References for RFC

Hi, I hope you don't mind that I moved the refs for your RFC. They're in a collapsed box so it's easy to access them but they don't get in the way. The way it is now, your refs will not go in the wrong place here. Cheers. Anythingyouwant (talk) 05:54, 17 September 2017 (UTC)

ah, I should have thought of that! Thank you! Regards, Shibbolethink ( ) 06:57, 17 September 2017 (UTC)
I have never seen a Wikipedia article link to talk page. There's probably a policy about it somewhere. I think the best thing would be to insert a hidden note. Do you know how to do that? <!--Like this--> Anythingyouwant (talk) 17:43, 22 September 2017 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for September 19

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Picador (imprint), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Patrick McCabe (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Deletion sorting for /r/science

I have removed your listing of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion//r/science on Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Academics and educators. /r/science is not a professor, and professors are the main topic of that deletion sorting listing. —David Eppstein (talk) 21:01, 27 November 2018 (UTC)

Of course! My bad, I thought this sort of delsort was also for articles related to Academics and educators. But I acknowledge the sorting was not the most apt. Thanks for the help--Shibbolethink ( ) 21:03, 27 November 2018 (UTC)

Waldorf education discretionary sanctions

Hi. ArbCom are considering removing discretionary sanctions from Waldorf education and related articles. I note you recently had concerns regarding one of the editors who was a party to the Waldorf case: [1]. Do you have any views on the matter? If so, please comment at: [2]. SilkTork (talk) 09:15, 23 February 2019 (UTC)

Thank you for the heads up! Comment posted. Depending on how the discussion develops, should I post a notice in relevant wikiprojects or noticeboards? We had that discussion a few months ago in which many editors appeared interested. --Shibbolethink ( ) 20:51, 23 February 2019 (UTC)

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Buzz Aldrin

If you have information on the copyright status of File:Congressional Gold Medal Astronauts.jpg, you should post it to the discussion at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Buzz Aldrin/archive1. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 20:36, 5 March 2019 (UTC)

@Hawkeye7: The perfect should not be the enemy of the good, and featured article status should not eclipse the actual utility and presentation of the article. Why not leave in the image until confirmation is received? This is like saying a dollar may not be public domain because a mint made it. It doesn't matter, if the image is owned by the US Government. We shouldn't be so afraid of copyright that we start retroactively enforcing it on things we don't even know are privately copyrighted. And all of this besides, I do wish you had linked to that discussion in the edit summary of your removal of the image. You gave no explanation whatsoever, and I couldn't find any reference on the talk page.--Shibbolethink ( ) 20:42, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
Leaving the image in could have imperilled the article's promotion, so the better course of action seemed to be to remove and restore when its copyright status was clarified. The fact is that many editors are very afraid of copyright, which is why an image review was added to FAC in the first place. The talk page links to the FAC page, but I should have put "Changes per FAC" in the comment. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 19:55, 6 March 2019 (UTC)
