Welcome to the 2019 WikiCup!

Hello and Happy New Year!

Welcome to the 2019 WikiCup, the competition begins today. If you have already joined, your submission page can be found here. If you have not yet signed up, you can add your name here and we will set up your submissions page. One important rule to remember is that only content on which you have completed significant work during 2019, and which you have nominated this year, is eligible for points in the competition, the judges will be checking! Any questions should be directed to one of the judges, or left on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup. Signups will close at the end of January, and the first round will end on 26 February; the 64 highest scorers at that time will make it to round 2. Good luck! The judges for the WikiCup are Sturmvogel 66 (talk · contribs · email), Godot13 (talk · contribs · email), Vanamonde93 (talk · contribs · email) and Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs · email). Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Orphaned non-free image File:B.C.E. (2017 video game).jpg

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:B.C.E. (2017 video game).jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 03:25, 4 January 2019 (UTC)

GA Nomination: Lebanon national football team

Hi,

I have noticed that you have been active in nominating and reviewing sports articles for GA nominations; would it be possible for you to take a look at my Lebanon national football team article nomination if you had time?

Thanks, Nehme1499 (talk) 15:07, 9 December 2018 (UTC)

Hi Nehme1499 - I am currently in the process of a review for Playstation Portable, as well as my own nomination for 2018 World Snooker Championship. Generally, I try to do GA reviews when I have the energy, and most often for articles that have been waiting for a while for a review.
I would review this article, however I am slightly behind with my own wikipedia work. I'd also suggest that as your article isn't yet a month old, it might take some time for it to be reviewed (my article for WrestleMania IV is over 5 months, for example). It's also good practice to review an article for every nomination you do, so the backlog eventually get's cleared. If you were interested in doing a review for me, however, I'd review yours in return. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 12:22, 10 December 2018 (UTC)
I would be glad to help you review another article, such as Playstation Portable; if there is anything I can do please let me know! --Nehme1499 (talk) 12:53, 10 December 2018 (UTC)
Nehme1499 Would you be up for WrestleMania IV? I've promoted WrestleMania II in the past, so you would have a few GAs for reference 1-3 are all GAs. I'll do yours the moment I get time. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 14:06, 10 December 2018 (UTC)
Sure, no problem. I am only answering now because I didn't see the notification...
Would you be able to tell me how the reviewing process works, what I have to do ecc...? Nehme1499 (talk) 23:42, 14 December 2018 (UTC)
Absolutely. There's actually really good instructions on the WP:GA page. On a GA review, there's actually a list of criteria a GA should meet (see Wikipedia:Good article criteria).
many different reviewers have their own opinions on what articles need to do to pass (and how stringent to be), but most read through the target article, make sure it fits with legal issues (copyright etc), and that it fits with all the correct guidelines.
after that, it's simply a case of making sure the article is well written, and is WP:BROAD, so there isn't things missing (if things are missing, it's a fail.) Hope that helps - Nehme1499 Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 13:45, 15 December 2018 (UTC)
Ok perfect, when I have time I will start the reviewing process for WrestleMania IV. Nehme1499 (talk) 14:57, 15 December 2018 (UTC)

Nehme1499 - I'll get yours started soon. I'm knee deep into a project with WP:SNOOKER atm, so it may take me a while (as I have the aforementioned GA review of PSP, and 2018 World Snooker Championship) underway, but I'll get to it whenever I can! Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 15:17, 17 December 2018 (UTC)

@Lee Vilenski: Hi, I just wanted to let you know that @Miniapolis finished the copyedit on the Lebanon national football team article! The article's quality has been massively improved, so I just wanted to know your opinion on the current state of the page. Also, I will continue the review on WrestleMania IV next week after my exams. Nehme1499 (talk) 01:20, 4 January 2019 (UTC)
Nehme1499 - Great news. I'll get to it as soon as I can. I've put myself quite deep into some articles on cue sports, so It'll be next week. My other review withdrew their nom, so it'll be my focus on the GA review front. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:12, 4 January 2019 (UTC)

The WikiCup

As a WikiCup judge, I have removed your submission of the GA for the 2018 World Snooker Championship. It does not qualify for the 2019 WikiCup because the substantial work on the article was done during 2018 and not during this year's contest. The WikiCup rules explain this in greater detail.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 16:58, 7 January 2019 (UTC)

Hi Sturmvogel 66 - Thanks for letting me know! Another user mentioned this in passing shortly before you removed this, sorry for that, I totally misunderstood the rules (I simply thought articles needed to become GA within the round for this). I'll make sure to check thouroughly before adding next time. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 17:00, 7 January 2019 (UTC)

Thank you

Hi! Thank you on promoting the Lebanon national football team article to GA, I really appreciate your professionality, hard work and dedication in trying to improve every aspect of the article. I really hope that we will work together another time!

