Try to expand stubs. Ideas and theories about life, however, are prone to generating neologisms, so some stubs may be suitable for deletion (see deletion process).
Watch the list of atheism-related articles and add to accordingly.

Religion[edit]

I've changed the last part of the Writing section, to make it clear that Paul's paper did not suggest what the previous edit said it did. I quoted the paper itself to prove this point. For an extended discussion of the study, I wrote an article in the recent Skeptic's Magazine about the study, entitled Religious Belief and Societal Health.

I modified this further. If the previous edit was in error, it's point does not deserve to be addressed at all.Dinoguy2 01:44, 2 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I split out the section, rewrote it, and replaced the inline links with notes and end refs. I didn't add any new content, but I did add two {{fact}} tags because criticism should be sourced (Jensen's paper doesn't qualify; the only publication of Paul's that he references is Beyond Humanity 1996, not the paper being discussed). | Pat 04:56, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Jensen[edit]

So October 1st, a certain Artisticmerit deleted the mention of Jensen calling some of Paul's statistics into question, while accounts of Paul's researches and opinions have ballooned in the "Religion" section. Then there are lines like, "In a discussion in Science covering the growing body of mainstream research demonstrating that religion is dependent on dysfunctional socioeconomic conditions, Paul observes..." etc. I haven't read the article, so I wouldn't know, but I'm pretty sure there are many who would take issue with that matter-of-fact tone, among them many many materialists of Scott Atran and Michael Persinger's ilk. So maybe that could be rephrased? I would like to see some mention of Jensen back in hear, but since I'm not up for an editing war or even an editing skirmish, I won't hold my breath. Gregory S. Paul[edit]

There is an RfC on the question of using "Religion: None" vs. "Religion: None (atheist)" in the infobox on this and other similar pages.
