Abu Abdallah al-Baridi

  • ... that between 934 and 944, Abu Abdallah al-Baridi fought against Ibn Ra'iq, Tuzun, Bajkam, the Hamdanids, the Buyids, and Oman, twice occupied Baghdad, and was named vizier four times? Source: a summary of the article focusing on the period 934-944 where he was one of the contenders for power in Iraq
    • ALT1:... that Abu Abdallah al-Baridi, one of the warlords who vied for control of the collapsing Abbasid Caliphate in the early 10th century, has been described as a "devil" and "an accomplished villain"? Source: Quotes with refs given in the 'Origin and early career' section

General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
  • Cited: Yes - Offline/paywalled citation accepted in good faith
  • Interesting: Yes
QPQ: Done.

Overall: New enough and long enough, well-cited with what seem to be reliable sources and seems to be as neutral as possible. Earwig's Copyvio Detector stands at 10.7% so it seems to be free of copyright violations. Both hooks are cited in sources, some of these were checked and verified while others were assumed to be good faith (for books not available online). I personally prefer the original hook, but ALT1 is also interesting.

I think there is one (minor) correction which needs to be done. In the last sentence of the first paragraph of the "Final years and death" section, "Ibn Qajih" is mentioned. Doesn't this refer to the ruler of Oman, ie. ibn Wajih?

All in all, it's a well written article about a somewhat obscure yet significant historical figure, so I definitely think it's worthy for DYK. Well done! Xwejnusgozo (talk) 01:43, 18 January 2020 (UTC)

@Xwejnusgozo: Thanks a lot for the review. Indeed it should be "Ibn Wajih", well spotted. Constantine 22:43, 21 January 2020 (UTC)
