Harry Potter Reference[edit]

JK Rowling got the name for Colin Diggory from Digory Kirk. That should be worked into the artical 144.118.55.204 (talk) 03:30, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The name Kirke[edit]

"His name may be based on Kirke, the legendary sorceress from Greek mythology; this is speculation, however, and his lack of sinister qualities might make this unlikely. Another possibility is a governor of Newfoundland."

From Kirk: "As a common noun, kirk is the Scots and Scottish English word for ' church ', attested as a noun from the 14th century onwards, but as an element in placenames much earlier. Both words, kirk and church, derive from the Koine Greek κυριακον (δωμα) 'Lord's (house)', which was borrowed into the Germanic languages in late antiquity, possibly in the course of the Gothic missions." The house burned down?[edit]

Under the Voyage of the Dawn Treader section, this page says that Professor Kirk's house "burned down." In my version of the book, there's no mention of this. It simply says, "If he had still been in that house he would have had them all to stay. But he had somehow become poor since the old days and was living in a small cottage with only one bedroom to spare." "The Last Battle" only mentions that the Rings had been buried at a house in London. Unless someone can produce documentation from some source that I'm missing (maybe a different version of the book?)I'm going to remove this reference. Dave 23:21, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

Alter ego[edit]

Notability[edit]

I have restored the article. Given that Digory is the main protagonist of an entire book of the series, and that every other one of the child protagonists of the series has their own article, I consider it absurd to turn this one into a redirect to the Chronicles article. I can see it needs fixing, but this isn't the way. If anyone disagrees, I'm asking you to please discuss the matter here – as should have been done in the first place – before reverting my restoration. —VeryRarelyStable 01:37, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
