Both Malala and Abdus Salaam are "highly controversial" among some in Pakistan, more because they ran afoul of intolerant Islamic fundamentalism than through any fault of their own. It can be explained that Pakistan doesn't have any Nobel laureates who can be celebrated across Pakistan in a simple and uncomplicated way (without offending vocal segments of the population), but the explanation should be done differently.
