Hi Kanags! I see you have moved the page Lasantha Wickramatunga to Lasantha Wickramatunge. However, all the sources provided refer to him as "Lasantha Wickramatunga". Also, there are more google hits for "Lasantha Wickramatunga" than "Lasantha Wickramatunge". Sites like BBC, Reuters and the Hindu and also his own newspaper the Sunday Leader has referred to him as "Lasantha Wickramatunga". Can you prove that "Lasantha Wickramatunge" is the correct spelling of the name? Unless you can, I think the page should be "Lasantha Wickramatunga". Cheers. Seems to be OK then. I'm fine with that. Chamal talk 12:03, 12 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mr.Kanags the quote which you have deleted is relavent to that article. The quote which was present there was tirukural. That quote was mentioning about the agriculturist in ancient tamilnadu. And the article is about Mallar who were the agriculturist of ancient tamilnadu. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tamil1988 (talkcontribs) 05:45, 18 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, and welcome to the WikiProject Tamil Eelam! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of Tamil Eelam related topics.

A few features that you might find helpful:

There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:

  • Interested in working on a more complete article? The peer review department of the project would welcome your help!
  • Interested in a particular area of Tamil Eelam history, geography, culture etc.? There is already one task force, and you could initiate the creation of more focusing on specific topics or periods.
  • Want to know how good our articles are? The assessment department is working on rating the quality of every military history article in Wikipedia.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to any experienced member of the project, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around!

interwiki links now populated by wikidata[edit]

Hi! I've noticed you adding some interwiki links to articles both in the English and Tamil Wikipedias. Thanks! However, you should know that we are now migrating such links into WP:Wikidata. Some of the links you added were already in place using Wikidata rather than old-style interwiki links, although in some cases they wouldn't have been visible until the page had been purged. So you may see some of my edits that look as if I'm removing your links to the Tamil encyclopedia, however, if you look on the left links baar for those articles, you'll see that the links to the Tamil Wikipedia should still be in place. Please let me know if I can explain further. Thanks again for helping build out the connection between the English and Tamil wikipedias! --j⚛e deckertalk 23:50, 25 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your e-mail. Wikipedia articles are named according to their common name, not official name. If you can demonstrate on the article's talk page that the common name is C. V. Wigneswaran I will happily re-name the article.--obi2canibetalk contr 13:04, 11 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for August 17[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Hugh Cleghorn (colonial administrator), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page The Island (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Sydney September 2013 edit-a-thon invite[edit]

Hi there! You are cordially invited to an edit-a-thon this Saturday (21 September) in Sydney at the State Library of New South Wales (SLNSW), where you can collaborate with other Wikipedians throughout the day. Andy Carr, a senior librarian at SLNSW will also be helping out. The theme of the edit-a-thon is paralympics sports, but you are free to come along to meet other wiki contributors, and edit other topics.

If you are unable to attend in person, we will also be collaborating online. Details and an attendee list are at Wikipedia:Meetup/Sydney/September 2013. Hope you can make it! John Vandenberg 09:23, 19 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation[edit]

There is a backstage pass coming up to be followed by an editathon in the State Library of New South Wales on 23 November. This is the first time that an Australian cultural institution has opened its doors to us in this way and will be a special opportunity because the Library is providing: one of its best rooms; its expert curators (along with their expertise and their white gloves); a newly launched website (containing new resources); and of course, items from its collection (including rare and usually unavailable material) which we can look at, learn from, and use, to improve WP articles. For example, on the chosen topic (Australia and WWI), the Library holds many diaries and manuscripts from the period.

As you can see from the Library's project page, they have connected this editathon with their own work. They have already set out a wide range of resources to make things easier for us. Please sign up on the editathon project page if you can participate either online or in person with other Wikipedians. Hope to see you there! Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. On Thangarajah[edit]

Dear Kanags

Thangarajah deserves a separate and independent entry in Wikipedia. Perhaps you may be best positioned to author that. I am uncomfortable when information is provided of who married who in those Wikipedia entries on Sri Lankan Tamil historical figures. The entry should be on the person concerned, her or his political/intellectual contributions, and only then perhaps information on immediate next of kin, if at all. I see this tendency towards providing extended family information as somewhat irrelevant.

Once again, I have huge respect for all your initiatives - like Wikipedia in Tamil which I read regularly. Please do not take this personally.

I am of the opinion that above page should not be redirected to Indian Singaporeans.

There are similar pages like Tamil Canadians, Tamil Americans and Tamil Malaysians,

I am of the opinion Singapore Tamils should be redirected to Tamil Singaporeans.

I need your opinion on the talk page of the above articles.Shankar2001 (talk) 16:39, 5 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam[edit]

Dear Kanags, i have posted LTTE as non-criminal organisation. And its main aim is to establish Tamil Eelam. Their struggle is not criminal but to safeguard the people of eelam. All these are based on the verdict by Swiss SC [1] Then why did you reverted and says LTTE as a criminal & Millitant organisation. It seems to disgrace their stuggle for their HomeLand? Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bothumanized (talkcontribs) 07:25, 17 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Bothumanized: I didn't say it is a criminal organisation. LTTE is a militant organisation. That's how it was defined. Your quoatation says //"Swiss court rules LTTE not a criminal organisation". judges found there was not enough proof to consider the LTTE a criminal group under the Swiss penal code.// that doesn't mean that LTTE's definition is a non-criminal organisation.--Kanags (talk) 07:42, 17 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
