indeed this was unfortunate as two months ago it would have been promoted.

You will note that I allowed it an extra day (eight days) to see if it would garner more votes. There's not really any exact time for how long nominations get, to a large extent it simply depends on when a closer comes along, but there has been considerable discussion (often unpleasant) on this point and about nominations being left open for long periods at FPC:Talk during this year.

If you disagree with my decision you can challenge it at the nomination (that's why we now have the 'Recently closed' section on the FPC page which was only added during this year) or at FPC:Talk. Alternatively you are welcome to renominate at any time, especially for a nomination such as this that had support but not enough votes.

Cheers, --jjron (talk) 22:46, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, I somehow managed to miss that. — Yerpo Eh? 07:16, 15 December 2009 (UTC)
Oh, in case you were wondering why I included the 'no quorum' comment, that's intended as a bit of an indicator that the image may be suitable for a renomination at some point. In the last two or three months there's probably been at least half a dozen noms that had been closed as no quorum or no consensus earlier in the year, but were promoted after renominations. There's no guarantee of later success, but sometimes they seem to attract more attention on a second run. If you want to renominate I'd suggest leaving it at least a month, possibly a bit longer. --jjron (talk) 13:40, 15 December 2009 (UTC)
Of course, I understand. I intend to re-nominate in spring when the... atmosphere works more in favour of this kind of motives. And don't get me wrong, I'm not offended by you declaring failure of the nomination. I just wasn't sure about the procedure when there's not enough votes. — Yerpo Eh? 13:58, 15 December 2009 (UTC)

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 18:43, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

supercars

Thanks for making that more encyclopaedic... a part of you dying seems a bit harsh though! As the player of the game, it would be "you" performing those actions, after all.

(And man, do you have that article on watch or something? That must have been about a 30 second response time :) 77.102.101.220 (talk) 13:02, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

Hi. I saw your edit by chance when I clicked on the list of recent changes. As for the "you" part, I'm sorry if it sounded harsh, but encyclopedic articles aren't just indended for players of the game (I, for one, never played it). It sounds like reading the game's manual which encyclopedia is not. — Yerpo Eh? 13:07, 9 April 2011 (UTC)
Sure, no problem. As for the thing with the external links, I didn't realise that was policy. My apologies. Would it be alright to either add the images to the wiki repository, or have the links as reference-type footnotes, ie there's superscript numbers (or that box with an arrow in... you can tell i'm not expert here can't you...) next to their names leading down to the links at the bottom? As it is the Mobygames link doesn't offer the same info without much digging, and they're useful to show how closely the designs mimic that of the original real-world cars. It's a silly bit of trivia maybe, but of interest to someone like myself who grew up playing it and could swear that they looked like 'something' vaguely familiar, but not 'what', and maybe without the time to go hunting through the net for the shots. There are internal links to said realworld cars after all.
(BTW you could've put something to that effect in the "edit reason" box when deleting them and I would have picked up on it earlier instead of going round in a big loop of add-delete-add-delete because for all I know it was someone either griefing or mistakenly thinking I was...! :) 77.102.101.220 (talk) 06:51, 14 April 2011 (UTC)
We try to avoid excessive use of copyrighted material, because Wikipedia aims to collect knowledge that is freely reusable. Only images that are crucial for understanding the subject (the game as a whole in this case) are included - more about this is explained here. I think adding images of separate cars would be excessive for this purpose. Adding links to pictures as references wouldn't be such a bad idea, actually, since there is a special chapter on cars. You can try to do it yourself - instructions are listed here - and let me know if you get stuck. The only remaining issue is, that there is no reference as to which real-world cars they look similar to, which is an original research problem. Maybe there is some publication in which game creators explain what did they use as basis for their designs (such as the game manual)? — Yerpo Eh? 07:14, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

2010

Hi Yerpo, I would just like to ask why you labled this disaster [1] as not sifficiently important...this definately made world headlines. 29 people were killed, and this coming from me who lives in another country. This has international significance, there are natural disasters that are included in the years articles that even have less of a death toll... It should definately be included.-- MelbourneStar☆ (talk to me) 14:39, 16 April 2011 (UTC)

