Urgent[edit]
Hi, I'm an admin in the Indonesian Wikipedia. Vrsanelamat (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) has committed long term abuse in Indonesian, Malay and Sundanese wikipedia (one of the examples, when he impersonated me and vandalized several pages). Right now he is engaging in disruptive activities in the English wiki by reverting many edits and also by creating pages with false information and sending nonsensical messages to other users. Please block him, revert all of his edits, and delete pages created by him. I've complained here before, but somehow my request is gone and he is still running rampant in this Wiki. Thank you. Administrator account security (Correction to Arbcom 2019 special circular)[edit]
ArbCom would like to apologise and correct our previous mass message in light of the response from the community.
Since November 2018, six administrator accounts have been compromised and temporarily desysopped. In an effort to help improve account security, our intention was to remind administrators of existing policies on account security — that they are required to "have strong passwords and follow appropriate personal security practices." We have updated our procedures to ensure that we enforce these policies more strictly in the future. The policies themselves have not changed. In particular, two-factor authentication remains an optional means of adding extra security to your account. The choice not to enable 2FA will not be considered when deciding to restore sysop privileges to administrator accounts that were compromised.
We are sorry for the wording of our previous message, which did not accurately convey this, and deeply regret the tone in which it was delivered.

Hi, regarding this, are you aware that the DRV for the Phelps article is going to close with "endorse delete" and that the new draft, created when Fram moved Rama's article out of mainspace, is also being deemed not notable. Add to that Rama's own statement about digging their heels in means there is no way an amicable solution would have developed: Rama wasn't going to back down and the community wasn't going to accept the article being restored.
It's fine if you want to leave the evidence in there but it will be torn to shreds during the workshop phase. - Sitush (talk) 16:22, 8 May 2019 (UTC)
- @Sitush: Thanks for your comment. I'm unsure which aspect of the Rama arbitration case you're referring to with your "this", since the diff links to my second and third points of evidence but your comment seems to relate to my first point of evidence.
- Thank you for letting me know the outcome of the latest DRV. I'm afraid you've mistaken the purpose of my first point of evidence. I do not seek to justify the inclusion of the article, which falls beyond ArbCom's remit. Rather, my point is that, given the state of affairs as of the start of 29th April, Rama's initial restoration of the article was not a gross transgression of administrator conduct. The latest DRV began on 1st May, after the arbitration request was filed. It would be wrong to assess an admin action against information that the admin would not have had when they took the action.
- Regarding your point about an amicable resolution, I'm afraid you've misinterpreted "resolution" as "agreement". Rama did not attempt to restore the article again, but simply continued to argue his case on ANI. If the ANI case was allowed to play out, it would be plausible for it to end, perhaps with a warning for Rama, and then defer the deleted article's fate to DRV. I have argued against the prevalent consensus and "lost" many times over the past decade, but I can count very few where I would not call the outcome an amicable resolution.
- I'm unsure what you mean when you wrote that the evidence would be "torn to shreds during the workshop phase". I am well aware that I am in the minority for arguing that Rama's initial page restoration was within the allowable range of admin discretion, and that the timing of this arbitration case was counter-productive. The duty of editors participating in the evidence phase is to present their point where it is backed up by logs and comments by other editors. Arbitrators are welcome to ignore my point if they examine it and decide to disagree with it.

I also note that your username is the same as the abbreviation of the association you want to write about, which suggests that you may be acting on behalf of the association. urgent help needed with my Wiki page - query[edit]

I need help with my Wikipedia page:

I myself did not create the article. In 2010 or so, a librarian in a West Virginia public school did. She is deceased. Since, editors of journals having published my short stories and a former literary agent added to the page.
Recently, I made changes to the page, specifically uploading two photos of my book covers. But I did not follow protocol. Tags at the top of the page appeared, one after another, each worse.
I myself have not touched the actual article since this incident started six weeks ago, but have instead remained markedly earnest and cooperative and forthcoming on the User Talk page.
On my USER TALK, page you will see extensive dialogue between me and who seems to be only Wiki editor involved "Bonadea." She's well-informed and reasonable.
A few weeks back, she redrafted the page to sound encyclopedic, but she removed too much, I think. I had thought at the time, she was ready to remove the tags. Not so. She still feels the page is "autobiographical," even though I have dug up many links to reliable sources for her. Today, she's less and less available to help, as she is a teacher with a heavy class load.
I so much want the page to exist at its best. It would make me very proud, and I honestly feel who I am as a writer and what accomplishments I have made are of note.
But the paragraphs about my article become scant as the descend, and the entire page is lacking my most important accomplishments.
Again, I have available all links to the entirety of my USER TALK page.
My first novel won The Paterson Prize for Books for Young People 2009 (Grade 7-12), with a link to a reliable source. This a great award. But it is not listed.
I want acknowledgement of my receiving an Honorable Mention in The Best American Short Stories 2007, again a great accomplishment, with a link available.
I want acknowledgement being nominated for The Pushcart Prize - a fabulous achievement not listed.
I want all my 75 plus published short stories listed, not just a handful as shown on my page. All stories are reputably published is good university journals and commercial magazines. I want them presented in columns and set off my the lines of a box around them, as I seen on many sites.
I'v spent thirty years of my life - every day devoted - to becoming a writer of accomplishment. I sacrificed income and the great life experience of having a family I could support.
A few questions:
How quickly can you get to work on the Wiki page?
Do other editors get involved with you?
Will you willingly communicate with me here on your email page, rather on the USER TALK for all the world to see. I think "Bonadea" would prefer not seeing my comments, as I am the subject of the article, and would prefer working only with a professional Wiki editor.

