Free Syrian Army[edit]

They have been fighting against the Free Syrian Army in Ifrin and Aleppo. The citation added that they are part of the Free Syrian Army mentions that they formed in May 2015 as part of the Free Syrian Army and then joined the Syrian Democratic Forces. They are not part of the Free Syrian Army. Since they are fighting the FSA and are in the SDF. 83.93.56.252 (talk) 11:43, 6 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Name of JaT[edit]

I do not see sources using the name "Army of Revolutionaries" in any large amount. As such, I believe we should move the article to "Jaysh al-Thuwar", as per WP:COMMONNAME. In addition, a google search shows only one link on the first page of "Army of Revolutionaries" that relates to the subject, while "Jaysh al-Thuwar" yields all relevant results. ANF and Hawar use both names, and numerous variants of it, like "Jaish al Thuwar", "Revolutionary Forces", "Revolutionaries' Army", "Revolutionary Army", etc. Their English versions are not consistent in naming the group. Furthermore, many sources (including several of those used named above) actually use both names, i.e. "Jaysh al-Thuwar (Army of Revolutionaries)" or "Army of Revolutionaries (Jaysh al-Thuwar)". I can also show you reliable sources only using the English name, such as here, here, here, here, and here.
In general, both names and many alternate versions of them are common (for example, "Al-Thuwar Army", "Dschaisch al-Thuwar" and "Dschaisch ath-Thuwwar" are also in use). In such cases, the English translation is generally preferred for the English Wikipedia. Applodion (talk) 12:01, 22 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
