Any decision about what's happening with this article? 69.221.166.33 (talk) 01:38, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Don't worry about it, I posted a request at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents. Thanks anyway. 69.221.166.33 (talk) 08:49, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

67.170.207.109 on Star Trek (film)[edit]

  • Listen, I'm sorry if I did something wrong on the Star Trek article. So, I'm sorry for the mistake, I hardly call it vandalizing, just a simple mistake. I am hoping we can look past this little mistake. --67.170.207.109 (talk) 20:10, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Don't delete redirects![edit]

Please don't delete "unnecessary" redirects. A redirect that was once made is likely to be useful again; redirects should be deleted only when they are actually harmful. See this policy. —Toby Bartels (talk) 02:04, 5 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I see that they're all Talk pages, so it's probably not so important. (That's why I've decided against going through the list and restoring them.) But it's always possible that an external site linked to one of these old talk pages before it was moved, and Wikipedia has plenty of room (it's primarily bandwidth that Wikimedia needs money for), so they really should not be deleted. —Toby Bartels (talk) 02:29, 5 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've not deleted unnecessary redirects for days. Misza13 is doing this at the moment. Regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 09:50, 5 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you mean that you decided last week not to delete them anymore, then I'm glad to hear it! :-) —Toby Bartels (talk) 00:54, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've not the time to do it. And I've decided that at the beginning of December. ;) Well, and Misza is doing atm so that it's not needed that I'll have to do it. Regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 08:22, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like the last one that you deleted was on December 30 (Talk:Highway 132 (Wisconsin), whose deletion the WikiProject reverted), but the date's not important. Misza seems to want you to defend the practice (or at least wants me to ask you to defend it); you might prefer to do so on Misza's talk page. —Toby Bartels (talk) 20:59, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No, that wasn't a redirect. As I said in the log it was a orphaned talk page. Regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 21:02, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned redirect talk pages are still orphaned talk pages, so I thought that you were just changing your deletion text. But you're right; that's not a redirect, even though its article is. That's weird! :–) —Toby Bartels (talk) 21:28, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, a meant that it was a talk page whose corresponding page does not exist. Regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 22:03, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, I see; when you deleted it (but not now), it qualified for CSD#G8. OK. (Actually, I disagree with G8, but that's not your fault.) —Toby Bartels (talk) 09:16, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Question[edit]

How do you revert and warn successively? -- Mentifisto 21:14, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm using the monobook which I've written. I've separated my rollback script which is unluckily just for non admins, but I recommend you to use User:Oxymoron83/twinklewarnauto.js which adds my warning script to twinkle. Regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 21:22, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Um, which warning script? I imported Oxymoron83's but no automatic warnings are issued after a twinkle revert... and doesn't it work with the server's rollback? -- Mentifisto 21:47, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Gee, I see you revert in just a few seconds... the bots revert in seven seconds, you revert in four. What's your method exactly? -- Mentifisto 22:14, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it's my monobook which makes me fast, and I'm using a shortcut to revert—I don't need to move my mouse for a revert (and its followed automatic warning/block). :) Regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 22:22, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
So I should just import your monobook? :-p -- Mentifisto 22:26, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it's just working for admins. But they just need to import it, yes. Regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 22:27, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. I still didn't get how to autowarn though - does it work with rollback or only twinkle? -- Mentifisto 22:32, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oxymoron's script just works with twinkle. But I'll change my rollback script for rollbackers. But it's not finished yet. Regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 22:34, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. -- Mentifisto 22:43, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Worry[edit]

I have to express some concern, mild frustration, and worry over the fact that you often use fourth level warnings the first or second time around, and block rather quickly. Also, correct me if I'm mistaken, but you seem to target dynamic IPs', or IPs' assigned to school districts and colleges. You are an adminstrator, so I'm sure you know the special consideration these group of anonymous users need.

