The original article mentioned Nicomedes being driven from his kingdom twice (which is not true) as well as leaving out a number of details concerning Rome's involvement with his kingdom. Other minor edits, including a more full account of the years of events.

Edited article according to research done for a writing project. Sources include Plutarchos, Suetonius, Michael Grant, and a large number of web sites.

Great corrections, Cicero! This article really did need some good work on it. But I'm not sure that your objection that Nicomedes was expelled only once is unattackable; Smith's DGRBM states: Mithridates VI "set up against him his brother Socrates, surnamed the Good, whom he persuaded to assume the title of king and the name of Nicomedes, and invade the territories of his brother at the head of an army furnished him by Mithridates. Nicomedes was unable to cope with a competitor thus supported, and was quickly driven out of Bithynia ; but he now had recourse to the protection of the Roman senate, who, it seems, had already ackowledged his title to the throne, and who now immediately issued a decree for his restoration, the execution of which was confided to L. Cassius and M. Aquilius. To this Mithridates did not venture to offer any open opposition, and Nicomedes was quietly reseated on the throne of his father, 90 BC (Appian, Mith., 7,10,11,13; Memnon, c. 30; Justin, xxxviii. 3, 5; Livy, Epitome, lxxiv.)." Interesting, very well found there! I had never seen this, but I had seen Aquilius' name attached to Nicomedes in an abstract way. Thank you! I will do another edit to include this information soon.

Sulla Fled

Sulla "fled", not to Anatolia, but to Greece. He only really managed to reach Anatolia when he made peace with Mithridates VI. His interests may have been in Anatolia, but I'm not sure such poetics belong in a Wikipedia article. 135.23.131.132 (talk) 00:01, 16 February 2014 (UTC)
