Hello,

You asked for a translation of an article from French to English named Kaye Mortley. The French article doesn't existe! So, i couldn't help you regarding this translation!

Can you give me more information about your request?

Somali transwikis

Hi! Thanks for transwiking those articles out to the Somali wikipedia. Could you please also ensure that Abdul Rasak Hareed gets transwikied as well? It's been hanging around long enough that it's going to be prodded at least by me sooner than later. Thanks and have an enchanting new year! -Yupik (talk) 17:28, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I did it: so:Abdul Rasak Hareed. I don't speak Somali, all I did is to copy the text into a new article at so: and to add an edit summary mentioning the English article and the original author.  Andreas  (T) 18:47, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I only know a few words, so nothing enough to say squat about those articles unfortunately. Thanks for the transwiking though! -Yupik (talk) 19:49, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My Country is My Love

I joined the wikisource, created the page for Lydia Koidula; also I am ready to create other Estonian poet and culture people pages to the source as well. Is such style allowed ?

I would like to keep the English translation as it is . People will eventually start to look the translation in English as anthem change reaches active phase - like people otside Estonia might want to know why etc we do may do this. Karabinier 18 January 2008 (UTC)

transform

Hello -

I wanted to tell you how much fun I had with the recent article about the transform. Though my passion may be Kloeppeln, much of my professional life has dealt with 2D and 3D computer graphics, which includes the matrices and various transformations involved. I was delighted to read the German text and realize that I really did understand most of what it was saying (though not the GPS part of it). I am familiar with the terms and concepts used, but I had just never seen them in German before! I know you had started to translate it and perhaps I should not have jumped in and done the rest. I'm sorry if I stepped on your toes. I knew that the original German would need to be removed, but I thought it might help to have it there temporarily for purposes of proofreading. Thanks for removing it.

It seems that a whole team of experts worked on that article later. I was impressed with their work. Did you invite them to participate? I sometimes wonder what the original editor must have thought when all of us Heuschrecken descended on "his" article (and then moved off again, just ask quickly.)

I enjoy looking at wp:pnt to see what's new, but I'm trying to clean up the German translation page now. There are so many requests that they don't all fit on the page without running into transclusion problems.

Anyway, if you need any help in the future, please ask. Gruss. Scbarry (talk) 23:52, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Queichheim

Hello AndreasJS -

A while ago, you requested a translation from German of the article on Queichheim. This request was completed at that time by use of a machine translation which was quite unreadable. I recently came across that request while cleaning up the German translation page and have re-done the English article by really translating it from the German page. I thought you might want to know. I was wonderign if you help me or you know somebody who might be willing to help me in modifying the Estonian county infobox to such one as the Switzerland and Germany regions have? I modified the casual county template by after many attemps i still havent figured out how to make this infobox to work and display properly :(

Well yes it looks okey etc but its primitive and not very informative :(. I would like to create one similar to the swiss or german table which would allow to add more info - increases maybe more interest and also looks much better-cooler :) Karabinier (talk) 13:16, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Okay so these are all translations from English right? What are each of these items? -- Cat chi? 19:09, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
These are mostly original texts in Ancient Greek that have been translated into other languages. The translations are in other Wikisources. For example, s:el:Κλειώ is the first part of the Histories (Herodotus) written by Herodotus and translated into English by George Rawlinson and into French by Pierre Henri Larcher. The transwikis point to these tranlations. A reader who has opened the English translation at s:History of Herodotus/Book 1 would find it convenient to find a transwiki link to the original Greek text.
Others are translations. For example, s:el:Ο Πλούτος μας is a translation of an original Russian text by Peter Kropotkin. Its English translation is s:The Conquest of Bread/Chapter I (the Russian original is not on WIkisource). You can easily find out what each of these items is by clicking on the English transwiki link.  Andreas  (T) 21:28, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In the meantime I added interwiki links to the Greek texts of the Old Testament that point to the corresponding Hebrew texts. For example, s:el:Γένεσις now has a transwiki link pointing to s:he:בראשית ניקוד. Running interwiki.py on these pages will add interwiki links to Old Testament texts in many other languages. All the Greek old testament texts can be found in the category s:el:Category:Παλαιά Διαθήκη.  Andreas  (T) 21:39, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I ran the code. Please review wikisource:el:Special:Contributions/Ηλεκτρονικός υπολογιστής. Bot removed a few bad links. -- Cat chi? 19:00, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. Could you also run python interwiki.py -cat:Παλαιά Διαθήκη? this would add interwiki to Hebrew Tanakh pages and Hebrew interwikis to Old Testament pages.  Andreas  (T) 22:12, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Bible translations are a mess. I was explicitly instructed not to run an interwiki code for that. -- Cat chi? 19:20, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

