Untitled[edit]

Do these sentences seem awkward to anyone else? "Since his graduation in 1976, his story has been told in the 1993 film Rudy. Written by Angelo Pizzo, directed by David Anspaugh and produced by Rob Fried, the award winning team who created Hoosiers, and actor Sean Astin portrays Rudy in the film." What about a rewrite that would go something like this? "In 1993 his story was told in the film Rudy. The film was written by Angelo Pizzo, directed by David Anspaugh and produced by Rob Fried, the award winning team who created the film Hoosiers. Actor Sean Astin portrays Rudy in the film."

== Carried off field

Was Rudy the "only" player to ever be carried off the field, or just the "most recent" or "last" player to have that honor? Any confirmation? --mtz206 15:09, 22 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Per the ending credits of the movie, the "last" player to be carried off the field.  ALKIVAR 21:24, 22 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, presuming the movie has it right, will change the trivia mention to reflect Rudy as the "last" player. --mtz206 22:02, 22 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

the movie is older then that fact but i cant find anything about that but on this page.

Rudy was the last player carried off the field, however Coach Lou Holtz was carried off the field following his last home game in 1996. --Daysleeper47 15:48, 14 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What does carried off field mean? I'm real confused. =S 202.131.174.180 (talk) 11:04, 23 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article mentions that Mard Ewdards was also carried off the field (the only other person to be carried off). The reference for that sentence doesn't mention anything about Marc Edwards so I found this reference that does mention it. [1] OlYellerTalktome 02:37, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Different Heights[edit]

The Rudy (film) has Rudy listed as 5'6". This article has it listed as 5'7". I don't know which is correct. 02:58, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

His website says 5'6". I added it and a reference. Jauerback 21:50, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Post playing career[edit]

He is listed as a Notre Dame alumni. Did he actually graduate? What degree did he earn, in what year, in what field? How did he convince a Hollywood studio to make a movie about his life story? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hanksummers (talkcontribs) 14:45, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rudy in business[edit]

Does anyone follow Rudy and his business practices? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Art2gecko (talkcontribs) 19:03, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I follow the business practices and am very disappointed. I am very new to this and started the current projects section. Will someone help me with adding "Rudy's" business failures that have resulted into hundreds of millions of dollars in stock losses for investors? He has had 3 different stock symbols and is about to do it again. I feel we need to help warn the public. contribs)

Regardless of whatever alleged losses or harm may be out there, the Web site currently listed as the primary source for the business section (badrudy.com) specifically claims to present one investor's perspective. The section is also poorly written, does not incorporate reference links well, and could use a more balanced perspective. Perhaps those who have concerns about Ruettiger's business practices could find articles from peer-edited sources to provide a more balanced perspective. I have no opinion either way, and I'll be glad to attempt to do this when time permits. H v fisher (talk) 07:32, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Clearly someone wants to hide what happened from 1977 to 2007. Tigah Dude (talk) 12:52, 14 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Re: 'Latest News' section[edit]

Latest News sections are not appropriate for encyclopedia entries. Properly cited information regarding noteworthy current events in a subject's life should be incorporated into the article itself. Additionally, the information contained in this section is all speculative. Consideration for an unknown award is hardly encyclopedic and seems to exist solely as a promotional footnote for a fad diet. I am removing the section. If someone feels they can better reference the information or incorporate it's contents into the article in a more encyclopedic manner, let's discuss it and figure out a way to do it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by K10wnsta (talkcontribs) 22:50, 15 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please explain the inclusion of the following[edit]

The movie RUDY is not a biography, and does not claim to be, so the paragraph above is not even valid. It is an argument against something that does not exist. The movie Rudy is based on a true story to deliver a message to inspire people to overcome adversity and pursue their Dreams. The movie RUDY changes lives and gives people hope during their darkest times. The person, Daniel "Rudy" Ruettiger, travels the country delivering a positive message encouraging people to believe in themselves and never give up. The essence of the RUDY message can be summed up in the following quote: "People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway. If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway. What you spend years creating, others could de...stroy overnight. Create anyway. If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway. The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway. Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway. In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway. "

I ask because as it is written it doesn't seem to be attributed to Joe Montana. Who is it attributed to? Where is the source? Doesn't http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Based_on_a_True_Story_(disambiguation) explain the concept of based on true a true story well enough? Why don't all of these movies (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_films_based_on_actual_events) require the same special care? Doesn't the second to last paragraph in "Early life and college career" explain that paragraph well enough? Whats the point behind the Mother Theresa quote? Did someone ever describe the actions behind Rudy in this way? If so is there a source? if not why should it not be deleted?24.115.19.178 (talk) 11:04, 31 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

YouTube as reference[edit]

I thought you couldn't use YT as a reference unless you owned the video. I used it as a reference one time and it was removed.BillVol (talk) 17:57, 3 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
