Yinka Okeleye moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Yinka Okeleye, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three, to be safe. And please remember that interviews, as primary sources, do not count towards GNG.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.Onel5969 TT me 13:36, 29 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Mevoelo (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

Caught by an open proxy block but this host or IP is not an open proxy. My IP address is 102.89.43.141. I want to kindly request for an unblock. I do not use open proxies neither have I ever participated in any act of peer-to-peer proxy. I think the block may have been placed mistakenly because I do not have any affiliation(s) with other users to exploit traffic using my network. Please kindly unblock me and if possible, inform me of any technical oversight(s) perhaps on my end that may have contributed to a block placement. Also, all proxy settings are disabled on my computer, I access the internet through my iPhone's wifi which is used by me only. I have left no stone unturned on my own part in figuring out why the block was placed but I can't seem to find any. In addition, my last edit was on the 15/05/2023 around 20:00hrs or thereabout. All contributions made on Wikipedia are done solely by me with no infiltration for any other user. Please help me have this rectified. Many thanks

Decline reason:

Procedural decline as, since you are not directly blocked, I can't lift the block and you can edit from other IPs. Yes, we understand you weren't doing anything untoward; it's just that some sysadmins for whatever reason configure their servers in a way that sets off our proxy detectors. Yes, the IP you gave is blocked; open proxy blocks are as a practical matter difficult to get lifted because you have to really know your networking. What I suggest you do instead is go to WP:IPECPROXY and follow the instructions there to request IP block exemption through email. That could take care of this issue permanently. — Daniel Case (talk) 06:25, 16 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

A tag has been placed on Emmanuel Iren requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Emmanuel Iren. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Speedy deletion nomination of Emmanuel Iren[edit]

Hello Mevoelo,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Emmanuel Iren for deletion, because it's a redirect from an article title to a namespace that's not for articles.

If you don't want Emmanuel Iren to be deleted, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on T Dollar requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

I am concerned that you used your !vote there to include an accusation of bias. You should discuss this first with the editor concerned, not place your concern in public forum in that manner. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 07:52, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks for sharing your concerns. I’ll have that corrected. However, I have noticed that this particular editor places tags on several profiles without proper check and research. If a subject is not notable is not region, it is important to do well to double-check before moving the works of other editors to draft especially when all requirements according to Wikipedia editorial policies have been met. Also, it was not an accusation — I only stated that there is a high possibility of such happening which I have observed longitudinally. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Mevoelo (talk) 07:57, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The issue I have with "not the first editor to point this out" is that it may cause an accidental 'Pile On' effect. Bias is to be deprecated. We must all be very careful to weigh other people's opinions with care, comparing them with evidence, lest we form part of a well meaning group of folk with pitchforks.
If you see true bias (I am making no comment on this particular accusation) and an editor does not respond well to enquiries, I would suggest one of the official routes. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 08:06, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much for sharing your concerns. I am very open to corrections and learning. I will do well to withdraw my statement and do the needful appropriately. I appreciate you! Cheers. Mevoelo (talk) 08:13, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I am grateful. Again, I make no comment about the rights and wrongs of the accusation. Wikipedia is a better place for editors who listen to advice, and, if that advice is correct, who act on it. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 08:19, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I will act and do better next time. Cheers! Mevoelo (talk) 08:29, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Can you kindly explain what you mean by more sources to establish notability? The sources well establish notability and all are from reputable newspapers. I was deliberate about this biography by making sure that all sources are reputable as you said in our previous conversation on my talk page. I can also see more than two dozen of articles you’ve created with 2-3 references about non-notable subjects which I can go ahead to point out and also draftify. I think you’re being too forward with moving jobs without research and findings. Cheers! Mevoelo (talk) 06:07, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Creation of articles are not something you rush into. You learn the basis. INTERVIEWS DOES NOT ESTABLISH NOTABILITY! how do I explain this to you. You moved Denny Kalyalya in you attempt for revenge without reading WP:NPOL. I am wondering how you would think that the governor of a central bank is not notable. JUST HOW? You think I go around creating non notable articles? The move you made was done in bad faith and I would report your account to the appropriate place for discussion if further bad faith edits persist. Also, always inform the creator of an article when you move an article to draftspace. Also, per WP:DRAFTIFY, you should not DRAFTIFY an article that has been in mainspace for more than 30 days. Read policies before fighting for revenge or whatever it is you're doing. Best, Reading Beans (talk) 20:00, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for pointing out the DRAFTITY etiquettes. I would have that in mind. Did you say an article cannot be draftified after 30 days? Peterson Okopi was draftified after more than two months despite being reviewed. What do we say about that? I have noted your corrections. However, you should do well to also take yours as well. No act was done in revenge but in good faith and as per Wiki guidelines. Sorry for not mentioning it in your talk page, I’m still familiarizing myself with the process. Also explain how an article with two non-notable references establish notability? Cheers! Mevoelo (talk) 20:07, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft article, Draft:Yinka Okeleye[edit]

Hello, Mevoelo. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Yinka Okeleye".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. When you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 07:48, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Adding signature[edit]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. Otuọcha (talk) 17:16, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks for this.
Cheers! Mevoelo (talk) 17:29, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

AFDs[edit]

Hello, Mevoelo,

If you are going to participate in AFD deletion discussions, please offer more helpful comments than "looks notable to me" or "seems notable". These comments are empty and say nothing at all about the article. It's not clear that you read the article or investigated the sources. If you could be more specific like stating WHICH sources supply SIGCOV or establish GNG, that would be a contribution to the discussion. But just offering your impression on the article is likely to be ignored by the closer. It takes commitment to thoughtfully participate in AFDs and if it is too demanding, then maybe you should find another area of the project to work in. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 07:46, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks for drawing my attention to this. I’ll do better in future AFDs. Thank you big time. Mevoelo (talk) 07:50, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
