The apple?[edit]

Artsy question... Can someone explain to me why Jesus is holding an apple in the below pic. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Wga_Pompeo_Batoni_Madonna_and_Child.jpg —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.71.82.12 (talk) 22:21, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

July 08 Edits[edit]

I noticed extensive additions to this article in the past 24 hours. Many of them I would characterize as actively promoting membership in the Legion of Mary. While I may personally share such sentiments, they are not appropriate to Wikipedia (see Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not, the section on soapbox and self-promotion). I ask the author of those edits to reconsider which portions are appropriate to an article about the Legion of Mary, and which parts are better left to a Legion of Mary website, linked at the bottom. Also, in my opinion, on a graphical level, there are too many headers and lists in the current form. --Eoghanacht 2005 July 9 00:03 (UTC)

Clean-up[edit]

I was torn between "cleanup" and "NPOV"; parts of the article are in need of being rewritten in neutral language; the article as a whole needs to be reorganised — at the moment it's somewhat desultory. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 21:54, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please explain more. ant_ie 18:08, 19 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's difficult to explain it better than just pointing at the article. It contains sections made up of numbered lists in note form, the "Causes" section is written in PoV terms (and its style is rather like a "religion for children" book), etc. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 12:06, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Understand. I might do something in the near future, time permitting. ant_ie 12:19, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright violations[edit]

I have reverted the article back to this diff (which I have had to modify a little) as it appears that almost all the article was cobbled together from various different web pages:

  1. http://experts.about.com/e/l/le/Legion_of_Mary.htm
  2. http://valenzuelacomitium.tripod.com/id3.html
  3. http://www.saintvictor.org/legion.html
  4. http://www.legion-of-mary.ie/Causes/Profiles.html

All that could be salvaged were the opening sentences. --Kwekubo 16:28, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

this article[edit]

I agree that this article must not promote the Legion, but I feel that it doesn't have enough information. it has nothing of real value, so I intend to add more. If any of you feel that I have said or done anything that is out of line, please edit it, but I would like to provide more information on what the legion is and what it does. ~~(by unknown author)~~

I have substantially extended the article and added a lot more information about the Legion, its system, its grade of membership, its meetings and its spirituality. ~~Lumendelumine 11:11, 14 Dec 2006 (UTC)~~

Search term "Legio Mariae"[edit]

The search term "Legio Mariae" should redirect here. It does so on the German WP, but not here on the English one. ~~Lumendelumine 12:04, 14 Dec. 2006 (UTC)~~

Done. ~~Lumendelumine 07:20, 23 Dec. 2006 (UTC)~~

Legion of Mary links[edit]

Please don't add any more Legion of Mary links, except if they are of interest to a general and international readership. Please bear in mind that not all readers of the English WP live in the US nor may have any possible link with Legion of Mary Tidewater. Furthermore, the link section is not meant for advertising your own Legion praesidium/regia/whatever but to provide further substantial general information about the Legion. Citations for the The System of the Legion Section[edit]

Since it was tagged, I provided a citation for the organization's meeting rules, etc. All of which are specified in the Legion of Mary Handbook. It looked a little weird adding the same citation for every paragraph, so I'm not sure if there's a better way to do it. Also, unless there are any more raised objections, I think it's acceptable to remove that tag. CoffeeGiraffe (talk) 18:09, 14 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Per detag policy, I will now remove the tag. If anyone has objections, please address them here before tagging again. CoffeeGiraffe (talk) 16:19, 6 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
