January contest
Hi, Just a note, I updated the points allocated for your entry of the French Permanent Military Tribunal in Saigon article for the January article contest. Another editor had assessed it as C-class but hadn't completed the checklist properly so it showed as start class. I took a punt on the criteria required to complete the checklist in order to make the Milhist rating a C-class and updated the points accordingly. Cheers, Zawed (talk) 09:11, 3 February 2022 (UTC)
Eger citation style
Greetings, Catlemur. You asked me "Why do you keep removing references and leave paragraphs uncited?" I did not leave anything "uncited." I consolidated all the references to a specific work under a single link to "Footnotes" and had the respective page numbers (not paragraphs) quoted right next to the link in the text. This saves us from having an author's work cited many times over in the "Footnotes" section. I find this to be more practical. Do you disagree? -The Gnome (talk) 10:40, 26 February 2022 (UTC)
- @The Gnome: I do disagree. Here is your version of the article. If you look at the Massacre section, the 2nd, 3rd and 4th paragraphs do not end on a reference despite the fact that those claims were previously supported by a reliable source. You have removed references without an explanation and left uncited sections. I don't mind the other changes at all, just don't disrupt the existing references of the article when you expand it.--Catlemur (talk) 14:02, 26 February 2022 (UTC)
- Bear in mind, please, Catlemur, that the title of the article previously named Eger Bloodbath has been changed to Assassination of Wallenstein. That was following the discussion I initiated and in which you participated. You reverted my relevant edit here that conformed the wikilinks to the current situation but I'm no going into any kind of reverting process. Missing cite in Christodoulos Sozos
The article cites "Klapsis 2013" but no such source is listed in the bibliography. Can you please add? Or is it a typo in year, but the page range does not match "Klapsis 2009". Also, suggest installing a script to highlight such errors in the future. - @Renata3: I redownloaded the Klapsis article I cited and another one from the same author dating to 2013 (the latter fit the page ranges I used). None of them contained information relevant to Sozos so I removed the Klapsis refs. I have no idea how I fucked up since it was 5 years ago, but I remember working on the 1931 Cyprus revolt article in parallel and might have gotten mixed up in the process.--Catlemur (talk) 06:30, 25 October 2022 (UTC)

- @Sovietblobfish: The lede and infobox mention that he died in 1584, this is neither referenced nor mentioned in the main body of the article. The coverage of his life in the article ends around 1568, so what happened after that and how did he die? "As governor of the city Jarnac was subordinate to the governor Antoine of Navarre". This passage is a bit confusing, since Jarmac was governor of La Rochelle, what did Navarre govern? Other than those details and the grammar its a great article and an easy B.--Catlemur (talk) 19:28, 8 November 2022 (UTC)
- I confess myself frustrated coverage wise, he fades from prominence after the 1560s, and none of the 20 books I consulted had any information to provide me on his later career. Its possible a 19th century biography of him might have more to offer in that area, but I find those biographies quite tedious and have yet to track one down.
- I believe his death year was mentioned in the index of one of the books I used, will need to check that.
- Navarre was the governor of Guyenne, inside the provincial governorships like Languedoc, Normandy etc. the towns were governed by lesser governors. Sovietblobfish (talk) 19:38, 8 November 2022 (UTC)