P.S. I will start working on the WrestleMania IV GA nomination this week, sorry for being late!

Thanks again, I couldn't thank you enough! Nehme1499 (talk) 18:43, 9 January 2019 (UTC)

No problem Nehme1499. Just be aware that I am in Poland from Monday-Thursday next week, so if I don't respond, that is the reason, and will comment on anything on my return, if the GA is still working over that period.
Congrats on the review. Was this your first GA article? Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 21:38, 9 January 2019 (UTC)
Ok, I'll keep in mind for the Wreslemania IV nomination. Yes, this is my first GA, not sure how many more I will do though as it took me a lot to get the article to the point at which is it now (but I am, of course, very satisfied with my work). Nehme1499 (talk) 21:53, 9 January 2019 (UTC)
I think that all depends on what you wish to accomplish on wikipedia, Nehme1499. GA's and by extension FA/FLs require a lot of work, but that's kinda the point of it. I spread my workload to all sorts of projects (video games, cue sports, professional wrestling, etc), but be pleased with your work. If you need a hand with anything (not that I'm all that experienced), let me know. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:07, 11 January 2019 (UTC)

Page for deletion

Why it must be deleted? I can't find them anywhere! It's hard to explain! — Preceding unsigned comment added by CuteDolphin712 (talkcontribs) 16:40, 22 January 2019 (UTC)

CuteDolphin712 - The article in question Ensemble Stars! doesn't pass WP:GNG, which is wikipedia's inclusion criteria for articles. If sources don't exist, the article is not notable. Right now, this is only a deletion discussion, and you are more than welcome to put your argument ahead. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 09:13, 23 January 2019 (UTC)

12:49:48, 29 January 2019 review of draft by JMBARRY87 JMBARRY87 (talk · contribs) (TB) Draft:Sylvermay (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Hello Lee,

Thank you for your answer. Following to it, I did some researches and I just found this interview of the musician by EDM Ranks which is an independant website, https://edmranks.com/blog/sylvermay-interview-exclusive/ do you think it matches the need to confirm the draft as an article? Also would this also work if releases are featured on the famous DJMag.com? https://djmag.com/music/trance/solarflame or https://djmag.com/music/trance/im-alone-2011

Thank you ! :)

Hi guys NavyGrape51 I just started wikipedia with the idea to contribute in adding music artists which I think deserve an article here and also because their name figures in already published wikipedia articles. I have sent a first draft but it seemed that it has been rejected for not significant coverage? I don't undersand what is missing as the links I provided are coming from different sources independant from the musician, except his webpage. You can find my draft on looking at JMBARRY87 : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Sylvermay Thank you for your help. JMBARRY87 (talk) 12:49, 29 January 2019 (UTC)

JMBARRY87 - Welcome to Wikipedia. Your draft lacks reliable sources. For inclusion on wikipedia, articles on musicians have to meet the guidelines at WP:NMUSIC. The sources you have cited don't really cut it, as they are generally only discographies, or simple bio listings. I'm not sure of if the trance in france piece is WP:ROUTINE coverage, and doesn't fit; but that's the sort of thing you are looking for. Independent reliable sources that write prose about the subject. JMBARRY87 (talk) 14:44, 29 January 2019 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by JMBARRY87 (talkcontribs)

JMBARRY87 - The first one for sure looks like a decent shout. The other two probably add towards notability, but not by much, as they aren't very in-depth. However, I'd add them to the article, and anything else you can find and nominate the article again. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 15:09, 29 January 2019 (UTC)

I made changes by adding the links mentionned before, as well as artists Discogs page, Review on The Music Essentials on his tracks, Club events articles were he figures in the line up. Hopefully it will work now :) Thanks for the kind help Lee!

JMBARRY87 (talk) 12:41, 31 January 2019 (UTC)

Hello Lee,

I hope you are well. I made the changes and sent the draft : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Sylvermay for re-review. However I cannot see it in the pending list, do you know how much time it does take?

Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by JMBARRY87 (talkcontribs) 11:37, 31 January 2019 (UTC)

JMBARRY87 - It has been resubmitted. I generally only review articles that are in my knowledge domain, but the information as to re-review can be found at the bottom of the page. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 12:41, 31 January 2019 (UTC)

Ok Thank you! Will then wait for it :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by JMBARRY87 (talkcontribs) 13:07, 31 January 2019 (UTC)