I am inclined to polietly remind you to don't bite the newcomers, which a lot of anonymous users' are, and direct you to this essay, however I am worried that I'll be bitten myself! Is there anyway we can resolve this situation?--Kannie | talk 21:41, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I'm warning vandals with the levels 2 and 4, and block if a level 4 warning was added. I'm not adding a new level 2 warning if the vandal was warned during the last 24 hours (so that I even take care of dynamic IPs)–then he'll get a level 4 warning. … It would be nice if you could give me examples where I've not warned a vandal or was rough to a new user. Thanks and kind regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 22:02, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The fact that you only give vandals two chances--level two and then level four--is what worries me most. It's kind of startling. I thik the fact you admit to it is evidence enough, but I am willing to give you more if you want. It might be experimentation, or the person might actually think that they are serving wikipedia by, for example, blanking the page to get rid of "lies". I may have jumped the gun by saying you target dynamic/school IP's, but that's what I remember most. Sorry about that.
It's obvious I am not going to win this battle, but if you wish to continue the discussion, I will. --Kannie | talk 18:29, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, on projects like de:wp vandals were blocked with at most one warning. Blatant (user page or speed) vandalism is basically stopped even without one. … I've had no complains up till now, since I changed my warning behaviour months ago—and it's imo fair to give somebody a hint if he has made a wrong edit, and if he continues he should know that he could be blocked when he continues his vandalism, which should be fulfilled if he was warned yet (three mistakenly edits made by one person during a short time is imo hardly probable). … I didn't know that I'm basically reverting schools, thanks for your tip, but if a school/teacher is not able to prevent their pupils from vandalizing Wikipedia they should live with the consequences, imho. Well, and yes, I can't understand why people destroy the work of other ones, and I do not understand complains from e. g. Daimler why I've blocked ~ 10,000 workers who has used one IP address (which happened once on de:wp). It's not me who has made the mistake, who vandalized. The company has to fulfil the duty to find the person who destroys one's work and draw the conclusions. … Finally, if you don't give me examples were I've been too disruptive I can't help you :( … and I want to dissipate your doubts! Regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 19:10, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not a problem[edit]

Auto Warn[edit]

Hey, Do you use the rollback for reverting vandalism - or something like twinkle? Does what ever you use autowarn the person? If so, could you tell me where I could get it from? :P I have been granted rollback but at the moment it is no faster then twinkle as you have to find the users talk page and then warn, whereas with twinkle it auto warns. Also, where do you find the changes to revert? I use Lupins Tool - but I wondered it there was a better way. Tiddly-Tom 11:47, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

After reading above comments - I look forward to the modified rollback script. If I was to copy your monobook - would it not work at all or just not let me block? Tiddly-Tom 11:50, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Imo it won't work for you atm. … But could you please tell me the html source code for the rollback button? Should be something like this one: [<a href="…" title="…">rollback</a>] Thanks, —DerHexer (Talk) 11:58, 12 January 2008 (UTC) Btw., I'm using WP:VF to detect vandalism.[reply]
Thanks. I'm sorry but I do not have a clue how to find the html source code for the rollback button :S Tiddly-Tom 18:02, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If you're using Firefox please go to View -> Page Source (or Ctrl+U). Then press Ctrl+F and search for "rollback". Thanks, —DerHexer (Talk) 18:47, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hopefully that is what you wanted! I have no idea how much work goes into changing it - do you have any ideas of how long it would take you? Tiddly-Tom 18:55, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, it's the same link which I have so that my reversion script should work if you import my monobook: importScript('User:DerHexer/monobook.js');. —DerHexer (Talk) 19:15, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Will it think I am an admin and try and get my user account to block users - or is it clever and will report to AIV? Will it only work if I use VF? I would prefer not to downlode programs. Shall I just replace twinkle with this? Thanks! Tiddly-Tom 19:24, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, you're right, it will think that you're an admin, but it should be not too difficult to write a script for additions to WP:AIV—I'll give you a note when I've finished it. You don't need to download VF and you can add it to twinkle, it's not needed to replace it. My script just adds a button to Wikpedia's interface and if you click this button the automatic warnings were added. But don't worry, the normal rollback button will be still available but renamed to "normal rollback". Regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 19:37, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Just tried it - and it squished all page content to about 1/6 of the width! Any ideas why this happened? Tiddly-Tom 19:41, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've heared that Wikipedia's interface was changed and that afterwards some users had problems with my monobook. But it's working here correctly. But this will be fixed for rollbackers. Regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 19:45, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! It is so quick! Have you used lupins tool before? It would be great if when I clicked the [rollback] button on that, it did what the js I just installed did. I dont know if this is a simple thing to do or not. The code is here. Tiddly-Tom 11:25, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'll have a look at it. Regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 11:27, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm using Firefox, and that does not work :S Any ideas? Tiddly-Tom 18:22, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
o_O It's a.setAttribute('accesskey', "s"); so that it should work. Strange, please test it again (maybe with Ctrl+S). Thanks, —DerHexer (Talk) 18:57, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
What does aw stand for?! :P Still does not work. Does anyone else use the script we can ask? CtrlS is save. AltS does not work either. Out of interest, would it be difficult to integrate your script into Lupins? Do you want to do it? By no means do you have to, but it would be useful to know, as if you don't - I might see if I can find someone who feels like it if you don't. It's a lot quicker then Twinkle at the moment - but any increased speed is superb! Tiddly-Tom 19:08, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
aw = Antwort = answer. Very strange that it doesn't work. You've asked me yet if I could add it to Lupin's tool. :P I'll have a look at it. Regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 19:16, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sometimes it warns - some times it does not. If it does not - it just goes to the Action Complete page and then just stays there. Any ideas why? Tiddly-Tom 19:25, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fast Reverts[edit]