This has been discussed before - see Talk:2010/Archive 3#Pike River Mine inclusion, and the consensus was that it doesn't belong among the world's most important events in 2010. Please note that international notability doesn't automatically mean international importance. For that, it would have to affect more than just NZ. — Yerpo Eh? 14:56, 16 April 2011 (UTC)

Linking in the Icy Tower's infobox

Discussion moved to Talk:Icy Tower#Linking in the Icy Tower's infoboxYerpo Eh? 11:36, 24 August 2011 (UTC)

Doncsecztalk 19:40, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Briga me kaj ti misliš, diploma gor ali dol.

Doncsecztalk 20:05, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Komentiral bom kar hočem in kar čutim da moram, ker dosti bolje razumem Wikipedijo kot ti. Wikipedija ni Univerza v Sombotelu. Arhivski viri so primarni viri, torej čitaj WP:PRIMARY: Material based purely on primary sources should be avoided.

Doncsecztalk 08:44, 15 September 2011 (UTC)

Markup error?

Hi Yerpo, some kind of weird markup error has appeared in the notes you added at Slovene dialects (displaying stuff like ?UNIQ485008cb1b47f5a9-nowiki-0000008F-QINU?25?UNIQ485008cb1b47f5a9-nowiki-00000090-QINU?). Some kind of link rot, maybe? Or maybe just my display? I'd appreciate it if you could take a look. Thanks, Doremo (talk) 12:58, 5 October 2011 (UTC)

Looks like a program error in displaying references. The links themselves work, it just displays garbled text instead of [xx]. Okay Yerpo. I don't want to sound rude, but please let me explain the difference between awards and award's. You implied that "In the awards history" should be corrected to "In the award's history". In this instance (awards) is perfectly correct as a noun. The award's mine = a shortened version of "The award is mine". The awards = is the plural version of the noun.

e.g Aisling Bea has won several awards. Her award's well deserved. I understand you thought you were right, so you re-edited the entry to reflect your stubbornness and mis-education. Please research before you decide to impose your misspellings upon others. There was absolutely no need to correct it to award's which isn't literally correct in this instance. Thank you for your time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tm011g6433 (talkcontribs) 11:07, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

Can you at least read my explanation and try to understand what is being said in the article? That sentence doesn't refer to multiple awards received by Aisling Bea, but the Gilded Balloon 'You are funny' award (in this case refering to it as an institution). Aisling Bea is the second person in its - the award's - history that got it twice. The article English possessive clearly states: "Nouns, noun phrases and some pronouns generally form a possessive with the suffix -'s". You seem to disagree (and if you realy didn't intend to sound rude, I must inform you that you failed miserably) so you should probably let the editors of the English possessive article know about your intellectual superiority. While you're at it, you can go teach the Guardian's Brian Logan about his stubbornness and mis-education. Just please stop wasting my time, and, if I may suggest, remove that ironic text about your manners from your user page. It's distasteful. Thank you. — Yerpo Eh? 11:35, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

Can you even read properly what I'm telling you. eg Signifies EXAMPLE. This was why it preceded my mock-up example text to stress and highlight differences between the two examples (I suppose I should add an apostrophe and make it example's?). It also implies to me your English language skills are not exemplary enough to call yourself fluent. This was me highlighting the difference between Award's (a multitude of individual awards) and Awards (a collective way to refer to them). You have read the use of word "award's" and decided this is the only way to use that term. There can be no other, and as a revelation to the English language -we must all accept your decision. Should anybody disagree, you will impose your erroneous use of the English Language upon people (which you demonstrated by your arrogance and failure to discuss before you edited). The word became Award's because it was plural in the newspaper article (which means more than one!).

