F17.Week 2[edit]

The Wikipedia page on Information Privacy is very detailed and well-cited. The lead is thorough and provides good introductory facts about information privacy. The article overall is pretty neutral and presents various types of information privacy. Perhaps these individual sections can be expanded upon to include more examples and even graphics. Sections on how to protect information privacy and names of authorities in information privacy are interesting and helpful. The "Legality" section should include more content. Overall the sources are generally reliable, since most are primary documents. Some sources are unreliable and may need to be replaced.

The Wikipedia page on Privacy in English law is also interesting. I learned that English privacy law primarily focuses on information privacy, and keeps physical privacy laws as part of criminal law or tort. I would like to see more English privacy laws covered on the page, especially if England does have laws pertaining to cybersecurity, surveillance, data protection, and more. The sections are pretty neutral and clear, but they are rather short and general. Perhaps each section can be expanded upon more. Also, it would be nice to include other sections about English privacy law for a more descriptive and thorough Wikipedia page. Current sources for the page should be more reliable - most are from the BBC News website and are not peer-reviewed articles or journals.

F17. Week 4[edit]

On the page that I founded last semester, Privacy in Education, I hope to add more information from various peer-reviewed articles and reliable sources. I hope to expand on the sections that I have already written, such as legal cases regarding privacy in education, educational technology, and more. I'm thinking about adding new sections about privacy in higher education specifically. Topics such as online monitoring and data protection are becoming increasingly important issues within academic institutions of advanced research by faculty and students. I want to address and discuss these issues on my Wikipedia page. I also hope to add anything else about privacy in education that I find interesting and that I believe will help the public learn more about privacy concerns in the education system.
