List of world snooker champions

Hi! Please review my recent changes to List of world snooker champions and amend as appropriate. Mid-table probably isn't the best place for the addition, but that's where the request for clarification had been. Thanks! BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 22:02, 5 December 2019 (UTC)

Hi BennyOnTheLoose the actual text looks good - I'd suggest it being written as a note (such as {{efn}}) so it doesn't stand out so much on the table. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 11:17, 8 December 2019 (UTC)

Thanks

I'd never used the "thanks" feature found on the page history... so I tried it for you after you changed the biography class on the page I linked. So anyway, thank you! --gobears87 (talk) 20:05, 9 December 2019 (UTC)

No problem. Yeah, you get a ping type notification (I'll send you one so you know what happens.) I should mention that references don't have to be implicit (with footnotes), you can have an article with a load of references at the bottom, and it be deemed to be referenced. However, there were a lot of issues with the first article, so I changed it to start. (Whoever wrote it doesn't know what a paragraph is.) The other one could probably be upgraded, but I only skimmed it, and I didn't feel like I was suited to do that. Have a great day. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 20:13, 9 December 2019 (UTC)
I don't think I got a "ping" but that's ok. Thanks for looking at those pages... the first wasn't horrible but really did need references and so much of the content was opinion! The Beatrix Farrand page is actually quite good and needs at least a C rating if not B. I'll consider it or mention on its talk page. :-) Thanks again! --gobears87 (talk) 20:17, 9 December 2019 (UTC) EDIT: no ping but I now see the notification - cheers!

Reshiram and Zekrom

Hey, I'd like to try my hand at a draft article for Reshiram and Zekrom; how can I get started, and how can I bring it to the WikiProject admins' attention? I've tried to look for instructions on how to submit articles, but to no avail. --Eh! Steve (talk) 19:45, 13 December 2019 (UTC)

Hi, Eh! Steve. It should be noted that creating an article on Wikipedia is one of the hardest thing to do, especially on WP:POKEMON. You would be best suited to finding WP: RELIABLE, WP:INDEPTH, WP: INDEPENDENT sources for the subject. This isn't bulbapedia, there are strict rules over what topics can be covered in Wikipedia.
With that being said, you can simply search for Draft:Zekrom and create by clicking the red link. Or, I suggest the WP: article wizard is a good place to start. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 21:23, 13 December 2019 (UTC)

6 red variant event

lee a 6 red variant event cannot and has never had the same colour coding as a 15 red event. it has to be different like previous variants.

Please discuss at the source ie Talk:Snooker season 2019/2020, rather than in multiple talk pages (such as here and user talk:Nigej). I don't really understand your prior edit summary saying multiple people agree with you, name dropping dooksfoley who has never posted in the discussions at all. There are plenty of editors who realise that it is very silly to have a weird gradient on one event, when realistically, we shouldn't have colours at all due to WP:access issues.
Please always remember to sign your posts.Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 23:04, 15 December 2019 (UTC)

Reviewer of the Year

This year's Reviewer of the Year is Rosguill. Having gotten the reviewer PERM in August 2018, they have been a regular reviewer of articles and redirects, been an active participant in the NPP community, and has been the driving force for the emerging NPP Source Guide that will help reviewers better evaluate sourcing and notability in many countries for which it has historically been difficult.

Special commendation again goes to Onel5969 who ends the year as one of our most prolific reviewers for the second consecutive year. Thanks also to Boleyn and JTtheOG who have been in the top 5 for the last two years as well.

Several newer editors have done a lot of work with CAPTAIN MEDUSA and DannyS712 (who has also written bots which have patrolled thousands of redirects) being new reviewers since this time last year.

Thanks to them and to everyone reading this who has participated in New Page Patrol this year.

Redirect autopatrol

A recent Request for Comment on creating a new redirect autopatrol pseduo-permission was closed early. New Page Reviewers are now able to nominate editors who have an established track record creating uncontroversial redirects. At the individual discretion of any administrator or after 24 hours and a consensus of at least 3 New Page Reviewers an editor may be added to a list of users whose redirects will be patrolled automatically by DannyS712 bot III.

Source Guide Discussion

Set to launch early in the new year is our first New Page Patrol Source Guide discussion. These discussions are designed to solicit input on sources in places and topic areas that might otherwise be harder for reviewers to evaluate. The hope is that this will allow us to improve the accuracy of our patrols for articles using these sources (and/or give us places to perform a WP:BEFORE prior to nominating for deletion). Please watch the New Page Patrol talk page for more information.

This month's refresher course

While New Page Reviewers are an experienced set of editors, we all benefit from an occasional review. This month consider refreshing yourself on Wikipedia:Notability (geographic features). Also consider how we can take the time for quality in this area. For instance, sources to verify human settlements, which are presumed notable, can often be found in seconds. This lets us avoid the (ugly) 'Needs more refs' tag.

A tag has been placed on Category:Events in Heeze-Leende requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Senseless edits or guidelines?

Basically, if you edit it in a certain way, there's still the problem of page overloading with information (and despite one can create all the subsections required to avoid this, the information won't be transferred there). Or you can let things as they stand and the page won't be updated for centuries. So, what should an user do in this situation? The page isn't updated, but in whatever way I try to do that, I'm wrong. It's a paradox. --151.53.233.102 (talk) 20:05, 28 December 2019 (UTC)

Hi IP user. We don't put in external links into the main parts of articles such as you did in the article. Yes, there are some size issues on the article for 2019 in sports, but fixing it by linking to a results site is not the way to fix this. I've already written at length on the talk as to my way to solve the issues on size, but I don't think they will be fixed in such a way. However, if we are to denote an event as requiring results - linking to another website to gain that information is a horrible idea. That is what inline citations are for. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 23:02, 28 December 2019 (UTC)
Ok, good. But {{External links-inline}} was deleted years ago in this sense. At this point, since those information need to be inserted, I ask you to show me what should be done, except distorting the actual layout (at least for 2019 in sports, because this work needs to be done anyway starting from 2020 in sports and further, given the aforementioned size issues). Ready to follow that path. --151.53.233.102 (talk) 00:45, 29 December 2019 (UTC)
If it's simply a space issue, add a brief summary, then add a {{efn}} or similar note next to it for the longer list of results. We shouldn't ever tell a user to go elsewhere for information. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 14:30, 30 December 2019 (UTC)