As an entity, the Award Ceremony is ONLY refered to as "awards" which I PREVIOUSLY pointed out via the Wiktionary link. This refers to the entity, not the number. And if you had bothered to pay attention to the very article you quoted, you would have noticed the demonstrated use of Awards in the second last paragraph:

"Nica Burns, the West End theatre producer and organiser of the Edinburgh comedy awards" [2]

To summarise, it would only be Award's if it was descriptively more than one. "The awards history" is talking about the history of THE AWARD, and as a single entity.

Thank you for your valuable time and arrogance! pfffff

Goodbye indeed! --Tm011g6433 (talk) 02:21, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

Wow, you sure can muddy the issue when you set your mind to proving you're "right". First by claiming that "award's" can only be a shortened version for "award is" (which is false), then equating the ceremony with the award as an institution (which is also false). Your l33t grammar skillz for plural are impressive, but I'm afraid that you have a slight problem with what's called functional literacy. Maybe some more examples will help? It would also help to realize that your Wiktionary example doesn't refer to any ceremony at all, but maybe I'm hoping for too much... — Yerpo Eh? 07:16, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi Yerpo,

24 hours have not passed and I am still bussy adding sources. The subject is no of the premier divers in the world and lessor divers have been inlcuded onto wikipedia. I agree that article can be written better and will comply with the request. I urge you to if you do a quick internet research to at least hit the following site http://www.eurotek.uk.com/johanboshoff.htm. He is one of the presenters of the international technical dive expo and one only gets invited if see as your peer as being notable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by PoseidonDiver (talkcontribs) 09:46, 9 October 2012 (UTC)

Please check this

Hello, I left a message at this page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Louis_Adamic#Not_his_picture Please let me know what is better to do, considering I am not a regular contributor and my time is really limited. Hvala!--Andrew Nino (talk) 15:09, 10 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi. I've removed Taghishsimon's name from the request as it appears unlikely they will do anything with it, and it's more likely to get a copy editor without one being listed. Regards, --Stfg (talk) 20:24, 18 November 2012 (UTC)

And now I've carried out the copy edit. Please would you note that I've added a {{which?}} tag in the main Biography section, as "the organism" isn't meaningful unless a specific organism has been identified. (In this case, is it the effect of electroshocks on the human body?) Regards, --Stfg (talk) 18:33, 22 November 2012 (UTC)
Thanks, I appreciate this. I specified the electroshock part and although "chemism of M. tuberculosis and electroshocks" sounds strange, this is what the source says (I misread it originally). Feel free to check it yourself if you get any better ideas, the Royal Society content is free this month. — Yerpo Eh? 21:03, 22 November 2012 (UTC)
It's OK, I have JSTOR access. But as I read it, FN1 isn't saying chemism of ... electroshocks. There's a significant comma there. I'm trying an edit to align with the way I read it, but please don't hesitate to revert it if your reading is different. --Stfg (talk) 21:44, 22 November 2012 (UTC)

Logotip Univerza v Mariboru

Hi Yerpo! How are you? I'm a beginner contributor of Wikipedia and i'm trying to write an spanish article about University of Maribor. I tried to use the logo that you uploaded but unfortunately I couldn't. Do you know why? Is any copyright protection? I thought all the media uploaded was available for any language. Thanks in advance, hope you can help me, Sole.--SoleFabrizio (talk) 02:41, 10 December 2012 (UTC)

Hi. I'm not sure what happened, but do you mean sl:File:LogotipUM.gif? Yes, all logos are copyrigted in Slovenia, so the file is uploaded locally at slwiki under "fair use" doctrine. Commons doesn't accept "fair use" files, so it cannot be uploaded there (only Commons-uploaded files are available in any language). I think Spanish Wikipedia has a policy of not allowing local uploads, so it looks like the article will have to be without the logo. But don't worry, the main building is more recognizable than the logo anyway, so it will be enough to illustrate the subject. — Yerpo Eh? 08:01, 10 December 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for cleaning up after me!

Hi Yerpo! I just realized you reverted some accidental vandalism I committed on the Movie camera page - much obliged. I had only meant to correct a few minor stylistic things, but apparently I fat-fingered the commit. Best regards, --Nettings (talk) 19:44, 16 December 2012 (UTC)
