Re: question

The {{nft}} template is intended to be "subst'ed". I merely "subst'ed" all the uses of it that I could find. – PeeJay 23:32, 30 June 2012 (UTC)

"Substing" = Writing {{subst:nft|Germany}} instead of {{nft|Germany}}. It makes the template completely transclude into the target page so that it shows up in the code as [[Germany national football team]]. – PeeJay 23:37, 30 June 2012 (UTC)

Proposition

Hi, I have some free time, so if You want, I can create this page: 2012 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship. Bacause this tournament will begin on July 12th. Thanks :) Arturkozlov (talk) 10:35, 1 July 2012 (UTC)

Ok :) So I will start working now ;) Arturkozlov (talk) 10:39, 1 July 2012 (UTC)

So I finished work in 2012 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship page. Probably without mistakes :) P.S. I didn't write the matches time in second round (Group E, F), because if host nation (Slovenia) will play in this round, so matches time may be change. Maybe you have another work for me :) ? Arturkozlov (talk) 12:46, 1 July 2012 (UTC)

Ok, I understood. I will find something to edit or create ;) Good luck. Arturkozlov (talk) 12:52, 1 July 2012 (UTC)

2012–13 MSV Duisburg season

The whole reason why I started to work on it was because your way wasn't the better way. The coaching staff shouldn't be the first section. Lines in the match templates should not be showing except for the first one in each subsection. Kingjeff (talk) 19:38, 9 July 2012 (UTC)

The manager is in the first template that's up at the very top. There should be a section that includes a a written review of the season. Your current squad template will be redundant when youput in the statistics table for the players. Kingjeff (talk) 19:42, 9 July 2012 (UTC)

How about good presentation. If the article is ever to be even a good article, forget even featured article, just being a good article, you're going to need a written review of the season. You mentioned Real Madrid's article, it has a written review already for what's happen up till a certain point. The Real Madrid season article looks disorganized and isn't user friendly because the players information is in 2 seperate sections. To show an example of eliminating redundancy for the player squad, go to the statistics table for the 2012-13 Austria Wien season. There you will see that you have the squad list, appearances and goals for each player all in 1 table. This is a good example of eliminating redundancies for players. Kingjeff (talk) 19:52, 9 July 2012 (UTC)

It's a good way to add statistics. But the point is that it can show squad and statistics all in one table. Instead of using the league table, use Main template and put the league season article as the main article. Kingjeff (talk) 20:00, 9 July 2012 (UTC)

I've put last season's Real Madrid season article up for peer review. I'm currently doing the same for last season's Bayern Munich season article and I'm planning to do the same for a few more club season articles. So maybe we see what others say about how season articles could be written. Kingjeff (talk) 23:43, 9 July 2012 (UTC)

You might be interested in Wikipedia:Peer review/2011–12 Real Madrid C.F. season/archive1 since you stated how you used it as an example. Kingjeff (talk) 17:19, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

Beaubois : not a NBA Champion

Hi. Please compare Ian Mahinmi's and Rodrigue Beaubois' profiles on basketball-reference.com : Mahinmi played at least 1 playoff game and is considered as a winner of that year's title (see Appearances on Leaderboards, Awards, and Honors section). On the other hand, there is no such mention on Beaubois' profile. --Koui² (talk) 10:40, 13 July 2012 (UTC)

2013 IIHF women's tournaments

Have you heard or read anywhere why Belgium and South Africa are not playing in the Div. II qualification. The way the tournament structure is for the bottom few nations disagrees with their rules, but the most recent document I can find only covers until the end of the 2012 season.18abruce (talk) 00:58, 16 July 2012 (UTC)

Women's National Basketball Teams

I have a question, why did you replace all the current rosters of the Olympic nations in women's basketball with the Olympic template? The reason I had created the generic template is that it allows for it to be updated. Instead of creating a new template for each and every tournament that particular country plays in, you can simply edit the templates I had placed on the pages. I noticed that on many of the pages, the rosters had not been updated in 4 years due to an Olympic template being on the page. Showing a roster for the Olympics is great during the Olympics, after the Olympic games are over, the national team continues playing and thus the roster changes. Would it not make more sense to leave the national team roster on the national team pages?

As an aside, I do take issue with your edit summary to the Basketball at the 2012 Summer Olympics – Women's team rosters page. You insinuate that I have no idea the how things are done on Wikipedia. However, the reason I had transcluded the templates was that I come from WP:Hockey and as a rule over there, we keep a single template per roster and then transclude the roster on the appropriate season or tournament page. That way you avoid having multiple templates created that appear on only two pages and allows for the ease of editing as I mentioned above. Shootmaster 44 (talk) 19:45, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

Titles of Olympic football squad templates

Hi, just to let you know the ones you've recently created are improperly titled; they're presently overcapitalised and should reflect the header of the template itself but without the en dash, meaning, for example, "Template:Brazil Women Football Squad 2012 Summer Olympics" should be "Template:Brazil women's squad 2012 Summer Olympics". This layout is endorsed by consensus established at WP:FOOTY, and the discussion where this was reached is located here. Cheers, Mattythewhite (talk) 11:07, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