What tool(s) do you use to revert pages and warn? You have beaten me to the rollback at least 10 times in the last 1/2 hour. Thedjatclubrock :) (T/C) 20:37, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WP:VF and my monobook. You could import User:DerHexer/revert.js: importScript('User:DerHexer/revert.js');. Regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 10:32, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I attempted to use the code in your revert.js, but after CTRL-F5, I still only have a page of code. What am I supposed to do after that to actually make that code help me revert faster? I just deleted the page instead, like I did when I attempted to use Twinkle (but it doesn't work in IE6). Useight (talk) 21:42, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

BLPs[edit]

This is stale (over two months old), but please check out the history of Dan Motuliak (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views). This article is about a college football player who has, according to the NCAA, never played a down in a single game. It was created as a puff piece [1] with nonsense like "July 8th is now celebrated in Champaign-Urbana as Dan Motuliak day." An IP added vandalism [2]. Another IP, 64.198.236.233 (talk · contribs) blanked the article [3] twice and you reverted him twice and warned the user with standard vandalism templates. Based on the location of this IP, there's a really good chance that this is the subject himself or someone working for the school. WP:BLP#Dealing_with_edits_by_the_subject_of_the_article reminds us that "Anonymous edits that blank all or part of a biography of a living person should be evaluated carefully. When the subject is of ambiguous notability, such edits should not be regarded as vandalism in the first instance, and recent changes patrollers should bear in mind that they may be dealing with the subject. The use of inflammatory edit summaries or vandalism-related talk-page templates should be avoided." The blanked article was completely uncited and was largely vandalism/nonsense. I keep every article that uses {{Infobox NCAA Athlete}} on my watchlist and it's not infrequent that I see libel that escapes notice for entirely too long. Please consider this a friendly reminder to be extra careful when looking at BLPs - sports articles are frequently vandalized and garbage like this article should be stubified or deleted on sight. Thanks. --B (talk) 03:32, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, if I'd be a vandal I'd say the same–that I'm this person. But it's still vandalism even if it's the person itself who vandalizes his article without mentioning his user name. Regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 11:42, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The point is, the article was pretty flagrant nonsense/libel ... all I'm suggesting is that when you revert a blanking, you take a quick glance to make sure that there wasn't a reason for blanking it. --B (talk) 00:30, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

South African Patriot[edit]

Thanks for reverting the vandalised version of this article but why did you then revert it back again to the false version? There is a very full discussion attached which should put you fully in the picture. Mark Hasker (talk) 09:24, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I was not sure if my correct was wrong so that I decided to revert myself. Regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 11:22, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK no prob. I though it was something like that. What is happening is that the former editor of this fascist, racist and antisemitic magazine keeps "doctoring" the article to put himself in a more favourable light. The more people keep an eye on it the better. Mark Hasker (talk) 13:44, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Kommt drauf an, was du haben willst.

RfB?[edit]

Have you ever considered going up for RfB? I mean, so that you could handle user rights locally better. It's just that stewards are encouraged to take actions as your friendly neighborhood bureaucrat, rather than a super-admin (even though the steward policy directly states that stewies aren't super-admins, I really like that term :P ). It just kinda seems like skipping a step. You don't see trusted non-admins at RfB. But I'd lime to see you there someday :) JustinContribsUser page 04:28, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I really feel honoured that you ask me. But I'm imo not involved enough into the community, so that I think that I'd fail. Furthermore, I'm really busy with my work for the university and there's still so much admin stuff undone on de:wp and en:wp, and—of course—steward stuff. … I hope that you'll understand it. Thanks again for your request and kind regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 18:33, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, sure. Just wondering if you'd ever consider it. Cheers! JustinContribsUser page 19:25, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

revert.js[edit]

