Phylogeny of Thecocoelurus[edit]

The placement of Thecocoelurus within Therizinosauria follows Kirkland et. al. (2004). Thecocoelurus, when considered a therizinosaur, is the first therizinosaur from Europe.

Kirkland, Zanno, DeBlieux, Smith and Sampson, 2004. A new, basal-most therizinosauroid (Theropoda: Maniraptora) from Utah demonstrates a Pan-Laurasian distribution for Early Cretaceous therizinosauroids. JVP 24(3).

Priority problems[edit]

Richard Lydekker in 1888 was apparently the first to name it Coelurus Daviesi in Lydekker, R., 1888, Catalogue of the fossil Reptilia and Amphibia in the British Museum (Natural History). Part I. London, pp. 2–42 but I'm not sure whether his publication predated that of Seeley or not. Could anyone provide this information?--MWAK (talk) 07:27, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
