Hi Jeroje! Appying userboxes is simple, just visit Wikipedia:Userboxes. You need to copy and past those templates on your user page.
And thanks for editing Halla and Shundi. I guess the western India context for these kingdoms is still mentioned in List of fictional countries. Happy editing!--Victor D PARLE 17:30, 8 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

About Bengali Wikipedia[edit]

In my opinion, the Bengali Wikipedia lacks of articles about India, West Bengal and Hinduism. I think that you would be a great help. Please see this articles to enable Bengali on your computer: bn:উইকিপেডিয়া:Bangla script display and input help. Thank you. --Wolftalk 16:29, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Then, I believe that this article may be of help. --Wolftalk 14:37, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Dinabandhu Mitra.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Dinabandhu Mitra.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 13:06, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

Resolved issue[edit]

Hi,

I consulted a few other wikipedians and realized that your objection was justified in the article on Orissa's cuisine. It was my (honest) mistake. You can keep the sentence as is, or you can reinsert the phrase "Bengal renaissance". I leave it up to you to decide.

I left a note in the talk pages also.

Also, sorry about this little misunderstanding.

Thanks,

SDas 19:55, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ji Jeroje,

Thanks for your reply. As per your suggestion, I reverted the article on Orissan cuisine to your version, and I concede that it is appropriate. :)

I look forward to working with you in future. I will include Pithe (we call it Pitha) in the list of Oriya dishes also if it is OK with you. I will write an article on fish curry (machher jhol/machha jhola) also, which is perhaps the best known dish in Bengal, Orissa, and Assam (although between you and me - Bengalis and Oriyas do a much better job than our Assamese friends do ;) )

Later on, I may (time permitting) write some articles on eastern India's Buddhist heritage.

Best wishes.

SDas 13:35, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's a good start for sure. But I'm afraid that article will still have to remain on my "Wiki Failures" list, because the "Plot" section is plagiarized from SatyajitRay.org! --Kuaichik 02:37, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hae'n, nishchoy. Aekhon amar shomoy ney, tobe ami dikhbo. (Translation in case my Bangla is bad: Yes, certainly. I don't have time now, but I'll see (it later).) --Kuaichik 05:13, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just wondering if you could add a source to that recent India add. It would be very helpful. Thanks. Wrad 22:07, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Poverty in India Image[edit]

Beggar in Bodhgaya

There is a discussion going on regarding whether or not the following image should be a part of the Poverty in India page. Most Poverty in *Country* pages do not have any images, at most 1. User:Otolemur crassicaudatus has brought many images showing extreme poverty in India and has tried to mislead people into thinking this is the way a majority of poor Indians live. There is a vote in which your input would be appreciated. You can find this discussion here

I feel that the the Bodhgaya Beggar image does not represent poverty in India correctly because:

  • The beggar in Bodhgaya image does not accurately depict poor people in India because they do not look like this. This man is an exception. To say that this man represents all poor people in India is very wrong. A small minority of Indias poor are disabled. Most living under the poverty line work long hours fishing, farming or as construction workers. This picture shows a man whose legs have been broken. Unless a majority of India's or even a fraction of the poor have legs like this, the image is irrelevant and undue to the poverty in india page.
  • Poverty and Disability are not connected in any way. There are thousands of super rich people who are disabled.
  • There are 11 country articles on poverty
  • This user is being uncivil and unyielding. This user has tried to have my user page deleted because it said America is priceless!
  • This image is being used by User:Otolemur crassicaudatus to display his dislike of India and to mislead people into thinking that this is the plight of millions of poor Indians. This user has often added images showing extreme poverty to many India relating articles.[1] Even though this user knows that poverty is present in every country and that extreme poverty is not a fair representation of the Indian economy, this user has previously tried to add an image of children washing their clothes in a mud puddle to the economy section of the India page. This user has added this image to the poverty section of the Economy of India page, when a graph showing poverty would make more sense.
  • WP:Undue says:
We should not attempt to represent a dispute as if a view held by a small minority deserved as much attention as a majority view. Views that are held by a tiny minority should not be represented except in articles devoted to those views. To give undue weight to a significant-minority view, or to include a tiny-minority view, might be misleading as to the shape of the dispute.

This can be applied to this because a very tiny fraction of poor people in India are disabled. Most work very hard trying to make a living for themselves. This image is misleading. Nikkul (talk) 03:10, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I moved all NPOV stuff into Howrah from this article. Also, all the sections here are not towns of Howrah, but most are areas in Howrah or Bally, Howrah or someplace in Howrah District. Nowadays, people are adding personal info (last line in Amta) or own institution's advertisement etc. I suggest that this article should be speedily removed. Do you agree with this? BTW, you can check my talk page for a cool link on Bangla font (suggested by Ragib): it works great on XP. Regards, GDibyendu (talk) 10:51, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image File:Bitumen_cannisters_chakdaha.jpg in rotation[edit]

The image file at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Bitumen_cannisters_chakdaha.jpg is in rotation (on its side), and therefore does not make sense when referenced in article Bitumen. I cannot edit this .php image. Can you (or someone else) please rotate this image in your camera or photo editor? SalineBrain (talk) 21:27, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, now it is vertical. However, the beautiful detail of the photo is missing. We can do this again if that will help.Fconaway (talk) 22:19, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