So you finally made it for non-admins? Cool, this will really help me! (Although it doesn't seem to detect the type of vandalism - I rollbacked a blanking and it warned for vandalism.) -- Mentifisto 17:03, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, my productivity has doubled now, and it even reports to AIV automatically! Thanks DerHexer! -- Mentifisto 18:18, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome. If my script finds an older template it uses its type for the next one—e.g.—if uw-npov was yet added it will add uw-npov4 (or uw-npov3). Regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 18:25, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, look at this :-S I think it just merged with the notice above it... a bug in the script? -- Mentifisto 20:29, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No, wait... 'huggleblock'? O_o -- Mentifisto 20:31, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, I see that you added that just yesterday. Surely a bug then... it should have warned. -- Mentifisto 20:32, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know why it happened and what happens so that I decided to test my script again. Regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 22:04, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, it did it again right now... somewhat embarrassing. :-S -- Mentifisto 22:14, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, I've changed the code so that it should work again. Please clear your cache and test it. Thanks, —DerHexer (Talk) 23:30, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I haven't yet encountered a situation where a block was issued just before my warning. Another question though... is there any way to revert vandalism (like page blanking) without loading the diff? Especially in the case of page blankings, when the article is long, it takes a lot of time to load the diff and if I press rollback without waiting for it to complete the automatic warning won't be issued. -- Mentifisto 12:11, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You could revert, go back in the browser's history and wait until the page is loaded and press the "rollback" button (next to the "normal rollback"). You should see a failure but if you'd go back again in the browser's history my warning script would be triggered. So you'd revert fast and warn the IP. But if the diff is too huge there's only one possibility: Rollback from the contribution's page. Regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 14:16, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I see. I'll do that then. Another thing... could you make the script not mark AIV reports as minor? An admin requested that, since it may not show up on watchlists. -- Mentifisto 16:06, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Done. —DerHexer (Talk) 20:29, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, it still does it. -- Mentifisto 21:39, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No. Have you really cleared your cache? —DerHexer (Talk) 22:53, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Forgot about that. Thanks for everything then. -- Mentifisto 23:56, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

User warnings[edit]

I am somewhat confused as to why you are jumping to the final warning template when warning users for vandalism, examples here and here. These users seem to have vandalized less than four times. Could you explain why this is necessary? Kakofonous (talk) 00:22, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's vandalism. … And if a vandal is blanking dozens articles inbetween seconds I'm even blocking them without a warning. … Btw., what's more important? To stop vandalism, take care of the database and the Foundation's interests or a recommendation to kiss the feet of vandals? —DerHexer (Talk) 00:31, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for the bother. I understand now. Kakofonous (talk) 00:32, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, these words were rude but I hear those questions here quite often during the last time, please have a look at WP:BURO and do not forget that this is a voluntary project—on de.wikipedia vandalism is always stopped after the second edit. To tolerate at least five vandal edits before you're allowed to block a vandal are far too much. Nobody likes it to take care of dozens of vandals and templates, to remember which template and which type should be used in this exact moment. It could even happen that fighting vandalism would be ignored because of the confusing behaviour of warnings. Regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 00:40, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

peer review[edit]

I was wondering if you could take some time out of your schedule to head over to the Heroes (TV series) talkpage and give us an honest peer review. The page has gone through some major changes in the last few months, and it would be fantastic if a prominent editor/contributor like yourself, could head over and give us at the Heroes Wikiproject some sound opinion and ideas on improvements for the page. We have all worked very hard at improving the page, and we need great outside, reliable and trustworthy users to come over and help us improve. I you are interested in joining the peer review discussion with other prominent users/contributors, much like yourself, please follow the link. Explanation[edit]

For this revert [7]. All non-free media requires a rationale for fair use and you reverted a rationale being added, albiet it being valid. You essentially rendered that image deleteable under WP:NFCC despite it having a valid rationale prior. — Save_Us 18:06, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Quick Question[edit]

Hi, DerHexer! Just one quick question: why do you like to warn users from editing various articles when you didn't revert them? SchfiftyThree 23:13, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's my script which thought that I've made the revert. Regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 23:14, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That's kind of happened in my Wikipedian life, too. I would try to rollback an edit, where after I do the command, sometimes it will say "Action complete." But then I go to the page history and someone else has reverted it. I only tend to warn users when I revert the edit and it says it was done by me. SchfiftyThree 23:20, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New topic[edit]

You seemed to have accused me of vandalism, "Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did to Proportional representation. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox."

However, I have never edited the page on Proportional representation.

