Harvard Divinity School[edit]

Article claims a degree from Harvard Divinity School but the sources cited only mention that he took classes there. 19:27, 19 May 2013‎ 108.45.75.119.

Good point. I modified the article so that it matches the source cited (that he took classes there, basically). -- John Broughton (♫♫) 22:07, 19 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Who made him a bishop?[edit]

"In June 1998, he was consecrated a bishop." By whom? I don't see anything about what body or denomination did this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.94.47.4 (talk) 17:31, 22 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Positions (sources)[edit]

These positions should be included into the article:

Views on evolution - Wrong Because Chimps Can’t Talk[edit]

"“Scientists have made much of the fact that chimpanzees have been trained to use sign language. They take this as proof that primates are our ancestors because they, like us, have “language capacity.” It is amazing the length to which people will go to prove what is so palpably false… There is an unfathomable gulf between humans and all other creatures because creation was designed that way. No amount of time or theorizing will ever bridge that gulf. Only mankind was made to represent the divinity and genius of God himself.”"

“It is amazing the length to which people will go to prove what is so palpably false.”

Prosperity Gospel[edit]

From His book:

“One of the common mistakes made by those who have a heart is to assume that the only appropriate giving is downward, i.e. to the poor. While giving to the poor is important, the most powerful giving for wealth building is upward giving.” (page 177)

“Money is not evil, nor does it make people evil. Money magnifies the character of an individual. It gives you more opportunity to be who you really are. God is the creator of silver and gold. He has nothing against money, in fact he values it.” (page 172)

AIDS and sex education[edit]

"On several occasions, he also blocked safe sex education and resources, both for adults and students:
In 1987, as federal and local officials were first beginning to take preventative efforts, Jackson organized a group of 30 clergymen in opposition to a proposal from Boston’s superintendent of schools to place four public health clinics in city schools. He claimed any program that even mentioned condoms was promoting promiscuity. That same year, he held a candlelight vigil outside a local ABC affiliate, WCVB, demanding that the station pull sex education public service advertisements that endorsed the use of condoms. As the Associated Press reported at the time, “Jackson said the commercial showed a 10- to 12-year-old girl saying, ‘I just learned to have safe sex.’” (The girl was actually either 16 or 17, according to the ad’s creator.)"

Yoga Leads to Satan[edit]

"When one hears the word meditation, it conjures an image of Maharishi Yoga talking about finding a mantra and striving for nirvana. . . . The purpose of such meditation is to empty oneself. . . . [Satan] is happy to invade the empty vacuum of your soul and possess it. That is why people serve Satan without ever knowing it or deciding to, but no one can be a child of God without making a decision to surrender to him. Beware of systems of spirituality which tell you to empty yourself. You will end up filled with something you probably do not want."

Citation moved; can someone please fix?[edit]

The link to the "GOP's E.W. Jackson addresses past drug use, bankruptcy, tax liens, much more" article at WLJA has been moved to a different location on their site. Can someone please correct the citation to point to this new location, and also add this archived copy? I'm not certain of the syntax for a news citation with an archival. Much thanks! 2601:3CA:204:F860:317E:524C:73FA:580F (talk) 04:30, 10 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This article does not read like an advertisement. This article is pretty neutral. I don't see any problems that either a liberal or conservative would have with this article. The problem it does have is that it's a stub. — Preceding unsigned comment added by FenderstratGatorlord (talkcontribs) 18:50, 22 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
