Great! This should be fun. There's a couple of ways we can start, and it's really up to you. If you feel a bit lost, you probably have questions, which is a good thing. I've always felt that the day I stop having questions will be the day I die. So, ask away...no question is too small, and though I might not always know the answer, we'll certainly be able to find it.

Second, I looked though your past contributions, and saw that you seem to have an interest in writing about ballet (a subject that I'm sadly lacking in knowledge of). I read through your article Jeffrey Golladay, and was quite impressed. It's a well-done article for even an experienced editor...for a newbie to build this right out of the gate shows that you definitely have what it takes to do a lot of good things here. So, the second route we could take is to revisit that one, because there are a number of small formatting things that could be improved in it, and that will help you learn the little nuts and bolts things; details are often the only difference between a really good article and a "professional" grade article.

• Thanks for the compliments *blush*. I intend to keep writting on ballet topics since it's my forte, so to speak. I don't want to bombard you with questions so if you know of a useful wiki-help-page to answer my (future) questions, that should be enough. I'm still struggling with things like formatting, html (I know just the basics and things like alignment still escape me) and style. Any html tutorials that you know of on here will be of much help.

Does the colon sign alter alignment then? There's so much I don't know about!

Feel free to make any changes to the formatting of my article(s). That'll give me a chance to compare them to old edits and see how they could be improved. And once again: thanks a lot for the help/guidance!

Hi Tanya! I have just a quick moment, but will get back to you with more details. For talk pages like this, yes, the colon is the preferred way to align the messages within a thread. So, on this particular topic, you started fully left aligned, I used one colon before I started typing, and if you reply, you'd use two. As for the signature, yup, there's a really handy shortcut...just type four tildas, like this: ~~~~ and you name and time stamp will automatically be inserted. I'll definitely point you to the places you can read, but bombarding me with questions isn't a problem, either! More to come in a little while...I have a helicopter to go take care of! Hi again! Several things to hit on, now that I'm home....

It would probably be best to keep our conversations separate from your talk page, so that it wouldn't be cluttered with my ramblings. I would suggest that you start a sandbox. That's a great place for things like this, and for working on articles before they're ready to launch. How to do that, you ask? You edit your user page and create a link that looks like this: [[User:Tanyawade/sandbox]], then save the page. Now, you should see that link as a redlink. Click on it, and you're ready to start editing it! Let me know when you've got that up and running, and I'll start move my conversation over there.

Ok, with your passion for ballet, it looks like you need to get involved with Wikipedia:WikiProject Ballet! This is a group of editors who have the same passion that you do, and who have come together to come up with a set of guidelines for making all the ballet articles consistent and compatible with each other. There's a spot there for adding new articles, and I'd suggest that you do so. I'd also suggest that you add the project's tag to your article's talk page. Then, go to the project's talk page and introduce yourself! I'm not a member there, but I am involved in several other WikiProjects, and I can tell you that the people involved in these fast become great friends, and will go out of their way to help you improve your articles. They also have a "to do" list of ballet-related articles that need work or writing, and you might find something there that will really get you started.

As far as your article, I'm not gonna have a chance to do any formatting on it right away, but here's two suggestions for you at the moment: All book, ballet, movie, magazine and newspaper names should be italicized. To italicize, you just use two single-quote-marks, so when you're editing, it'll look like this: ''italicized text here''. This, and many other formatting tidbits, is covered in our Manual of Style

You mentioned not knowing much HTML...the great news is that Wiki is a language of its own, different than HTML, and much simpler to learn and remember!

Hi Tanya, just stopped in to see how you were doing.... The changes in the article look great, I see that you hooked up with the project. You're doing wonderfully...keep up the great work! Ok, today's tip, coming from a minor formatting fix in the Jewels article. You know how here in the US we tend to write dates as "June 30, 2007" while in a lot of Europe they write it as "30 June, 2007"? Well, Wikipedia has a neat little feature in the User Preferences section that allows a user to set how they prefer to see dates. To make this work, on Wikipedia, we prefer all the dates to be wikilinked. So, when you're in the edit mode, you type the date like this: [[June 30]], [[2007]]. That way the system knows to format the date per the user's preferred method.

Oh, and Bravo! on submitting the Golladay article for GA consideration! Be prepared, as some of the GA reviewers are very picky, and will suggest many detailed changes. Don't let it discourage you, just take the time and polish and polish again. In the end, it's well worth it! The feeling you get when you get that congrats message that an article of yours meets GA criteria is wonderful.

Hi again - sorry about the delay in replying. I have been so busy with work and other stuff I never got round to doing it. I'm not too upset about the article not passing the GA standard, I just thought I'd give it a try and it's great to have some feedback. I have now created a sandbox (thanks for the tip!) so we'll be able to keep our long ramblings there. I'm going home now so hopefully I'll be able to type a long reply with a few questions thrown in sometime tomorrow. Do you have access to archived copies of Mensa Magazine? There's a debate over on Atheism over whether a citation made by Richard Dawkins about a study published by Paul Bell in Feb. 2002 (pp. 12–13) is accurate, and none of us can find the original study. johnpseudo 17:07, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

I do have quite a few old copies but not as old as 2002, I'm afraid. I really don't know if they'll send me a copy of that particular issue if I ask for it but if you think it's worth me trying let me know and I'll be happy to send it to you or scan the article if necessary. I don't use the member pages very often, sorry. I receive the mag by post. I just had a quick look through the members pages but couldnt find anything at all. Hi Tanyawade! Sorry to bother you but this subject has just come up again on Religiosity and intelligence. A few people have been trying to track down this source without luck so far. Yesterday, I requested the article from the British Library's Document Supply Service but they weren't able to find a copy, despite it being in their catalogue (they didn't give a reason). Spam in Sunshine Studios

WikiProject Dance

Hello, I’m contacting you because you are a participant in WikiProject Dance. Myself and another editor, User:Mwacha are interested in developing some notability guidelines on WikiProject Dance for dancers, dance critics, performers, and other genre articles as there is no such thing at the moment comparable to what I have heard other editors use for Visual Arts, IE “if they are collected in a major museum, then they are considered notable.” There are of course exceptions to this standard but it is nice to have a rule of thumb to help with AfD, and other moderated discussions.