How can this be? --74.14.72.122 (talk) 16:07, 24 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Have a look at the bottom of your talk page: "This is the discussion page for an anonymous user, identified by the user's numerical IP address. Some IP addresses change periodically, and may be shared by several users. If you are an anonymous user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other anonymous users. I think it's experience … but I don't know why you're slower than me. How fast is your internet connection? —DerHexer (Talk) 18:49, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it's supposed to be 5Mb/s, but I don't know if my brother's PlayStation 3 is taking up a lot of our bandwidth. (I live in the middle of nowhere, the nearest "city" (with a population of ~75000) is nearly 35km away, and I think that bandwidth drops off the farther you are from your ISP) I do know my upload speed is only like 384Kb/s, so that may be it. I only asked because I have had Huggle for a week today, and I have never seen anyone beat me out so consistently. Are you using Huggle or Twinkle or something like that? It would be better to use the edit summary to explain why you delete a lot of content. A person who sees this removal has to think that you're vandalizing the article. Regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 18:55, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Another bad revert[edit]

Hey, I guess I approached things backwards this time (edited first, talk-paged about it after, instead of the reverse) but your revert of my edit to the Coming Out page was wrong. There is a very concrete difference between "gender role" and "sex," and its complexities are incredibly important when discussing transgender issues. I've put a post in the talk page about it now but unless you've got a concrete reason as to why substituting "gender role" for "sex" on that page is inappropriate, please don't revert it again when I redo the edit later.68.72.59.225 (talk) 18:25, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Okay. —DerHexer (Talk) 18:58, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Der Hexer It seems you defended the Romney (sheep) page against a bizarre edit. If I read the history right, someone tried to re-caption one of the pictures. I do very little Wiki work, but as someone who raises Romney sheep I've had a hand in the article and appreciate your vigilance. Does this sort of thing happen a lot? I guess so. Thank you, --Sawyer12477 (talk) 00:27, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome. This happens very often. —DerHexer (Talk) 08:19, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A revert war starting[edit]

I reverted the edits when the User talk:Spico1 replaced the page with his own of Jared he has since put that page back up agian. I saw you warned him before that he will be banned so this is another edit he has done. If you want to talk to him again feel free to do so. --Mihsfbstadium (talk) 18:26, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Psh![edit]

That's the Teutonic sense of humour, for ya. Did you get beaten by other kids when you were in school, or something? 24.56.52.134 (talk) 20:58, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello[edit]

I am he. I just have not logged in. 70.233.174.190 (talk) 20:59, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, okay. —DerHexer (Talk) 20:59, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Another Barnstar[edit]

The RickK Anti-Vandalism Barnstar
For reverting vandalism at a rate that would make ClueBot ashamed of itself, and for beating me to multiple reverts (you must have a faster internet connection than me), I hererby award you this Barnstar. Steve Crossin (talk) 21:06, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, thanks! I've seen you huggleing, too. :) I'm using a 2-MBit-connection, not so fast, but okay. Regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 21:09, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oh, yes. There is no alternative to Huggle, and, I have a zero tolerance for vandalism. But I noticed a lot that, even as I pressed Q the second I see the vandalism, I'm quite often beaten to it, at the moment. Other times when the vandalism isn't so high, I get more reverts. But I noitced that on multiple occasions, you beat me to a revert, and that deserves a barnstar. It's funny how Wikipedians race over reverting vandalism, isn't it Steve Crossin (talk) 21:20, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism Level[edit]

  • I just wanted your opinion on the vandalism level. Would you agree that vandalism has been significantly slowed down? I'm not one to doubt people normally, but someone has changed the vandalism level from High to Guarded (Moderate-Low). Do you think this is justified? Steve Crossin (talk) 21:55, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, I've stopped now reverting. But imo it's more vandalism than in the last hour. Regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 21:58, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • I've spoken to the person who dropped the level, and asked them to post a message on my talk page. I've stopped reverting for now as well, I just think dropping the vandalism level by 2 levels is overkill, so I'll ask them if it can be changed to Moderate. Cheers, and good work :) Steve Crossin (talk) 22:03, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

hello this is 70.160.213.190 user on wikipedia. I'm just here to say that I deleted the Lance Bass page because he is weird. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.160.213.190 (talk) 21:19, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Blanking of CSD-nominated pages[edit]

Hi. Just want you to know, when a page creator blanks his own page after it gets nominated for speedy deletion, it ususlly means that on second thought he agrees with the deletion. The best course of action, in such a case, is to simply add {{db-blanked}}, issue no user warning, and move on to other concerns. Thank you. --Blanchardb-MeMyEarsMyMouth-timed 22:02, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've not seen that it was the only user. Otherwise I'd have deleted it. Regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 23:08, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ban[edit]

Why don't you ban User: 216.253.220.18? He seems to have made unconstructive edits to Wikipedia and it's been going on for months. Why don't you just ban him? look at his user talk page LOTRrules (talk) 22:21, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, he has not vandalized after the final warning. If he continues I'll block him. Regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 23:41, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nature (philosophy) article[edit]

Could you perhaps be kind enough to explain to me, why you warned me for restoring the NON-VANDALIZED version of that page?

