Hi Adrian. I work on conflicts of interest and advocacy issues in Wikipedia, and my attention has been drawn to the fuss going on now around now around transhumanist topics which bleeds over into all kinds of speciesism topics as well. I have been trying to figure out what is going on especially with the sockpuppeting that is going on.

In the course of that I came across your recent edits, which have turned to focus on these issues recently. You appear to be editing under your real name, and with your recent edits, it seems clear that you either work at Sentience Politics, or that someone is impersonating you. Would you please clarify which? Also, if someone is not impersonating you, would you please have a look at the WP:PAID policy and the obligation to disclose there?

I can talk you through the disclosure and COI management process, if you do have something to disclose. You can reply here, as this page is on my watchlist, and that will keep the thread together. Thanks. Jytdog (talk) 12:44, 23 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    • Hi Jytdog, thanks for the heads up. I haven't been editing on Wikipedia for a while, as you can see. I do work occasionally for Sentience Politics, helping them with scientific research as part of my interest in speciesist and animal rights topics. Apart from adding a disclosure to my edits on the article for wild animal suffering, is there anything else I need to do? Thanks. Adrianrorheim (talk) 08:27, 24 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your reply. Yeah, disclosing is essential, especially in deletion discussions. There is all kinds of hot advocacy going on around these topics now. Do you understand what is driving all the activity? What drew you back, at this time? Jytdog (talk) 11:10, 24 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, that makes sense – my bad for forgetting. I don't know where the whole disagreement started with relation to the W.A.S. page. I personally heard about it from a friend with whom I share an interest in these topics, and thought I could give it a go using my old profile. Adrianrorheim (talk) 16:02, 24 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, my recent edits have been tagged with "few or no other edits outside this topic". This is simply false, as you can clearly see from my post history. How do I go about removing it? Adrianrorheim (talk) 08:11, 25 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Those tags reflect your recent involvement, which is all about this stuff. That is why you came back right? There is a whole bunch of that going on and everything is a mess right now. Jytdog (talk) 10:59, 25 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
OK, then it makes more sense. I agree that the whole thing is a mess right now. I've now made additional edits to the REG article as well, addressing the complaints from other posters, and included disclosures where necessary. Would be great if you could highlight any other areas in which I need to improve. Again, thanks for clarifying. Adrianrorheim (talk) 13:42, 25 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for being so decent about this. Nope, just try really hard to be neutral! Good luck to you. Jytdog (talk) 13:45, 25 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Likewise! Adrianrorheim (talk) 16:43, 25 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
