@No more excuses digital: Wikipedia is not the place to advertise about yourself or your company. Sentences like "NME Digital Agency provides creative solutions for all your business communications" are glaringly unencyclopedic and have no place here. L293D ( • ) 02:28, 2 October 2018 (UTC)

Talk:Karma (Call of Duty player)[edit]

Hello, L. You've closed Talk:Karma_(Call_of_Duty_player)#Requested move 12 September 2018 without a rationale. May I ask, why do you think there is consensus to move? Flooded with them hundreds 15:13, 4 October 2018 (UTC)

Yes, I think there was consensus to move. There were 4 supporting the original proposal, 3 supporting an alternative proposal, and 1 supporting the original and opposing the alt. I know that's not really consensus, but either 1) the page wasn't moved at all, or 2) moved to the original proposal, or 3) moved to the alt proposal. The consensus was 0-5-3. Revert explanation request by Wodgester on 04 Oct 2018[edit]

25th Armoured Engineer Brigade Royal Engineers (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Hi there. I am quite new to this stuff so please correct me if I am wrong - but I thought that my edit was constructive in a cleanup sense; in that the body of the article did not include the title immediately so I was trying to correct this. I thought it would be appropriate to make the brigade's two names bold. Wodgester (talk) 18:43, 4 October 2018 (UTC)

Wodgester (talk) 18:43, 4 October 2018 (UTC)

I'm sorry, that was my bad. I didn't notice you self-closed the nowiki tag. L293D ( • ) 18:46, 4 October 2018 (UTC)

Changing usernames[edit]

Sometimes people have a reason for changing their username, and you don't need to draw attention to it. Natureium (talk) 01:22, 5 October 2018 (UTC)

So? I'm just asking why, and yes, I'm annoyed when editors change their usernames. It took me forever to understand that Dreamy Jazz was actually wpgbrown. L293D ( • ) 01:37, 5 October 2018 (UTC)
Because when renames are doing discreetly, there is normally a very good reason. TonyBallioni (talk) 01:39, 5 October 2018 (UTC)
You mean its related to IRL privacy? I've never seem a user try to hide their remanings. L293D ( • ) 01:41, 5 October 2018 (UTC)
That is usually what it means when redirects are suppressed, yes. It's pretty normal. You don't notice them because we handle them without much fuss, because otherwise it defeats the purpose. Logs are public, but generally it stays pretty well hidden. TonyBallioni (talk) 01:44, 5 October 2018 (UTC)

Technical news

  • Partial blocks should be available for testing in October on the Test Wikipedia and the Beta-Cluster. This new feature allows admins to block users from editing specific pages and in the near-future, namespaces and uploading files. You can expect more updates and an invitation to help with testing once it is available.
  • The Foundations' Anti-Harassment Tools team is currently looking for input on how to measure the effectiveness of blocks. This is in particular related to how they will measure the success of the aforementioned partial blocks.
  • Because of a data centre test, you will be able to read but not edit the Wikimedia projects for up to an hour on 10 October. This will start at 14:00 (UTC). You might lose edits if you try to save during this time.

Arbitration

  • The Arbitration Committee has, by motion, amended the procedure on functionary inactivity.
  • The community consultation for 2018 CheckUser and Oversight appointments has concluded. Appointments will be made by October 11.
  • Following a request for comment, the size of the Arbitration Committee will be decreased to 13 arbitrators, starting in 2019. Additionally, the minimum support percentage required to be appointed to a two-year term on ArbCom has been increased to 60%. ArbCom candidates who receive between 50% and 60% support will be appointed to one-year terms instead.
  • Nominations for the 2018 Arbitration Committee Electoral Commission are being accepted until 12 October. These are the editors who help run the ArbCom election smoothly. If you are interested in volunteering for this role, please consider nominating yourself.

The Lion King (musical) (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Hi there the Lion King Musical Cast Distinctions Section Needs Updating; I worked on the show internationally from 2014-2018 so can assure my information is reliable though you can also check the current cast pages for each production:

Please Change:

X= Melina M'Poy was the first actress to perform as the two leading lionesses. She was Sarabi (France, 2007–2010) and Nala (Basel, London, UK tour and Singapore, 2011–2015)

Y = Melina M'Poy was the first actress to perform as the two leading lionesses. She was Sarabi (France, 2007–2010) and Nala (Basel, London, UK tour and Singapore, 2011–2015), Germany (2017 to the present day)

Because Melina M'Poy since June 2017 to present has been playing Nala in the German Production.