Hoping you'll revisit this close. As pointed out in the discussion, the redirect clearly aided searches and directed readers to information they were looking for, and there has never been consensus that titles implying user instruction must be deleted (generally only if the target actually is an instruction manual), nor that this specific redirect was such a title. Three editors suggested valid use cases for the title, versus four who only cited WP:NOTHOWTO, but did not indicate in what way that guideline applies to the redirect deletion guidelines. Thanks. - @Ivanvector: Thanks for raising this. I get your point that WP:NOTHOWTO is strictly speaking an article content policy and its application to redirects isn't clear. But with a majority offering this as a reason for deletion and only Andrew D. supporting the pre-existing target, the closer would need an overriding concern to reject a majority opinion, and I don't think wider policy necessarily precludes NOTHOWTO from being used to argue for deletion here. That said, we're all aware that the quorum of RfDs is low, so if you can convince any two participants of this RfD to change their minds (or more regulars at RfD to support your suggestion), I'd be happy to reopen the discussion. A simple infobox template for SS[edit]

- Bobbyshabangu, There are two approaches I'm aware of.
- The low-hanging fruit is to specify a group of related topics (e.g. films) and then look out for what properties are relevant for those topics. Then build an infobox along the lines of yue:Template:Infobox person/Wikidata (biographies of people).
- More complicated is to localize a universal infobox like c:Template:Wikidata infobox. User:RexxS has more relevant expertise on that if you want to build a universal infobox. Deryck C. 14:40, 27 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Bobbyshabangu: You already have made a good start with ss:Template:Umuntfu and ss:Template:Umuntfu/ss as used on ss:Nelson Mandela.
- The universal infobox at c:Template:Wikidata infobox could be useful for creating articles in ss-wiki, but it draws all of its information from Wikidata. There are hardly any labels in SiSwati for properties, etc. so someone would need to add them, otherwise you will only see the English labels – you'll find the gadget "labelLister" at your Wikidata preferences to be useful. I've made demos for Frene Ginwala (Q5502776) and Nelson Mandela (Q8023) at commons:User:RexxS/Demos so you can see what is possible by using SiSwati as your interface language on Commons. I added the ss label "Kutalwa" to date of birth (P569) as you can see in the demos. Please correct that on Wikidata date of birth (P569) if it's not right. Almost hate to bother you about this close since it feels so low stakes, but the outcome was surprising to me, since only the nominator suggested retargeting to the French film, along with "or delete". Thryduulf and I advocated retargeting to the disambiguation page rather than the French film, and the other editor who commented suggested the Soviet film was also released in 1934. Relist for Toxic gases[edit]

Regarding your relist for the toxic gases redirect, at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2020 February 19#Toxic gases, I'm not even sure a relist was necessary here for two reasons, chiefly:
- As closer, deciding on the target where consensus is clearly in favour of retargeting is, as I read but can't remember where off hand, within the legitimate terms of reference for a closer; but, equally importantly,
- Three of the participants favoured retargeting to the one target (including the nominator, who suggested retargeting there or deletion), and another participant differed on the target on only one of the subject redirects. This suggests to me only a soft preference for that one target.
In many respects, it is similar to the close I did for How a bill becomes a law, which you 'thanked' me for, where one or two of the participants differed mostly on the target. In that case, though, it was much closer. Here, I think, we don't have such a "close call."
So, just thought I'd reach out to you, to re-read the discussion, and see if it might be able to be closed sooner.

- Dmehus, That's me playing safe there. At the end of the 1st week of an RfD, I tend to relist everything where there is limited participation and no overwhelming consensus. In the case of this RfD, I see that there is no disagreement against sending toxic gas and toxic gases to list of highly toxic gases, but there is a 3-way split about what to do with poison gas and poison gases. So I want to play it safe by waiting an extra week for now, though if nobody joins the discussion in the second week I will most likely close and enact the plan you and CWM proposed as the most-supported option. In terms of the replag that you observed, there is a 5-minute replag between editing the JSON page and MusikBot syncing them to the watchlist JS code, and then your own ISP and browser's replag between the JS page being updated and your own watchlist view being updated. Wikipedia:Projekt Gutenberg-DE didn't actually depend on the deleted version of "Projekt Gutenberg-DE". It only looks that way because both are (separate) translations of de:Projekt Gutenberg-DE. Therefore the histmerge wasn't technically necessary. But the old revisions of Projekt Gutenberg-DE can certainly go in the revision history at Wikipedia:Projekt Gutenberg-DE. - @Pandakekok9: I think you were right. I erred too much on the side of waiting in relation to Thryduulf's open question and Rosguill and 3E1's initial hesitation. But actually as of my bad relist there were 3 people for delete and 0 against. Anyway, sorry for letting this sink to the bottom of the pile; I see that BDD has correctly deleted the redirect now.
