Scope confusion[edit]

I am unable to understand the difference in scope between this article and North-West Frontier Province (1901–2010). Can somebody explain? -- Kautilya3 (talk) 12:00, 29 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Pashto the national language?[edit]

The infobox says that Pashto is the "official and national" language, but this is obviously not true, the national language of Pakistan is Urdu, and I am pretty sure Urdu is official in KP as well. 65.101.48.103 (talk) 16:37, 7 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Portal:Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether Portal:Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The page will be discussed at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Portal:Khyber Pakhtunkhwa until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Language Pie Chart[edit]

@Uanfala: Hi, I see that you removed the languages pie chart. While I agree the census/data has problems, for instance not representing local languages, I wouldn't call it misleading? It, at the very least, gives an idea of the situation of languages in KPK. For instance, one could probably assume that 6% of the population, a significant minority, speak a language other than the ones listed? As for the data being outdated, ie. pre-FATA merge, can a simple note not suffice? :

It's bad practice to have the charts include tiny immigrant languages but exclude major local ones. This wasn't misleading for you because you know how the census counts the languages, and you're aware that Sindhi or Brahui for example are not native to the province. Most readers won't have that knowledge.

If a pie chart absolutely must be present, then the right way to do is to cut off the list after the smallest language counted by the census that's bigger than the biggest one that's not counted, and combine all the rest into "others". That's what has been done in the article text: percentages are given only for Pashto, Hindko and Saraiki (and these already include the combined figures for KPK + FATA). – Uanfala (talk) 21:40, 4 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

SO if we look at the population of KPK before merger of FATA, the language percentages were 76 - 11 as shown in the pie chart (Pashto & Hindko), but after the merger the percentage becomes 80 - 10, that mistake needs to be rectified. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.215.183.53 (talk) 07:15, 27 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