Well bro, go check out the Mavericks roster. Crowder has number 32. DaHuzyBru (talk) 13:15, 25 July 2012 (UTC)

Table tennis at the 2012 Summer Olympics

Hi, I noticed you have edited the draw instantly. That's fantastic ! I'm here to discuss the templates used on the pages. I created a template for the first four rounds, a modification used in 2008. I don't know if you agree to use the template or have other opinions. Thanks for your time.--MediocreVisitor (talk) 14:51, 25 July 2012 (UTC)

I know and saw it but i think it just looks better when it's splitted a bit more. 4 sections + finals instead of just prelim. and then a "big" bracket. Easier to navigate i say. Kante4 (talk) 14:54, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
I see. I won't change the format then.--MediocreVisitor (talk) 15:06, 25 July 2012 (UTC)

Olympics

Forgive me, but I just wanted to do some work. I hope things are still well between us? About the personal attack, when you added the three exclamation marks, it sounded like you were shouting at me, please do not do it again. You need to calm down a bit, as it's only a line-up. You can always be bold and correct it yourself, instead of just coming here and complain on my talk page. Arbero (talk) 13:07, 26 July 2012 (UTC)

Alright then, will this be the final decision or are we going to continue to change it? Other users may disagree, so perhaps you could tell them as well? Arbero (talk) 11:37, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
Main article for me, as I would have to start an discussion at each of the template available. Are you ok with that? Arbero (talk) 11:42, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
Both of course. Do you want me to start both the discussions? I'm doing the men's now. Arbero (talk) 11:50, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
I have added both of them now. Here is the men's and here is the women's. I had to correct some information on the men's, since you only added the references for the attendances on the women's tournament. Anyway, are you satisfied? Arbero (talk) 12:02, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
Good to know that. Will you notify other users later? Arbero (talk) 12:04, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
Sure, perhaps User:Lihaas, and other users who were involved. Arbero (talk) 12:07, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
If you have time now, can you do it? Arbero (talk) 12:16, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

Hello. The scoring by quarter does not add up to the points sum at Template:2012 Summer Olympics women's basketball game A1. Can you check the result? Thanks HandsomeFella (talk) 10:13, 28 July 2012 (UTC)

Hello again. Same thing with Template:2012 Summer Olympics women's basketball game A2. HandsomeFella (talk) 15:10, 28 July 2012 (UTC)
Sorry, whatever so i will choose the report from sporting federation website rather than Olympics website because look at this website, few years after the Games, it started to blank out, and report become a dead link. Second, discipline will not change the final score, is not significant to report. --Aleenf1 14:48, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
Just do not add it, it cannot be blank from templates because some other article use it. Keep until i fix it. Thanks. --Aleenf1 14:56, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
I'm doing my best, believe me, but the London 2012 website is lagging for me and is often behind, so the stats tend to change, and I'll have to change it. Arbero (talk) 22:56, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
Hmm, I will keep that in mind. By the way, where did you get 5 rebounds from? Both Manuel and Mauricio have a total of six rebounds, which one are you counting, defensive or offensive? Arbero (talk) 23:01, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
Aren't you going to use the FIBA report then? Or should I change it to six? Arbero (talk) 23:05, 30 July 2012 (UTC)

Hockey

Hi, actually fhg gives you the mouse-over tooltip but not the fhgoal. let me know if thats not right?! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ramapillai (talkcontribs) 15:59, 30 July 2012 (UTC)

I don't understand. fhg seems right to me as it gives you proper mouse-over tool tip and the best template you can look at is the World cup final one (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=2010_Men%27s_Hockey_World_Cup&action=submit) And fhg looks better than fhgoal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Fhg) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Fhgoal) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ramapillai (talkcontribs) 16:07, 30 July 2012 (UTC)

Olympic volleyball pool scoring

Hey, Kante4, I've been looking at the volleyball pools and I don't understand how team scoring works. It looks like you've done a bunch of updates on these pages. In the women's tournament, now after four matches Algeria has zero wins and 1 point in Pool A, while Serbia has zero wins and zero points in Pool B. Both have won two sets. Also in Pool B, four teams have two wins and two losses, but they have 7, 7, 6 and 4 points. Can you explain (and reference) this? Is it the same for beach volleyball too? And what are the tiebreakers to advance to the next round? Thanks, Strafpeloton2 (talk) 16:38, 4 August 2012 (UTC)

volleyball q.

if brazil win, even in a 5th set, theyre through right?Lihaas (talk) 20:45, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

Ah! i thought its performance against them. Seems confusing per above threatd too ;)Lihaas (talk) 21:02, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
Most of them seem like across the board copy+pastes without sources so wasnt sure. For example in fencing i had to change that bit (though only did for 1 event). Theres awful lot of inconsistency across pages. perhaps when its done we could go and clean and organise it up. Up for it?Lihaas (talk) 21:07, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
Im hitting the sack after the ger-bra game, but just a heads up if your cleaning up the chronology page needs some sources for the 4th and and an update for today, See you tomorrow ;)Lihaas (talk) 22:34, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
Chronological summary of the 2012 Summer Olympics. You dont use it? I add the medals there when im watching something, but i tried doing the prose and it was too time consumnig wfor sources et alLihaas (talk) 22:38, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
What a load of crap? The game i was most looking forward to in the whole turnament and the 2nd half went awry. Im inclined to suggest some sort of women's badminton hocus-pocus. Did they want to play Brazil? Seems like the USA-ARG match will recur in the semis(Lihaas (talk) 23:25, 6 August 2012 (UTC)).

