Mystery

Please solve this mystery if you can...

On September 23rd, traffic to Portal:James Bond doubled, and has stayed at the new level since then. I can't figure out what happened.

See http://stats.grok.se/en/201109/Portal%3AJames_Bond

Traffic to Outline of James Bond stayed the same (though it was at the higher-level already), which leads me to suspect changes made somewhere in Wikipedia.

See http://stats.grok.se/en/201109/Outline%20of%20James_Bond

I'd like to find out what happened, in case it reveals helpful link placement tips that can double the traffic to outlines too!

I look forward to your reply. The Transhumanist 22:34, 5 October 2011 (UTC)

Please help fill in annotations at Portal:Contents/Outlines

Please go to Portal:Contents/Outlines' and fill in as many missing annotations as you can, even if it's only one or two. Every little bit helps!

The annotating of the entries on Portal:Contents/Outlines is nearing completion.

Annotated entries look like this:

  • Basketball – team sport in which two teams of five players try to score points by throwing or "shooting" a ball through the top of a basketball hoop while following a set of rules.
  • Canoeing and kayaking – two closely related forms of watercraft paddling, involving manually propelling and navigating specialized boats called canoes and kayaks using a blade that is joined to a shaft, known as a paddle, in the water.
  • Cricket – bat-and-ball team sport, the most popular form played on an oval-shaped outdoor arena known as a cricket field at the centre of which is a rectangular 22-yard (20.12 m) long pitch that is the focus of the game.
  • Martial arts – extensive systems of codified practices and traditions of combat, practiced for a variety of reasons, including self-defense, competition, physical health and fitness, as well as mental and spiritual development.

Entries needing annotations look like this:

Even if all you can do is one or two, the support will be greatly felt. Many hands make light work.

Thank you. The Transhumanist 00:29, 7 October 2011 (UTC)

Edits for the "Ready or Not: Creating a high school diploma that counts" page

Hello!

Thank you so much for reviewing my page. I am working on this page as part of a graduate school project, and would love some help getting the article approved for the site! I noticed that the comments left on the page mentioned disorganization and heavy reliance on one source. Can you give me some suggestions to more effectively organize? And where do you feel the article relies too heavily on one source? Is there information that you feel should be backed up by more sources? I hope to hear from you soon!Fareedrmostoufi (talk) 17:17, 26 October 2011 (UTC)Fareedrmostoufi

New Page Patrolling

Hi. Thank you for patrolling new pages. I noticed you recently userfied a sandbox created in error to User:Zizou12/sandbox. I'm just wondering if you remembered to leave message on the user's talk page with a link to the new location of their sandbox, and to mark the redirect page for deletion. Happy patrolling! --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 12:57, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

Hi, I moved your story (and credit) over to Tech Report just now. Hope you don't mind, it just seems better placed there. Cheers, ResMar 23:27, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

  • It's no problem at all, I appreciate it. Thanks, Tarheel95 (talk) 00:18, 29 October 2011 (UTC)

GOCE drive newsletter

Invitation from the Guild of Copy Editors

The Guild of Copy Editors invites you to participate in their November 2011 Backlog elimination drive, a month-long effort to reduce the size of the copy edit backlog. The drive begins on November 1 at 00:00 (UTC) and ends on November 30 at 23:59 (UTC). We will be tracking the number of 2010 articles (and specifically will be targeting the oldest three months), as we want to copy edit as many of these as possible. Barnstars will be awarded to anyone who copy edits more than 4,000 words, and special awards will be given to the top 5 in the following categories: "Number of articles", "Number of words", and "Number of articles of over 5,000 words". We hope to see you there! – Your drive coordinators: Diannaa, Chaosdruid, The Utahraptor, Slon02, and SMasters.
