Recording of "Doer Of The Word"[edit]

The article says that Dan was not present when Gerry sang the background vocals, i think this is wrong. Watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rpv_ukm7WdA Chris Christian (whose real name is Lon Smith) is the guy on the left at the beginning, Dan the one on the right and the one who hugs Gerry when he enters the studio. By the way, an interesting information: according to Dan's book "Our Day In The Sun" the video was recorded by Chris Christian without Dan's knowledge. Dan found the video cassette titled "Dan and Gerry" the next day in the studio, took it with him and threw it away. Now a few days after Dan's passing, the video occurs on Youtube... by who? YMCrecords, and who is the man behind that record company? Chris Christian, of course. Curious, isn't it? You can read it in the prologue of the book in the Amazon preview: http://www.amazon.com/Our-Day-Sun-ebook/dp/B00507DA7I#reader_B00507DA7I To make it even more suspect, I've pointed to all that in a comment on the video on Youtube and my comment has been deleted. You can read about it here: http://america.accessbackstage.com/index.php?module=phpwsbb&PHPWSBB_MAN_OP=view&PHPWS_MAN_ITEMS=26046 The penulitmate post confirms that comments were deleted: my one and the answers I got. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.143.109.28 (talk) 00:49, 12 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Name[edit]

Why is Dan Peek's name in the title in Italics? --DrJos (talk) 16:36, 27 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Recent edits reverted[edit]

(1) The term "Died in his sleep" rather than "dead in his bed" has already been established by two editors to be the preferable content in regard to Peek's death in this article. (2) Leaving "During this period" in the paragraph that contains "Peek was 'a spectrum drug abuser, alcoholic, you name it' gives clarification as when Peek was using drugs and alcohol. Further removal of the above preferred content will have to be seen as disruptive and will likely be reported to the appropriate administrator's noticeboard. Other editors are welcome to weigh in on this. Lhb1239 (talk) 00:28, 6 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Image changes[edit]

@Arbor to SJ: I'm not sure why we want fuzzy images or those with a microphone in front of the subject's face. What's wrong with Dan Peek.jpg? Walter Görlitz (talk) 13:26, 25 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Shouldn't wikipedia try to use free use rather than copyrighted photos per WP:NFCC? Also, if you have a problem with the mic in front of Peek, how about cropping Peek from this photo File:America - TopPop 1972 5.png? Arbor to SJ (talk) 15:35, 25 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Please answer my question rather than counter with a non-sequiter.
But while we're waiting for a real response, fair use rational has been provided for that image and it's no different than the illegitimate "out of copyright" you've placed on the images you've provided. Walter Görlitz (talk) 05:50, 26 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Because Commons has multiple free images of Peek, the rationale "To illustrate person at peak of their career" is out the window. So is "Subject of image is deceased, so creation of recent free image is impossible." Arbor to SJ (talk) 06:42, 26 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
But the rationale that those images are free is not valid. It's still under copyright in the US. Walter Görlitz (talk) 15:48, 26 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Those images aren't under copyright but under CC-BY-SA licenses that are applicable worldwide - translating the statement in link in English saying so: "The images from the archives of Sound and Vision can be found in the wiki. In a low-res web resolution (500 × 483 pixels) The images are provided information on the origin, date and catalog number. All images in the archive as a source of Image and Sound, can be used under the Creative Common License Attribution-ShareAlike." Arbor to SJ (talk) 21:17, 26 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
OK. I'm not sure about the copyright of those works and I don't read Dutch. The image is still poor, but I'm not getting the answers I need from you and don't care to take the time to get the answers I need. If it's deleted in the future due to copyright violation, the older one is hopefully still available. Walter Görlitz (talk) 04:19, 28 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
