Merge and rename[edit]

The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Not moved. The discussed articles have been merged, and opinion leans toward a move being unnecessary.-- Hadal (talk) 11:04, 31 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

TWINSTWINS (spacecraft) – per WP:SPACENAME. Colds7ream (talk) 11:35, 13 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to suggest that NASA TWINS Mission be merged into this article as both deal with the same spacecraft, then the resulting page be moved to TWINS (spacecraft) per WP:SPACENAME. Colds7ream (talk) 11:35, 13 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose rename, support merge. WP:SPACENAME is only an essay and anyway only says to add (spacecraft) when disambiguation is necessary and in this case it is not. Only disambiguating when necessary is also in keeping with out general guidelines. The merge is obviously needed. Dpmuk (talk) 12:21, 13 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support: esp. the rename, since someone who is unfimiliar with the fact it is spelt in all caps might search for it with the first letter capatalized. I think it should also be added to the Twins disambiguation page.--NavyBlue84 12:29, 13 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose; disambiguation is unnecessary. Someone searching for "Twins" will be in the same situation regardless of what this article is called. Powers T 12:31, 13 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose as unnecessary. Agree that the NASA TWINS Mission could be merged into the article, but that doesn't seem like a reason to add an unnecessary disambiguation. Jenks24 (talk) 14:09, 13 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support: support move. In addition, TWINS is copied from [1]. And rename in TWINS (spacecrafts) or Two Wide-angle Imaging Neutral-atom Spectrometers if possible. Sorry for my english, I am French. Artvill (talk) 16:29, 13 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: Artvill, it is probably best to keep it called TWINS (spacecraft) and just redirect Two Wide-angle Imaging Neutral-atom Spectrometers to the actual page. That is how a lot of spacecraft missions are done, so best to keep with how it is normally done.--NavyBlue84 20:39, 13 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strongly oppose move, support merger, disambiguation is unnecessary, factually and technically inaccurate (TWINS are not spacecraft, they are instruments), and goes against the spirit of the guideline quoted. Merger should be uncontroversial and addresses a clear duplication of content. --GW 23:13, 25 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • The merger seems uncontroversial, so I have carried it out. --GW 11:26, 30 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