User block required?[edit]

Hi, you warned Emma06|Talk|contribs previously about vandalism. I've reverted 3 vandal-edits she made just now. Seeing as how most of her edits appear to be vandalism, perhaps a block is in order? Bardcom (talk) 13:59, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Update, another vandal edit later today. Bardcom (talk) 15:52, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Could you please report her to WP:AIV? Thanks, —DerHexer (Talk) 17:41, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sure thing. Bardcom (talk) 18:10, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Alexander Graham Bell article[edit]

Dear Der, could you look into Meucci who has insisted on changing the original article to reflect a POV about the invention of the telephone. The actions have been similar to other trolls in the past and he seems to have followed me home, making comments on my talk page as well. FWIW Bzuk (talk) 18:29, 4 March 2008 (UTC).[reply]

Hmm, difficult to decide. … He does edit wars, doesn't cite his opinion and insults you. Imo I'd block him. But I think that it would be better to report him here. Regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 18:48, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tell me, what's wrong with you?[edit]

Barack Obama's full name is Barack Hussein Obama, Sr. It's not an insult or anything, I even voted for his son. Why do you have to be so trigger-happy? BTW: I think you need to get laid.--76.208.186.222 (talk) 09:45, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wow. that was so uncalled for on so many levels. THE KC (talk) 00:54, 13 March 2008 (UTC).[reply]

Barnstar[edit]

The Special Barnstar
For giving me a reason to keep fighting vandalism-competition. You seem to be the only one who is able to beat me at reverting vandalism, and for that, I award you this barnstar :) Steve Crossin (talk) 10:02, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hehe, thanks. :) That's what I've tried to reach. —DerHexer (Talk) 10:34, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • You mean, you just fight vandals because you can compete with others? You're on! This is a contest :P Steve Crossin (talk) 10:36, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No, to motivate you (and others) to fight vandalism [as fast as possible]. Regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 12:11, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

For beating those vandals...[edit]

WikiProject Germany Invitation[edit]

Hello, DerHexer! I'd like to call your attention to the WikiProject Germany and the German-speaking Wikipedians' notice board. I hope their links, sub-projects and discussions are interesting and even helpful to you. If not, I hope that new ones will be.

Riana's request for bureaucratship[edit]

Dear DerHexer, thank you for taking part in my RfB. As you may know, it was not passed by bureaucrats.
I would, however, like to thank you for taking the time to voice your support, despite concerns cited by the opposition. Although RfA/B isn't really about a person, but more about the community, I was deeply touched and honoured by the outpouring of support and interest in the discussion. I can only hope that you don't feel your opinion was not considered enough - bureaucrats have to give everyone's thoughts weight.
I also hope that the results of this RfB lead to some change in the way we approach RfBs, and some thought about whether long-entrenched standards are a good thing in our growing and increasingly heterogenous community.
I remain eager to serve you as an administrator and as an editor. If at any point you see something problematic in my actions, please do not hesitate to call me out. ~ Riana 12:25, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I feel sorry that your RfB failed in this way. But I'll support you the next time, too. :) Regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 16:23, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

DerComplexer[edit]

This is the last warning you will receive for your confusing edits.
The next time you use oppose edit summaries or humour on Wikipedia as you did to Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/DeadEyeArrow you will be blocked from editing. :) Rudget. 16:28, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No, I'll continue this trolling. Block me if you can! *de-sysops Rudget* :P ;) Regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 16:45, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reverting constructive edits and accusations of unconstrcutive edits[edit]

Please do not make extra work for people by accusing them of "unconstructive" edits barely seconds after an edit has been made.

Doing so is unconstructive in itself.

Thank you.

--90.197.80.81 (talk) 22:39, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This edit is unconstructive and worsens the readability. Regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 22:41, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
While it's not the most constructive of edits, it is constructive and it does improve readability. Using numbers in an article, unless scientific or unwieldy, is slovenly. Cheers. --90.197.80.81 (talk) 23:41, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
