Enaliornis formerly known as Pelagornis[edit]

From Enaliornis (an Early Cretaceous hesperornithine):

"Enaliornis was originally named Pelagornis ('sea bird') by Seeley in 1866, but that name was preoccupied by a Miocene bird related to the pelicans."

Should we have a note on this in Pelagornis? -- 187.67.203.186 (talk) 02:26, 1 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No, because it doesn't really concern it. FunkMonk (talk) 14:58, 1 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Any reason to keep it separate? FunkMonk (talk) 09:03, 31 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@FunkMonk not really. The only real notable thing about P. sandersi is the size, and that is already included in the Pelagornis article, so it can just be elaborated upon and the two articles can be merged. Logosvenator wikiensis (talk) 20:25, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Junior synonyms[edit]

I found many post 2010s papers mentioning Osteodontornis and several other genera belonging into pelagornis, should we merge Osteodontornis? — Preceding unsigned comment added by PrehistoricBirdLover (talkcontribs) 03:28, 6 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
