Could we please do better?[edit]

please can we avoid the very pop media style vernacular name translation, and address the etymology in a more professional style?--Kevmin § 19:18, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Don't see the problem. Many article leads do it, and this one is literally sourced to one of the describers. A proper treatment belongs in the article body when it is properly expanded. Lythronaxargestes (talk | contribs) 20:23, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
While many articles do it, its a remnant of early wiki times. Yes the paper uses the term once, but it shouldnt be presented as the second thing that appears in the article.--Kevmin § 15:31, 6 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I can support moving it later in the lead but I don't support taking it out entirely. Look at the etymologies in the leads of the FAs Achelousaurus, Elasmosaurus, Ichthyovenator, and Spinophorosaurus to name a few recent ones. Lythronaxargestes (talk | contribs) 18:49, 6 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
