Pardon my ignorance, but Darwin was born in 1809. Kant died in 1804. How did Kant claim that knowledge could be a result of evolved rationality before a theory of evolution existed? Surely he must have claimed there was some innate rationality which later generations viewed as a result of evolution. Elusivespoon 17:18, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

darwin did not invent the word evolution. he described a theory in which evolution leads to diversification of species through competition. that said, i dont know much bout kant-- i came here to ask if this article is as bad as it seems to me to be. is that the definition down at the bottom? why is kant even in here? i wish i could fix it but my philosophy is rather unevolved. is associationism the theory that all consciousness is the result of the combination of elemental sensory experiences? This page's definition isn't as helpful as it could be. Perhaps it needs an example or further explanatory details. 203.79.116.118 (talk) 14:23, 27 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation Page Needed[edit]

The multiple socialism links need a separate "Associationism (Socialism)" page and some kind of disambiguation to start Wififying this. DCDuring 23:30, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of material to make disambiguation page?[edit]

A lot of interesting material seems to have been lost in this page's last edit. Compare versions of December 9 and 16, 2008. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.67.231.185 (talk) 19:04, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dear wikipedian, if you are a philosopher, could you please elaborate: In the book "Mind over Machine", Dreyfus (professor of philosophy) indicates that associationism has failed as a theory. When did this happen and how? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.253.96.133 (talk) 09:46, 4 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I plan on completing some edits to this page in the next couple of days. I am an undergraduate psychology student studying this theory in learning and memory. I will add to the page several more reference links with descriptions of the findings in order to further explain associationism. EmmaJo3721 (talk) 13:48, 9 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I am also working on wiki assignments for a class, and I was going to start work on the Association (Psychology) page. I think these probably overlap if you are interested in collaboration or have any problem with me working on the other page. Also, I noticed a large section on Associationism on the Association of Ideas page and maybe there should be a redirect from that page to this one.
