Israeli ownership[edit]

I realize that Israel actually occupies/owns (depending on your POV) Jerusalem, but the PA claims it. So, I placed it with both stubs. V. Joe 04:49, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Removed Israeli tag[edit]

since Muslims there r not Israelis and don't want to be so. In addition, the quarter is in East Jerusalem. Robin Hood 1212 14:08, 31 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's part of Israeli municipality of Jerusalem, and by the way, Jews live there too. Please stop injecting your politics into every article, thanks. Jayjg (talk) 16:49, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Make the "stub" neutral[edit]

Months back, I changed the "stub" in this article to read "Middle East geography stub," due to the fact that the Quarter is located in occupied East Jerusalem. International law and consensus is clear - this is not part of Israel. Rather, it is the occupied West Bank. Israelis, however, claim it as their own. Due to this dispute, "Middle East" geography stub would be a more appropriate entry. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 207.245.188.228 (talk)

Population of Muslims in the Muslim Quarter?[edit]

Currently the article only lists the Jewish population of the Muslim Quarter. Surely the Muslim population is also important information? As it stands, the article appears somewhat biased. L124.96.203.5 10:11, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Create disambiguation or rename?[edit]

There are many Muslim Quarters on Earth, and I would say the most famous one being Xi'an Muslim Quarter which is not only 3 times more populous but one of China's most popular tourist attraction with a million visitors per year. Most people I would assume who type in Muslim Quarter are referring to that one. Could we change the name of this to Jerusalem Muslim Quarter, or Muslim Quarter (Jerusalem) and have a disambiguation page for "Muslim Quarter"? Anyone oppose? Mattximus (talk) 01:39, 2 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I think we should use a consistent naming pattern for all the past and present quarters of the Old City of Jerusalem. At the moment there is Jewish Quarter (Jerusalem), Christian Quarter, Armenian Quarter and Moroccan Quarter. Any others? It would be helpful to readers to have "(Jerusalem)" in all of these, with either a dab page or a redirect for the name without "(Jerusalem)". Zerotalk 11:49, 2 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes that works. I agree adding (Jerusalem) will benefit readers. I don't think it's controversial since the Jewish Quarter (Jerusalem) is already that format. Mattximus (talk) 14:59, 2 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