Please change:

X= Futhi Mhlongo (2000–2004; 2010 to the present day)

to Y= Futhi Mhlongo (2000–2004; 2018)

Because as of February 2018 was replaced by Bongiwe Happiness Malunga

Please change:

Balungile Gumede and Marvette Williams are the actresses who have played Sarabi for the longest timespan in the show. Balungile started in the German production of the show in 2010, taking over Marvette

to Y: Balungile Gumede and Marvette Williams are the actresses who have played Sarabi for the longest timespan in the show. Balungile as of February 2018 is a cover Sarabi, however she started in the German production of the show in 2010 taking over Marvette playing Sarabi until 2017 when she was replaced by Kerry Jean.

Because as of Feb 2018 she is a cover and in Feb 2017 she was replaced.

Please Change X: Nokubonga Khuzwayo has been performing as Nala for the longest timespan in the show. She's performed in South Africa (2007–2008), Taiwan (2008), Las Vegas (2010–2011), American tour (2011) and Germany (from 2012 up to the present time)

Because in 2017 Nala was taken over by Josslyn Hlenti who also played Nala on the Australia Tour Production.

Pleas change X: Nosipho Nkonqa is the cast member who's been in more productions than any other. She was in the Holland (2004–2006), South African (2007–2008), Taiwan (2008), Singapore (2011), United Kingdom tour (2012–2015), Basel (2015) and London (2016) productions.

Because Nosipho is still in the London Production

Please change X:

Gaia Aikman will be the first actress ever to perform as both Young and Adult Nala. She was one of the children assigned for that role in the original Dutch production (2004–2006) and was selected as the leading for the adult version of the same character in the Dutch revival production (2016–2017).

She was one of the children assigned for that role in the original Dutch production (2004–2006) and was selected as the leading for the adult version of the same character in the Dutch revival production (2016–2017). Other notable young actors and actress' who have gone on to be apart of the Adult Ensemble include: Lauren Alexandra Young Nala (London 2000) Ensemble Cover Nala (London 2013-2014), André Fabien Francis Young Simba (London 2004) Ensemble (Germany 2015-2018), Jermaine Woods Young Simba (London 2005) Ensemble Cover Ed (UK Tour 2014-2015).

Hi Mod could you change the title from Asim Muneer to Lieutenant General Asim Munir ? & if possible delete old wiki page & move or redirect to this one as this is official one https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Asim_Muneer# DJ Kamal Mustafa (talk) 14:30, 10 October 2018 (UTC)

@DJ Kamal Mustafa: the pre-existing article at Asim Munir has better formatting and sources but less text. I propose that you take the text from Asim Muneer as well as the image and add them to Asim Munir. L293D ( • ) 14:34, 10 October 2018 (UTC)

Hi is this possible you can Change title ? That is lieutenant General Asim Munir

Hi is this possible you can Change title ? That is lieutenant General Asim Munir DJ Kamal Mustafa (talk) 14:44, 10 October 2018 (UTC)

No, I can not change the article title. There are two articles on Wikipedia about Asim Munir. Therefore, they have to be merged. The older article at Asim Munir has better formatting and sources but less text. I propose that you take the text from Asim Muneer as well as the image and add them to Asim Munir. May I ask you to clarify your question? Are talking about the {{R from ___ templates? L293D ( • ) 00:54, 11 October 2018 (UTC)
Indeed, WP:RCAT. Sam Sailor 00:56, 11 October 2018 (UTC)
I do try to apply RCAT templates when I can, but I could certainly try to add more. L293D ( • ) 00:58, 11 October 2018 (UTC)
Ham pizza, Ham-apple pizza, Ham apple pizza, Hamapple pizza, all redirected to Hawaiian pizza. RCATS? Pro-tip: Google search and "what links here" were incorporated in AFCHS for a reason. Sam Sailor 01:33, 11 October 2018 (UTC)
But do you? The above mentioned redirects have not been categorized. Why? What about Halloween: 20 Years Later, H20: 20 Years Later, Halloween: H20: 20 Years Later? Sam Sailor 19:50, 13 October 2018 (UTC)
I've added a {{R from alternative spelling}} now. L293D ( • ) 23:28, 13 October 2018 (UTC)