What Shadow did

It's Shadow keeps editing the page, for it to say that Mikey only likes Mitsuki, but Mikey once liked Lily, so I make edits to mkae it clear that Mikey liked Lily, but then moved his love to Mitsuki. Shadow keeps changing it back.

Like on Kappa Mikey character, Mitsuki. It says in the data banks, "Love by: Mikey". I changed to it "Love by: sometimes Mikey", because Mikey doesn't always love her through the whole series, but shadow keeps changing it make to make it say he always loved her. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.202.248.191 (talk) 19:09, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Some of the edits he made, that are wrong, and he keeps doing it . . .

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mikey_Simon&diff=205932910&oldid=205171635

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mitsuki_%28Kappa_Mikey_character%29&diff=205932955&oldid=205464534

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Lily_%28Kappa_Mikey%29&diff=203875944&oldid=203783013

As you can see, with Mikey, Mitsuki, and Lily, it's a love triangle, but Shadow keeps changing it so that it says, that Mikey only loves Mitsuki, and that's not how it went. What I'm trying to say in my edits (that shadow keeps changing) is that it's not just between Mikey and Mitsuki, but also Lily, forming a love triangle. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.202.248.191 (talk) 19:15, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Request to move article El Campillo, Spain incomplete

You recently filed a request at Wikipedia:Requested moves to move the page El Campillo, Spain to a different title - however your proposal is either incomplete or has been contested as being controversial. As a result, it has been moved to the incomplete and contested proposals section. Requests that remain incomplete after five days will be removed.

Please make sure you have completed all three of the following:

  1. Added {{move|NewName}} at the top of the talk page of the page you want moved, replacing "NewName" with the new name for the article. This creates the required template for you there.
  2. Added {{subst:RMtalk|NewName|reason for move}} to the bottom of the talk page of the page you want to be moved, to automatically create a discussion section there.
  3. Added {{subst:RMlink|PageName|NewName|reason for move}} to the top of today's section here.

If you need any further guidance, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Requested moves or contact me on my talk page. - JPG-GR (talk) 05:13, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Makedonia newspaper.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Makedonia newspaper.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Macedonian

Hi Andreas, I've created a template in Macedonian for users who contribute on the wrong wiki: {{contrib-mk1}}. Just thought you might be interested if you come across a Macedonian article again. I think the use UE template is a bit bitey and/or confusing - one would presume the users don't know English very well, and then their first message is one of those! There are others at WP:PNT/T, but I think we need more translations, and they should be "advertised" more at the WP:PNT page; I don't know how many users read the intro over there. Cheers, BalkanFever 10:08, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

