whole new text: submitting as new article or just edit existing article?[edit]

Hi, having a little experience with Wikipedia editing I would appreciate any help with the following question - concerning article about "Yisrael Katz (politician born 1927)" : I edited this article in my user's sandbox, it is not a minor edit but more like a whole new article. I submitted the new article by clicking the "ready to request its creation" link in my user's sandbox. Is it required in this case or should I just copy my text into existing Wikipedia article edit-page? Thank you, Pinias (talk) 12:18, 24 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Pinias,
In general if the article already exists, you will want to just put the edits in the existing article. However, when doing this with a major edit please be wary of changing important data, for example you should keep in mind the infobox, categories, persondata, etc. Also it is recommended to post a link to the sandbox here first so that experienced editors can look at the draft and see if anything needs to be changed.

Looks good. I've made some changes (e.g. removing references to Wikipedia articles, removing external links in the text) and added some categories. I think it could do with a few more references, but by and large, I think it's ready to be copied here.
