Plagiarism?[edit]

A good portion of the copy on this page appears to have been used directly, or with minimal semantic modification, from the mortenlauridsen.net web site's "Biography" page without citation. Is there a flag we can apply to indicate the article needs revision for originality?

Infobox needed?[edit]

In trying to fill out this article a bit, would an infobox be helpful? Also, if I can find some sort of free-use photo that contributes to the article, I'll throw it in there.

Disrespected?[edit]

Lauridsen is widely considered a 'nob' in the world of music, due to his obsession with French, German, and Italian 6th's, which all make very regular appearances in his music; his use of such musical techniques is seen as 'obsessive', and the man is greatly disrespected for this trait.

Two points here - First, this particular bit doesn't seem like it fits in any encyclopedic source. Second, is there any reference at all that states that he is disrespected in the slightest bit for his style? I may just happen to agree, personally, with that statement, but I don't think that that's grounds for this blanket statement that, frankly, comes out of nowhere.

It was just some vandalism.

Although no one responded to the afformention comment, I'd hardly say that an over abundance of augmented sixth chords is grounds to call someone obsessive. Lauridsen may be seen as a one-trick pony because the majority of his songs are in D major, and the D9 chord appears everywhere, but Eric Whitacre respects him extremely (he told me himself), and I can not recall anyone ever saying anything negative about the man. If using augmented sixth chords is "obsessive", than nearly every composer in history is obsessive. Kntrabssi 10:27, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Danish heritage[edit]

Have edited 'with Danish roots' to Swedish based on admittedly brief Googling. The Swedish-Americans link was already at the bottom of the article, so ... http://www.mosingers.com/composers/lauridsen.html

If he was of Swedish heritage, his name would be spelled with an "o" (Lauridson). He does have Danish roots:

"First things first. Anyone coming across the name Morten Lauridsen would assume its bearer was Danish; was he, and if so, which generation? "Danish heritage-great-grandfather, on my father's side," he explains, in the relaxed and easy manner that seems to be characteristic of the man. "They were pioneers in the Seattle area. My great-aunt said that they spoke nothing but Danish for the first 20 years, The other side of the family was a mixture of Irish and German, and they settled in eastern Washington." [1]
