Birth year[edit]

The article says Panksepp was born in 1943 (in the intro and in the "Early life and education" section), which is what the muskingum.edu and cambridge.org sources say. However, revison 847531107 made by Otsima added an infobox that says he was born in 1942, which is confirmed by the ncbi.nlm.nih.gov reference. So the article now says that he was born in 1943 and 1942, which is obviously unacceptable. The article should either pick one year, confirmed by a sufficient number of reliable sources, or it should say the birth year is unknown (something like "1943 or 1942").—J. M. I think 1942 was a mistake in that article, which said he was 73 when he died, which means 1943, not 1942. The article by Davis & Montag is more accurate: (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7219686/). The copyright information in his book The Archaeology of Mind also lists 1943 as year of birth. I changed the year to 1943. Thank you106.72.175.2 (talk) 09:45, 26 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Nationality[edit]

Panksepp is listed here as an Estonian neuroscientist and his biobox lists his nationality as Estonian. This is incorrect - he was a naturalized American citizen. He was educated in the United States, he lived in the United States, and he did all of his work in the United States. The Estonian version of this article rightly refers to him as an American scientist of Estonian origin. "Nationality" likewise does not refer to a person's ethnic background. As an Estonian, I certainly understand the impulse to claim him as one of our own, but not to the point of rewriting history. I am editing the article to correct this.