History of South Tyrol

Hi Andreas, since you have been involved in the interminable Alto Adige/South Tyrol/Province of Bolzano-Bozen debate I'd like your opinion on some heavy editing which is being done on the History of South Tyrol page by an anonymous user. I have made my objections clear on the talk page, it would be nice to have some more users take a look at the situation. Thanks, Pcassitti (talk) 18:41, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi again. I like you solution to the slash in this article's name. I don't know that everyone will agree, since I just got comments from one of the long-standing editors of that page, objecting to my move, which got rid of the slash. Take a look at Wikipedia:Subpages before you talk to anyone else about this. Have a good day. Cbdorsett (talk) 04:04, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I have access to the publications you mentioned. It is an interesting subject, I'll try to squeeze in some time to add this information. It surely would make the article more balanced. Cheers, Pcassitti (talk) 10:49, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Our library does not have a copy of Miscellanea di storia delle esplorazioni XXVII. I have had a look at Steininger's and Fremke's work, as well as the publication by the museo storico di Trento. I think I could write a summary on the subject, which is quite interesting, but there is an anonymous user continually editing and changing the contents of the History of "South Tyrol" and "Tyrol" articles who refuses to enter any debate on the talk page and keeps pushing his POV. It would help if both articles where semi-protected. Pcassitti (talk) 07:02, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have added to the Tolomei article since at the moment I don't see any use in working on the History of South Tyrol and Tyrol, and noticed that the same anonymous user is making his POV statements in the Tolomei article as well, although I am glad to see he is showing more restraint there. I plan to add some more information on the activities of Tolomei during and after WWI shortly. Cheers, Pcassitti (talk) 08:57, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Carl Goresky

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Carl Goresky, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Carl Goresky seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Carl Goresky, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Dab note

Hi, I see your reasoning with the dab note at the Mac. article [1], but would you mind it if we kept my previous version just for a few days? I deliberately put in that temporary pipe link as a little test, to measure how many readers actually need to navigate away from the page looking for something different (using page view statistics on the temporary pipe redirect "Macedonia (dab)"). Fut.Perf. 21:57, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't mind, if this is not permanent.  Andreas  (T) 21:59, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I understand you're still not happy with the new naming arrangement of the Macedonia pages. I wonder, maybe we could arrange for a place somewhere where we could discuss this specific naming problem among a few sensible people, far from the madding crowd of all the national shouting? I mean, personally I'm totally open to be convinced by sensible arguments, I'm only finding it exceedingly difficult to have anything like a rational discussion in the presence of the kinds of people that we are now seeing on that talk page (and will be seeing at the arbitration case). Your thoughts? Fut.Perf. 17:00, 21 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is too good to be true. Future do you consider yourself a member of an "elite" group of editors who will decide among themselves (perhaps off-wiki?) a solution and impose it to the plebians? Boy will ArbCom be thrilled with this diff.--Avg (talk) 17:08, 21 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I see you took the {{db-a2}} tag off this article and started translation. There is a point to db-a2 - the article as it stands is a breach of copyright, because it was cut and pasted from :de without the acknowledgement, which the GFDL requires, of its authors there. There is a procedure for doing it properly, so that the history is not lost, explained at WP:Translation. Apologies if I am explaining something you knew already; I didn't understand it myself until it was explained to me in similar circumstances. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 08:29, 29 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

ChrisO hands out illegal warning

I just got a warning from ChrisO for 'Original Research.' I was editing the list in the Macedonia Name Dispute page and I had just removed a reference used fort he Dutch position as it was a dead link. Then I noticed the two GOVT references on this page: [[2]] both point to Denmark using FYROM or FYR Macedonia yet Denmark was in the list under 'List of countries to be sorted.' I moved Denmark to countries which use FYROM, ChrisO immediately reverted stating you need a source that states how Denmark uses the name, not infer it yourself from a random document. I then informed him, the 'random document were two Danish Govt Pages that were already there as references concerning Denmark and reverted. ChrisO then proceeded to revert and dish me out with an 'Original Research Warning.' This time he changed his story and stated: you are inferring Denmark's position, but the documents you cite do not say anything about whether Denmark recognises the constitutional name or not. This is interesting. Most of the list is made up of Embassy pages using the word Macedonia, and immediately they are on the list, under countries who recognise the Republic of Macedonia. I wonder how many of those editors received warnings from ChrisO? I am going to make this action of ChrisO stick as his behaviour in general has downgraded the neutrality Administrators are supposed to have. Any help on how to make him come to account for this action would be most appreciated. He has put the case down here:[[3]] Reaper7 (talk) 13:58, 2 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
