  • according to the Australian Electoral Rolls, 1901-1936 Record for Ellis Charles Wackett and Doreen Ivy Wackett, they lived at Pt. Cook. She has RAAF listed after her name, and "Home duties."   • According to the passenger list for SS Europa, sailing from Southhampton, September 29, 1934, the children were Shirley Sandle Wackett, age 5, and Stuart Lawrence Wackett, age 1, born in England. Charles Ellis W. is listed as a flight lt. Australian Air Force. The family appears to have been traveling with a nurse, Dorothy Jones. Wackett and his family (and nurse) are all designated "diplomat" on the ship's manifest.They arrived in New York City on 4 October 1934.   • additional electoral rolls also show her middle name as Ivy. In 1936, they are living in Victoria, Kooyong, Kew, with Alice Wackett, on Tregarron avenue. that was not the intent, Ian. :) I'm never quite sure what original research means on Wikipedia. Sometimes it means drawing ones own conclusion from material, at other times, it seems to mean digging into the background. I usually do spot checking of the biographical dictionaries, just for "grins" and it's disgraceful how often some of them have mis-information. Auntieruth55 (talk) 19:11, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
oh, and I suspect Alice Wackett may be the mother (Alice nee Lawrence)-- James doesn't appear on the electoral rolls so he may have died when the boys were young...? Doreen Dove's father Thomas was a military guy. On Montreal to Liverpool, June 20 1927,ship name Megantic (White STar Line) ship's passenger list, he and Doreen are listed as Military.
