Name?[edit]

I believe the name of this satellite is Karpo, with a K, and the eccentricity seems wrong. Look here: [1].

Any opinions?

We need the IAU announcement to sort out the spelling. As for the eccentricity, the data NASA puts on the web is unreliable. They confuse radius and diameter much of the time, and I've seen 2 or 3 contradictory values for the same datum within a single page. I don't know if the 'fact' sheets are any better than the rest of their postings for the public.

Eccentricity[edit]

Hawaii[2] has yet a third eccentricity, a whopping 0.43, and the spelling Carpo. kwami 02:10, 1 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting, well so what value for the eccentricity should I use for the bulgarian article? Smartech 02:50, 1 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
It actually might have to do with the Kozai effect that is mentioned, the eccentricity being unstable, and the inclination too. Not known how quickly it changes though, maybe not that quickly. Smartech 02:53, 1 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
If the Kozai effect worked that quickly, I doubt Jupiter would have any irregulars left! They may be estimates from different dates, or just typos. Given that NASA is unreliable on diameters as well, I personally would go by Sheppard's site. That's been updated in 2005, but I don't know if the old values were updated as well, or if only new data were added. Might want to ask whoever wrote or contributed to this article, though, as they might have better data available. kwami 03:28, 1 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
