Anarchism[edit]

Hi Michalis Vazaios,

I saw your work on articles related to anarchism and wanted to say hello, as I work in the topic area too. If you haven't already, you might want to watch our noticeboard for Wikipedia's coverage of anarchism, which is a great place to ask questions, collaborate, discuss style/structure precedent, and stay informed about content related to anarchism. Take a look for yourself!

And if you're looking for other juicy places to edit, consider expanding a stub, adopting a cleanup category, or participating in one of our current formal discussions.

Feel free to say hi on my talk page and let me know if these links were helpful (or at least interesting). Hope to see you around. czar 21:52, 29 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
Nice to meet you. I didn't have much time the last month, so sorry for the long response time. I saw your links and I am interested in helping expand Wikipedia's coverage of Anarchism. I added two articles (La Canadenca strike and Montjuïc trial) to the Anarchism stubs category. Another article that could be created and added there could be about the Río Tinto strike and massacre but I don't have the right to create a Wikipedia article from zero yet (if you agree about the "encyclopedicity" of the suggested article, please create it even as a one-sentence stub article and I will fill in more information). Michalis Vazaios (talk) 06:21, 3 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Great to hear and good find! Started it: Rio Tinto massacre. Workersliberty.org does not appear to be a reliable, secondary source so I'd stick to sources like scholarly monographs to make sure the information is vetted. I've cited some in the article to get started. Also feel free to create new drafts in your userspace, like User:Michalis Vazaios/sandbox and someone can always move it elsewhere later. Happy editing! czar 05:01, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Athens[edit]

Hello Michalis! I undid your recent version on the Athens climate. I think you might have missed the pdf file from the official HNMS source called Το κλίμα της Ελλάδας page 3. You will notice there that the source verbatim says (in Greek) that the Athens Basin registers the highest average annual temperature in Greece with 19.8C. Let me know if something is unclear! I would be happy to help Weatherextremes (talk) 02:18, 4 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I indeed have missed the pdf. Thanks :) Michalis Vazaios (talk) 05:12, 4 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia and copyright[edit]

Control copyright icon Hello Michalis Vazaios! Your additions to Emidio Recchioni have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 17:08, 4 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Diannaa! I didn't know, thanks for clarifying. I made a new edit on the same article summarizing only a part of the source, hope its OK. Michalis Vazaios (talk) 17:36, 4 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Maximiliano Tornet moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Maximiliano Tornet, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Stubs[edit]

Hi there! I see you've added Category:Anarchist stubs to quite a few articles, which I'm switching to {{Anarchist-stub}}. Per WP:TAGSTUB, "After writing a short article, or finding an unmarked stub, you should insert a stub template. Choose from among the templates listed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Stub types, or just use the generic {{stub}}, which others can sort later. Stubs should never be manually added to stub categories—always use a template." Thanks, and happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 23:41, 28 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the tip! I will (try to) do so from now on. Happy editing to you too! Michalis Vazaios (talk) 19:04, 29 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Infoboxes[edit]

Hi. Thanks for your work on Greek World War II related articles. Please use <br> instead of | combatant2a, | combatant2b when you want to list multiple belligerents fighting on the same side in a conflict (MOS:INFOBOX). The infobox is also supposed to precede the lede (WP:LEDE). Cheers. Catlemur (talk) 18:40, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Attributing translated text[edit]

Hi, thank you for your recent additions! I wanted to leave a note, since it looks like some of these new articles were translated from another language Wikipedia, to remember to attribute the original text in both your edit summary and with a template on the talk page {{translated from}}. Wikipedia text uses a Creative Commons license (cc-by-sa) so copying is only a copyright violation when the terms of the license aren't followed, namely that the source of the text be properly attributed. Could you add attribution (WP:TFOLWP) on your recent additions to such an issue? Let me know if you need a hand! czar 13:25, 31 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the info! I think I understand what I should do in the talk page(s) of the articles created by translation and of the articles where I added content by translation. For past edits I assume I can't edit the edit summary and attribute the original text in the edit summary as well, right? (But I can do so for the edits from now on). Michalis Vazaios (talk) 07:36, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, yep that's right! When I need to "edit" an edit summary, I sometimes add a Help:Dummy edit (a minor change in formatting as an excuse to add a supplemental edit summary to the record) but it wouldn't make sense to do this if there are many edits between the original edit summary and the would-be new one. czar 12:53, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Reversion at Federica Montseny[edit]

Hey, I reverted your addition of a claim cited to Kaplan 2012 that Federica Montseny was a "founder of the Mujeres Libres". I initially couldn't find the citation, so just removed it. But having now found the source that was alluded to, I confirmed that it never verifiably mentions Montseny as a founder. The cited page describes Sánchez Saornil, Poch y Gascón and Comaposada as the founders, which aligns with every other source I have one the subject. But the book never even mentions Montseny at all.

Just letting you know the reasons for reversion here, as I wasn't able to include all of this in the edit summary. -- Grnrchst (talk) 09:38, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
