External links at Dennis Aogo

Hi. Isn't the number of "external links" at Dennis Aogo a bit excessive? Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 08:38, 24 August 2020 (UTC)

Okay, thanks for the reply. I went with the UEFA and Worldfootball.net profiles.
I wonder if using the {{Sports links}} template in "external links" is a good idea at all. If the template pulls all profiles from Wikidata the amount of links might not be excessive when we first add the template but as more profiles are linked in Wikidata that might happen over time without us noticing? Robby.is.on (talk) 11:46, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
Okay. :-) Happy editing and bis demnächst, Robby.is.on (talk) 15:13, 24 August 2020 (UTC)

Hi, I noticed that now Madrid's 2020–21 season article states that all league matches up until May 2021 will played at Di Stefano. Is there any source to back up this information? Sergio Ramos

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sergio_Ramos#Career_statistics

statistics in club are wrong. If you write 50 matchs with sevilla you can't write 731 matchs in career total because this total count the sevilla b matchs. I explain: 26 matchs for sevilla b, 50 matchs with sevilla fc and 655 matchs with real madrid. If you want to write right stats, you should write 731-26 --) 705 matchs in club total

no problem, i didn't see that the 26 matchs with sevilla b were played in segunda division, which is professional division

EuroBasket 2022 qualifiers

Hi. Can you please mark that Slovenia has already qualified? Here EuroBasket 2022 qualification#Group_F_2 and here EuroBasket 2022 qualification#Qualified teams. Slovenia has two games left and can't finish with less than 9 pts. Austria can't get more than 9 pts even if they win all three remaining games. Since Slovenia-Austria is 2-0 head-to-head, Slovenia has already qualified. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by NoWikiNoLife (talkcontribs) 21:20, 29 November 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for the quick action. I would've been happy to do this myself, but how do I get access to a protected table like

Pos Team Pld W L PF PA PD Pts Qualification
1  Ukraine 6 4 2 458 414 +44 10[a] EuroBasket 2022
2  Slovenia 6 4 2 470 434 +36 10[a]
3  Hungary 6 4 2 438 455 −17 10[a]
4  Austria 6 0 6 421 484 −63 6
Source: FIBA
Rules for classification: 1) Points; 2) Head-to-head; 3) Points difference; 4) Points scored.
Notes:
  1. ^ a b c Ukraine 6 Pts, +26 PD; Slovenia 6 Pts, +16 PD; Hungary 6 Pts, −42 PD

?

Ah! Got it! Thanks for that! — Preceding unsigned comment added by NoWikiNoLife (talkcontribs) 21:38, 29 November 2020 (UTC)

Hello Kante4, in case you don't have the article in the headline on your watchlist: I think I fixed some discrepancies in the table. It should be in agreement with the references now. Maybe you want to have a look at it.

Russia v Spain

Hi, what to with the attendance at the match Russia v Spain? The report says 500, but it seems unlikely to me that at this match there were spectators where none at any of the other matches. If I look back at the video of the match, I can't see those 500. Seems better to me, to remove the 500. --Sb008 (talk) 20:36, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

  • @Sb008: I fixed the "Ahmed", "Ayoub" and "Reida" one per IHF roster source. For the others i would include the whole surname. Kante4 (talk) 12:46, 22 January 2021 (UTC)
Ahmed still occurs with 2 different first names and Reida occurs by both different name orders on the match reports (FTR, MTR, OMR). If I watch back the video against Austria, on his shirt it says R. Rezzouki. --Sb008 (talk) 13:39, 22 January 2021 (UTC)

The results, but 1, of the Cape Verde matches are results according to the rulebook and not as a result of matches played. Therefore they not part of the total number of matches and goals scored. The matches were not played and not a single goal was scored. --Sb008 (talk) 10:28, 23 January 2021 (UTC)

@Sb008: Ah ok, i thought that those matches count as they is a 10–0 scoreline. Kante4 (talk) 10:31, 23 January 2021 (UTC)
Update on the situation of Cape Verde: "n case the team of Cape Verde will not meet the provisions mentioned in the regulations, the match between Cape Verde and Germany on 17 January 2021 will be cancelled, with Germany automatically winning the match 10:0, claiming two points as per Article F 7. d of the Egypt 2021 COVID-19-Related Regulations." --Sb008 (talk) 10:48, 23 January 2021 (UTC)
@Sb008: Yeah, that i think/thought winning 10:0 would count as it also counts into the standings. Kante4 (talk) 11:08, 23 January 2021 (UTC)
Sure it counts in the standing because it are (reglementory) results. But the matches are not played and the goals are not scored. --Sb008 (talk) 11:23, 23 January 2021 (UTC)

