Viktor Schreckengost's Pedal Cars[edit]

The pedal cars would seem to merit their own sub-section in the Wikipedia biography for him.

These cars appear to have been original with Schreckengost and Murray Corp.. There were many similar toys of course, but the one-piece pressed steel design seems to be orginal with them. Other vendors did not do it because of the tooling cost. The cars are also interesting because they are a straight scale up of the small (15 -20 cm long) tin toys that had been popular for a half century prior. A staggering number of the pedal cars were sold. Amazingly some of the pedal cars, like the fire engine and Murray pursuit plane, are still in production a half century later.

I have a request in to the Schreckengost Foundation to clarify whether or not they regard their images of these toys to be restricted.

Any thoughts Schreckengost fans?