The team tournaments and primaryily Olympic events, so we need consistency across discplines. Also on another page (forget which now) a comproimse was made to add both with the second removing redundant data and only presenting the medals in th einfobox.Lihaas (talk) 19:35, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
I removed the redundant data, just the medals for quick overview as in the other disciplines. Should be better?Lihaas (talk) 19:39, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

Modern pentathlon

The comined timings are from the ref provided. Im just finishing it up. Got to 9th place so far..Lihaas (talk) 17:44, 12 August 2012 (UTC)

(edit conflict) (on a talk page too) I edit conflicted as were both working on it. I havent revertedyet, but if you wanna finish ill revertmine and give you he go ahead.
Fo r timings, london 2012 says "official" which i tend to go towards as we used their reports across the olymoics. Also the timing there shows the winner of the event (the other timing shows total time) and the 2nd place in that event. We then add total points for the whole thing. This makes more sense as the points for the vevent correspond to how they ddi per the leader in the event and not ovrall.Lihaas (talk) 17:51, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
Still not done? You want to do that?Lihaas (talk) 18:02, 12 August 2012 (UTC)

Field hockey

No full goalscorers? Adding only top is inadequate. --Aleenf1 14:17, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

Look Football at the 2012 Summer Olympics – Men's tournament, every scorers are listed, i don't want to be bias, but statistics should be full and not partially, or just none. --Aleenf1 22:34, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
They may have done in the past, but in the field hockey, is never do it, neither goalscorers nor final ranking. Most time, each article have its own guideline, and it cannot be compare. --Aleenf1 11:59, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
I just want consistency rather than approaching different thing each time. --Aleenf1 14:02, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
No, i mean about the general rather than just for Olympics, now it is two parted guidelines, sorry i don't want to discuss because i can see it is no conclusion. keep your good works. --Aleenf1 14:13, 14 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi, I'm working on this page 2012 FIBA Europe Under-18 Championship, but someone with this IP: 108.82.99.158, also "trying to work", but unfortunately - unsuccessfully. Australian field hockey players

Hi. Sorry to take so long to respond. I was away and then did not remember the message. The Australia men's field hockey articles were created/updated several months prior to the start of the Olympics, back when the official team squad had yet to be named and I was not comfortable putting the template in for official team when the line up had not been announced yet. (Which turned out I believe to be correct as I think one of the members of the secondary squad was actually named to the Olympic team.) I don't think I have edited any of them really since then and I don't think I am likely to. (I don't have pictures and then men aren't on my GA list.) In any case, since then I have been better at adding team templates. --LauraHale (talk) 20:29, 15 August 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, I came to realise how much simpler this made things at a later date. Whoops. I have some lack of confidence at making templates at times, though I have gotten much much better at it. :) The field hockey articles were all taken to DYK I think. I worked on them with the idea of getting pictures when they were playing a test series locally but something came up and I was unable to go. : / The articles need a fair amount of work but are better than a fair number of similar articles. They aren't one line stubs that some medalist get. :( --LauraHale (talk) 20:40, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
Worth doing. I worked on a fair amount of that in advance of the Games. I believe every Australian female competitor (may have missed two discovered after Games started) at the Olympics had an article including the women's field hockey team. It takes a lot of work. And yeah, getting that many done is a huge challenge. :( On the other hand, once you find a source, it can often be used multiple times to add facts to an article. I think I found that handy for what I did, which is one of the reasons things are prone to overciting on my end as I just source as I find facts to get up to a certain length. If you ever take any of those articles you are working on to DYK or GA, let me know and if I have the time, I can try to review. --LauraHale (talk) 21:08, 15 August 2012 (UTC)

Assistance

Greetings. I need your help if you can spare the time. I'm creating tables that you will find here. There are two issues needing your expertise. Firstly, I want the tables to run left to right (not top to bottom as present), by four boxes across; Then returning underneath to the left again (and so on). Also, can you make the boxes collapsable?, if that's possible. I hope I have explained myself sufficiently (re-engineering is not my strong point). Thanks, Spy007au (talk) 23:29, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

Excellent, that's great. And yes, the col template. Spy007au (talk) 00:23, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

Track athletes

FYI... When you describe a track and field athlete, don't use plain "athlete", such as in Aleksey Dremin. Athlete can refer to any person playing any sport. This confuses people, especially in the U.S. Use sprinter, runner, middle distance runner, long-distance runner. Bgwhite (talk) 23:00, 26 August 2012 (UTC)
