Arbitration

  • A motion was passed to enact a 500/30 restriction on articles related to the history of Jews and antisemitism in Poland during World War II (1933–45), including the Holocaust in Poland. Article talk pages where disruption occurs may also be managed with the stated restriction.

Inappropriate external links

Just a heads up about these links I found this morning. There's a new user that's trying to promote the Pan American Billiards and Snooker Association (PABSA) via the External links section in several snooker articles. I've just removed some of them myself. Please see the user's contributions and my notice on their Talk page. I thought you should know because there may be more. Have a good day! Rodney Baggins (talk) 09:32, 5 June 2020 (UTC)

No worries. Take it through the regular warnings system. For what it's worth, the organisation is probably notable enough for an article, but adding them as unsuitable ELs isn't. Quite happy to drop a WP:NOT ban if it continues. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 15:32, 5 June 2020 (UTC)

Triple Crown

Let me know you'd also like me to leave you the awards for the 'Standard' and 'Imperial' Triple Crowns, since you technically could have applied for them earlier. :) Damien Linnane (talk) 11:21, 7 June 2020 (UTC)

Congratulations to Lee Vilenski, who is awarded the Imperial Napoleonic Triple Crown for their fantastic contributions to Wikipedia, ironically including an article on a type of Triple Crown! Damien Linnane (talk) 11:21, 7 June 2020 (UTC)

DYK for 2011 WPA World Nine-ball Championship

On 10 June 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article 2011 WPA World Nine-ball Championship, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that defending champion Francisco Bustamante was reportedly distracted by a press photographer at the 2011 WPA World Nine-ball Championship and lost in a knockout round? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/2011 WPA World Nine-ball Championship. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, 2011 WPA World Nine-ball Championship), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

I found this page, User talk:Lee Vilenski/Archive 1 where it doesn't seem to be part of your regular archives. I found it when I clicked it in your talk page header. Not sure if you want to fix it or not. Interstellarity (talk) 12:40, 17 June 2020 (UTC)

It's from the "one click archiver" tool. I did know it was there... But I can't see the need to particularly fix it. I don't use the tool very often. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 17:27, 17 June 2020 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer newsletter June 2020

Hello Lee Vilenski/Archives/2020,

Your help can make a difference

NPP Sorting can be a great way to find pages needing new page patrolling that match your strengths and interests. Using ORES, it divides articles into topics such as Literature or Chemistry and on Geography. Take a look and see if you can find time to patrol a couple pages a day. With over 10,000 pages in the queue, the highest it's been since ACPERM, your help could really make a difference.

Google Adds New Languages to Google Translate

In late February, Google added 5 new languages to Google Translate: Kinyarwanda, Odia (Oriya), Tatar, Turkmen and Uyghur. This expands our ability to find and evaluate sources in those languages.

Discussions and Resources
  • A discussion on handling new article creation by paid editors is ongoing at the Village Pump.
  • Also at the Village Pump is a discussion about limiting participation at Articles for Deletion discussion.
  • A proposed new speedy deletion criteria for certain kinds of redirects ended with no consensus.
  • Also ending with no change was a proposal to change how we handle certain kinds of vector images.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Johnathan Bagley requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