Second opinion

Hey, I was hoping for a second opinion regarding 2022 World Cup qualifying. In Group A, Qatar are paired with the team not playing each matchday. A user had added the "centralised friendlies" to the page here, as this was previously done for the UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying Group I (see here) and was originally planned for 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification – UEFA Group H until Gibraltar were added (see here). Do you think the friendlies are worth including? I had removed the matches as they did not seem relevant given it's not part of World Cup qualifying, but I'm not entirely sure. S.A. Julio (talk) 12:15, 7 February 2021 (UTC)

@S.A. Julio: I first saw no harm in including them. But looking at the FIFA and UEFA site, they both have them not listed. So, i would go with excluding them. Kante4 (talk) 12:19, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
Alright, thanks. Though the match schedule is acutally included on UEFA's site, and I imagine next month they will be added to the "friendly matches" tab under "fixtures & results". S.A. Julio (talk) 12:26, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
@S.A. Julio: Interesting. I just looked at the source under the group table. Mixed feelings, but a mention would be enough in the prose for me. Might want to gain more opinions. Kante4 (talk) 12:31, 7 February 2021 (UTC)

Womens Eurobasket 2021

Hi, Why did you undo my added sentence about the date of the draw? Kecman (talk) 23:47, 19 February 2021 (UTC)

Zinedine Zidane

What's wrong in being recognised as 38th best coach of all time by an esteemed autonomous football federation???

My inclusion is consistent with all the previous inclusions in the same section:

- FourFourTwo's 36th Greatest Manager of All Time: 2020[301] - France Football 22nd Greatest Manager of All Time: 2019[296][297] - Sports illustrated 34th Greatest Manager of All Time: 2019[298] — Preceding unsigned comment added by Abrar188 (talkcontribs) 10:50, 15 March 2021 (UTC)

@Abrar188: And i disagree with them being included as being 38th or 24th of something does not feel like it's worth including. Kante4 (talk) 10:51, 15 March 2021 (UTC)

All the biggest managers such as Mourinho, Ancelotti, Guardiola feature such rankings where in they are placed 12th, 18th, etc.. Any form of recognition from any renowned body should be appreciated. Also, I'm waiting for UEFA's official all-time coaching take on Zidane's tenure as manager.Abrar188 (talk) 10:59, 15 March 2021 (UTC)

@Abrar188: Yeah, like i said i disagree but if others have them listed (if other editors added them) then it's nothing i can do. Kante4 (talk) 11:00, 15 March 2021 (UTC)

Hi, the phase 2 section mentions that all times are local times. However the times mentioned aren't all local times (9 mismatches). Neither are all CE(S)T times (as used by the EHF) (34 mismatches). Which times are it supposed to be? And if it's local, is the TZ supposed to be mentioned? --Sb008 (talk) 13:52, 24 March 2021 (UTC)

And if it's local, in which order do we list matches? E.g. group 5, 6 Januari, based on local times TUR v POL was played at 19:00h and NED v SVN at 18:15h, based on CET it's 17:00 and 18:15. So TUR v POL was played before NED v SVN. This the order the games are listed now with local times. But to see 19:00 before 18:15 seems unlogical. Not many people will know that 19:00 FET/MST/TRT is earlier than 18:15 CET, especially if the TZ is not listed. --Sb008 (talk) 14:31, 24 March 2021 (UTC)
@Sb008: I would go with the times listed in match reports. Kante4 (talk) 15:28, 24 March 2021 (UTC)
Times in the match report are all CE(S)T.
This is part of the JSOF record for TUR v POL:
"date": {
  "utc": "2021-01-06T16:00:00Z",
  "local": "2021-01-06T19:00:00Z",
  "cet": "2021-01-06T17:00:00",
  "timeZoneName": "CET",
  "formattedTime": "17:00",
  "hasTime": true,
  "hasDate": true,
  "formattedDate": "06.01.2021",
  "formattedDateFull": "Wed Jan 06, 2021",
  "formattedTournamentDate": "06/01"
}
local time 19:00, cet time: 17:00. Timezone is set to CET and formatted time to 17:00, used in match report. --Sb008 (talk) 15:47, 24 March 2021 (UTC)
@Sb008: Then the statement about the times needs to be changed to have all the same format. Kante4 (talk) 15:51, 24 March 2021 (UTC)
I stated it wrong, EHF uses CE(S)T on their site: [1], but local in the report [2] --Sb008 (talk) 15:57, 24 March 2021 (UTC)
I see 2 options:
  • |time=19:00 (17:00 CET) and leave the statement "all times are local times" as is
  • |time=17:00 and change the statement to "all times coverted to CE(S)T"
--Sb008 (talk) 16:24, 24 March 2021 (UTC)
@Sb008: I would change the statement into CET/CEST, with something like "times up to ...March are CET, all other times are CEST". Kante4 (talk) 18:45, 24 March 2021 (UTC)
