Firkusny or Firkušny[edit]

On WP, Antonín Dvořák is not spelled Antonin Dvorak, and Leoš Janáček is not spelt Leos Janacek. Nor is Bohuslav Martinů spelt Martinu. All of these alternative spellings, the ones without diacritics, are frequently found in the literature, but we stick to the original spelling. Is the fact that Firkušny became an American citizen but the other 3 didn't, relevant to how we spell his name? I don't think so. Martinů spent a lot of time in the USA and his last years in Switzerland. I propose to move this to Rudolf Firkušny. Any comments? In the meantime, we're currently mixing Firkusny and Firkušny in the text. -- JackofOz (talk) 13:10, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Jewish??[edit]

Firkušný is categorized as Jewish, but an anon. IP editor recently removed that info from the Intro, declaring that he was NOT Jewish. Does anybody know which is correct? Cgingold (talk) 13:04, 20 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I can say with complete confidence that Firkušný was not Jewish, he was in fact a practicing Catholic. 66.100.244.254 (talk) 19:42, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