A couple points[edit]

  • I always request a B-class assessment at Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/Assessment/Requests. It's fine that you're reviewing my articles as I finish them, but please update the page above as you do that so other editors don't waste their time.
  • And if you don't have a source, don't try to guess on page ranges like you did on the last para of Albatross. You added ones appropriate to the encounter with Pol III.
  • Please remember to stay consistent with my citation style if you're going add any cites; consistency is a requirement at both ACR and FAC.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 02:47, 11 October 2018 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/pearl playa[edit]

This RfA is malformed, if you are going to add someones RfA, please ensure it is at least properly formatted first. — xaosflux Talk 03:04, 18 October 2018 (UTC)

RfA transclusion[edit]

Could you please explain why you made this edit? The user didn't, as far as I can see, ask anyone to transclude the RfA, and there are plenty of non-transcluded RfA subpages out there. Plus, a large part of the reason WP:RFA is extended-confirmed protected is that it prevents very new users who don't know what they're doing from starting an RfA and potentially tarnishing their editing record in the future. The user hasn't even edited in the late few hours. I've reverted the edit for now. Kevin (aka L235 · t · c) 03:06, 18 October 2018 (UTC)

L235, could L239D be a possibly compromised account? Specially noticing that the user Pearl playa seems like a sock. Lourdes 03:23, 18 October 2018 (UTC)
(watching) @Lourdes: ...i am here to make wikipedia a vandalism free zone and to make up for my past mistakes: quite! ——SerialNumber54129 06:50, 18 October 2018 (UTC)
No, my account is not compromised, thank you very much. But if you want proof, the SHA at the bottom of my June user page still stands. L293D ( • ) 03:29, 18 October 2018 (UTC)
  • Could you please explain why you made this edit? You've still not answered the primary question, which is what led me to the first premise of your account being compromised. Lourdes 11:12, 18 October 2018 (UTC)
    • I transcluded the RfA because I wasn't exactly sure what to do about it, so I figured transcluding it would get someone's attention. I've seen several similar RfAs get transcluded then snow closed after a dozen opposes. P. S. I didn't answer the question before because it was past eleven EST. L293D ( • ) 12:18, 18 October 2018 (UTC)
      • Extended confirmed is supposed to filter out such RFAs without biting the editors, or wasting a dozen or more people's time. ϢereSpielChequers 17:59, 18 October 2018 (UTC)
      • L293D, alright. Thanks for the reply. I now understand why you did it; probably you won't do it again, given the attention this has ended up garnering :) Have fun editing. Warmly, Lourdes 18:15, 18 October 2018 (UTC)

Backlog

As of 21 October 2018, there are 3650 unreviewed articles and the backlog now stretches back 51 days.

Community Wishlist Proposal
Project updates
  • ORES predictions are now built-in to the feed. These automatically predict the class of an article as well as whether it may be spam, vandalism, or an attack page, and can be filtered by these criteria now allowing reviewers to better target articles that they prefer to review.
  • There are now tools being tested to automatically detect copyright violations in the feed. This detector may not be accurate all the time, though, so it shouldn't be relied on 100% and will only start working on new revisions to pages, not older pages in the backlog.

Soyuz MS-10 (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

I just changed the time of launch and landing of the Soyuz MS-10 based on the published to-the-second time on various reputable forums like NASASpaceflight.com where they collect as much data as they can about spaceflight missions and there's always discussions about them. Based on the launch time and the duration of the mission I then inferred the landing time. The edit was removed because I didn't added a source but there were two reasons for this: First, I'm not very used to do very complex things on wikipedia, I usually edit what I can and then wait for others to look fo the resources and link them on the pages because I don't know very well how to do it. Second, even if I knew how to do it I didn't know how to explain how it is taken the info and all of that, I know there are well written articles out there where there's a section specifically for that but, again, I'm not really good at editing here so I just thought "ok, I'll change this, maybe someone will think about this". I hope you can understand this and correct anything if there's a need for that. Thanks for at least noting what the problem was on the history page of the article, it was helpful :)

Page mover granted[edit]

Hello, L293D. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, and move subpages when moving the parent page(s).

Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.

Useful links:

If you do not want the page mover right anymore, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Thank you, and happy editing! Primefac (talk) 15:54, 28 October 2018 (UTC)
